Chapter 155 Treating a Dead Horse as a Hope

The force in his hands increased until the frail man gradually stopped struggling and his body went limp.

This scene acted as a fuse, instantly igniting chaos throughout the secret passage.

Everyone followed suit, their eyes fixed on the desire for food and the obsession with survival.

Some people swung their fists and smashed them hard against their former friends. Others grabbed whatever they could find and used it as a weapon to attack anyone they saw.

In an instant, the secret passage was filled with cries, curses, and the sounds of fighting; it was a scene of utter carnage.

In the chaos, even Feng Chunlian was not spared and was injured by the frenzied crowd.

Blood Fiend was extremely anxious. He supported Feng Chunlian with one hand and used his knife to clear a path with the other, rushing to the secret room area where Su An was.

After putting Feng Chunlian down, he quickly set up a mechanism at the entrance of the secret room. Seeing that someone was about to attack, he immediately shouted at Fu Zhun and Su An, "Why aren't you coming to help? Do you want to die together?"

Fu Zhun and Su An exchanged a startled glance.

Since the last incident, to avoid being attacked while asleep, they moved to a small, secret room and were unaware of the Blood Lotus Cult's situation.

But hearing the screams outside, one can guess what's going on.

Fu Zhun nodded slightly, picked up his longsword, and led the other two soldiers toward the door.

Only a few faint rays of light pierced through the cracks in the secret passage, illuminating the grotesque and distorted faces of the approaching crowd.

A chilling killing intent spread through Fu Zhun's dark eyes, his longsword flashing with cold light as he decisively and fiercely swung it towards the crowd.

However, when one person fell, the others stepped over his corpse and continued to surge forward, especially when they saw Prince Fu Zhun, they all found their target.

"Kill the imperial scoundrels first! Make them pay for our brothers' lives!"

"Su An, hurry and seal the door to the secret room! The mechanism is right next to it!"

Blood Fiend's anxious roar reached Su An's ears. He quickly looked around and saw a push-pull handrail.

With a sudden pull, a stone slab at the doorway slid down with a "bang," separating the interior from the outside.

Su An was overjoyed. "It's done!"

But this joy didn't last long, as someone outside pulled a mechanism, reopening the stone slab.

"Kill!" The crowd, which had just been forced back, surged in again like a tide, and soon broke into most of the secret room.

"This...?" Su An was stunned, her face turning two shades paler in an instant.

How can we play like this?

Faced with the bloodthirsty crowd, Fu Zhun and Xue Sha were struggling to hold their own and were forced into a corner where Su An was.

Su An could even smell the hot, pungent odor of blood.

"Break, destroy the mechanism..." Feng Chunlian's weak voice suddenly came from the side, reminding Su An.

The mechanisms are interconnected; if one part is damaged, the other part cannot be opened.

This is tantamount to them being trapped here and dying!

But he couldn't attend to everything right now. Seeing the people constantly rushing in, Su An gritted his teeth, picked up a rock, and smashed it hard against the mechanism's handrail.

Bang!

The stone door slammed down again, completely isolating the refugees outside.

Without support, the others trapped in the secret room were quickly and easily eliminated.

Only then did Su An notice Feng Chunlian's unusual expression and hurriedly ran over.

Feng Chunlian's face was deathly pale, and a short knife was stuck in her abdomen, from which blood was gushing out.

"Master!" Su An was shocked. After all, Feng Chunlian was the leader of their Blood Lotus Sect. He never expected them to be so ruthless!

She quickly tore off a piece of her clothing and frantically tried to stop the bleeding for Feng Chunlian: "This knife can't be pulled out, we can only stop the bleeding first, please bear with it, Master!"

Feng Chunlian gasped for breath, a bitter smile creeping onto her lips.

"I'm afraid I can't make it..." she said slowly, her voice as weak as a candle flickering in the wind.

Blood Fiend, who had just finished killing his enemies, came over and his eyes turned bloodshot upon hearing these words.

When he saw Feng Chunlian's tragic state, it felt as if a piece of his heart had been ripped out, causing him to drop the knife in trembling. "Impossible! Don't talk nonsense!"

He rushed over and knelt beside Feng Chunlian, reaching out to touch her, but his hands trembled as if afraid of hurting her.

"Master... don't give up, you must live!" Xue Sha choked up, his voice filled with pleading.

"If you're gone, believe me, I'll disband the Blood Lotus Sect right now!"

Feng Chunlian was slightly taken aback, then shook her head and smiled as if relieved.

"Fine, let's disband then. Blood Fiend, you should think about yourself now. Go and get married, have children, and live an ordinary life."

"Nonsense! Nonsense!" Blood Fiend's eyes were bloodshot as he stared intently at Feng Chunlian.

His once cold face was now filled with struggle and pain.

As if making a final decision, he trembled as he grasped Feng Chunlian's hands: "I've always loved you!"

"You saved me back then, you pulled me out of the mire. My feelings for you have long been rooted in my heart, you can't abandon me!"

His expression was filled with a stubborn, deep affection. He feared that if he didn't speak up now, he would never have the chance again!

He thought Feng Chunlian would be surprised, or would tease him about his recklessness as usual.

However, Feng Chunlian's face was as pale as paper, her eyes filled with a complex yet knowing look, "Blood Fiend, I've always known your feelings, but..."

"My heart belongs only to my deceased husband; there is no room for anyone else."

Her voice was weak but firm, like a sharp thorn piercing the heart of the Blood Demon.

"Why! He's already dead..." Xue Sha closed his eyes in despair, trying to hide the tears welling up inside.

"You're so cruel, how could you not even give me a sliver of hope..."

Su An watched the two of them with pursed lips, quite surprised.

Seeing that the ruthless and merciless Blood Fiend actually had such feelings for the sect leader, one can only imagine how much he had endured before.

Given Feng Chunlian's sensitivity and intelligence, she probably noticed it long ago.

It was only now that the two of them were forced to say it.

It was truly a complex and tangled emotion.

Su An unconsciously looked at Fu Zhun and found that his dark eyes were also staring at her.

There seemed to be a deep, surging undercurrent in his eyes.

For some reason, Su An felt her cheeks burning, and she quickly looked away, her heart pounding.

"Chunlian, wake up! You can't just abandon me like this!"

Blood Fiend's desperate cry immediately caught Su An's attention, startling him.

Feng Chunlian was already motionless with her eyes closed, her pale face seemingly symbolizing the passing of her life.

Blood Fiend trembled as he held her tightly, his cries echoing through the secret passage. His heartbroken appearance made everyone's heart ache.

Su An frowned and hurriedly stepped forward to check Feng Chunlian's breathing. He immediately felt an urge to slap Xue Sha in anger.

They usually seem pretty witty, but I never expected them to be so hopelessly stupid in a situation like this!

"She's not dead yet! Stop holding her, put her down and save her!"

Upon hearing this, Xue Sha shuddered violently, and a glimmer of hope instantly ignited in his eyes, replacing his despair.

Su An quickly took out the heart-protecting pills given to him and hurriedly fed them to Feng Chunlian.

Whether it works or not, we have no choice but to try anything!
