Chapter 172 The Envoy's Identity

Inside the secret room, Su An lay on the cold, damp floor, his skin covered in bloodstains and bruises. The bloodstains had dried and were stuck to his tattered clothes, making him look battered and bruised.

Time passed slowly in the darkness and pain, and before we knew it, it was night.

Su An fainted and was woken up by the pain several times before her stomach finally started to rumble.

She couldn't help but curl up in pain, cursing, "These damn bastards, do they want to starve me to death instead of killing me?"

But just as they were cursing, a laugh suddenly came from outside the secret room, echoing like a ghost in the darkness.

Su An suddenly felt a chill run down her spine, and the hairs on her body stood on end.

She turned her head with difficulty, looking in the direction of the sound, only to find that the messenger had been standing in the darkness outside, silently watching her.

His gaze was like that of a hunter looking down on his dying prey, his eyes filled with a morbid, twisted, eerie light.

Holy crap!

"You! When did you get there?"

Staring at people like a ghost late at night, that person must have some serious mental illness!

Su An was shocked, angry, and utterly speechless. With all her might, she gritted her teeth and asked, "I said, what exactly do you want? If you have any schemes, just say them. Don't be a coward!"

The envoy looked at her with a deep gaze, smiling without saying a word, but the laughter sounded particularly grating to Su An.

After watching for a while, he turned and left with a satisfied expression, quickly disappearing into the darkness.

Su An was instantly speechless, and rolled her eyes in anger.

Mental illness? Perversion?

"Sigh!" She slumped to the ground, her lips trembling, too weak to even curse.

I wonder when Fu Zhun will come looking for me...

She squinted her eyes in a daze, but before she could see any hope, she developed a high fever in the middle of the night.

His consciousness began to blur, and his chapped lips unconsciously uttered incoherent sobs.

"My car, my house... my food prize... I want to go back so badly, I want to eat fried chicken, cola, and burgers..."

"Perhaps if I die this time, my soul will really be able to drift back."

Su An muttered to himself, his brows furrowed, his face showing both pain and relief.

"Traveling in ancient times is too, too difficult. I really want to go back..."

The messenger returned to the secret chamber, and as soon as he approached the door, he heard Su An's ramblings, which immediately made him realize something was wrong.

"Soul? Drifting back?!"

He strode to Su An's side, grabbed her by the neck, and his eyes flashed with a sinister light: "You? Who are you? No... who is the soul in this body? You're not Su An, are you!"

He stared intently at Su An, his voice trembling with an inexplicable rage, and his grip tightened.

Su An was being choked until she could hardly breathe. She managed to open one eye and met his furious gaze.

In an instant, that nauseating and disgusting familiar feeling vanished from my mind.

"Cough cough... I, I am Su An, but I am not Su An..."

"You!" The envoy's pupils suddenly widened in shock. "Confess honestly, who exactly are you! Where is the original Su An?!"

Su An stared at him without blinking, forcing a smile that was full of sarcasm: "Haha... the original Su An? She's long dead! She was already dead when I arrived!"

Upon hearing this, the messenger suddenly felt a tightness in his chest and a sharp pain rose in his heart.

His eyes became incredibly complex, showing astonishment and absurdity, before bursting with anger.

"I know! You evil spirit possessed Su An's body and killed her!" The messenger roared through gritted teeth, suddenly increasing the force in his hand, his veins bulging.

"You monster, give her back right now!"

"He Cheng!" Su An shouted with all his might, glaring fiercely at the envoy before him.

Sure enough, He Cheng froze upon being recognized, his exposed eyes widening rapidly.

He never expected that, despite his deep concealment, Su An would discover his identity at this moment.

Seeing his reaction, Su An almost laughed, her gaze wishing she could dig two holes in him.

"You're the one who killed Su An, He Cheng, have you forgotten?"

"You passed the imperial examination with great fanfare, yet you owed debts, your whole family moved away, and you broke off your engagement, making Su An the target of everyone's criticism as a lowly scoundrel who wanted to climb the social ladder!"

"She was already frail and sickly. After you swindled her out of her savings, she had no money for medical treatment and eventually died in bed from the unbearable rumors!"

Su An's voice was very weak, but every word was full of sarcasm.

He Xiang seemed to have had his soul ripped out; he staggered back a few steps, his eyes filled with deep shock and disbelief.

The face hidden behind the black cloth was distorted by a mixture of sadness and anger, and finally, tears welled up in its eyes.

Seeing this, Su An's mockery intensified, and she sneered, "What, pretending to be heartbroken now? What right do you have? You are the one who is heartless and ungrateful, who personally destroyed everything she had."

The cold voice was like a sharp blade, piercing straight into He Cheng's heart.

He Cheng was completely enraged by Su An's words. He rushed forward and grabbed Su An's neck again.

His hands trembled with rage, and he gripped them with such force that he almost crushed Su An's slender neck.

"You bitch, you're talking nonsense! You're the one who took her body, I'm going to kill you to avenge her!"

His eyes were filled with a frenzied hatred, as if he wanted to devour Su Ansheng alive.

Su An struggled to breathe, yet stubbornly stared at He Cheng, a sarcastic smile tugging at the corners of her lips.

"Revenge? Fine! You're the root of Su An's tragedy, you're the one who killed her!"

"If you're so capable, then keep your word and just kill yourself by crashing your head into a hole!"

"You bitch! Don't think I wouldn't dare kill you—"

But before he could finish speaking, at this critical moment, a subordinate rushed into the secret room.

"Your Excellency, it's terrible! The Prince of Zhenbei has arrived with a large army!"

He Chengzheng, who was gripping Su An's hand tightly, paused for a moment, then gritted his teeth in anger, a hint of panic flashing in his eyes.

He angrily shoved Su An away, and Su An's body flew out like a falling leaf, crashing heavily into the wall before falling to the ground.

"You're lucky this time. I'll deal with you after I've dealt with Fu Zhun!"

After He Cheng finished speaking fiercely, he hurriedly left the secret room with his subordinates, leaving Su An, who was dizzy from the fall, constantly gasping for breath.

Damn scumbag!

Outside, the moonlight was obscured by dark clouds, and the surroundings were shrouded in gloom. Only the torches held by Fu Zhun's soldiers flickered in the wind, illuminating the frozen atmosphere.

Fu Zhun sat in a wheelchair, his cold face illuminated by the firelight, exuding a chilling murderous intent.

His gaze, sharp as a hawk's, fixed on the courtyard before him and on He Cheng, who strode out.

"Hand over Su An, and I might spare your life!"
