Chapter 201 Sulking and Confession

The backyard of the clinic was so quiet it seemed to be isolated from the world.

Su An and Fu Zhun sat on opposite sides of the stone table, the tea set on it untouched. This was the first time the two had sat so awkwardly apart since they met.

"I'll just ask you, how much of what he said is true? Was it really your order to bring in the Celestial Master?" Su An stared intently at him, not blinking, but her hands were tightly gripping the hem of her clothes, as if she dared not breathe.

These cold words made Fu Zhun's eyebrows twitch, and a look of panic and regret flashed in his eyes.

He nodded hesitantly, his expression losing some of its composure: "Yes and no. Xiao An, let me explain."

“Yesterday he mentioned that you had come back to life and that you were not the original Su An. I did have some doubts, so I temporarily agreed to his approach.”

His Adam's apple bobbed slightly as he stared at Su An with a complex expression. He said in a low voice, "I admit that it was my mistake not to stop him, but I was by no means the mastermind. I just... want to find out the truth about you, to know what you have been through."

"And who exactly are you?"

Upon hearing this, Su An's eyes narrowed, as if something had struck her head, making it even harder for her to breathe.

Even if Fu Zhun hadn't revealed it, she could probably have guessed it.

He and He Cheng had discussed something yesterday, which led He Cheng to make a big fuss this morning by hiring some quack Taoist priest to perform a ritual. Fu Zhun couldn't possibly be unaware of such a commotion, but he didn't stop it immediately, presumably because he was observing him.

He also wanted to see if he would reveal his true form under the Celestial Master's magic.

It was impossible not to be sad. Su An lowered her eyelids, hiding her slightly reddened eyes, and said defiantly, "After you know who I am, what do you plan to do? Represent justice and eliminate this demon?"

"If that's the case, then why did you stop me just now? Is it fun to tease me?"

Fu Zhun rarely saw her lose her temper like this. He was stunned for a moment, then a surge of anxiety welled up inside him, and he pushed his wheelchair quickly toward her.

"I'm not teasing you, I just want to know the real you." He paused, then withdrew his outstretched hand, staring at her anxiously.

"But when I saw you being unjustly accused just now, I knew that I was wrong because of my own selfishness. No matter who you are, I believe you."

These words made Su An freeze for a moment, and she hurriedly turned her head away to avoid Fu Zhun's dark eyes, which were full of guilt.

She could easily detect the urgency in Fu Zhun's tone. Besides, a prince of such high standing had actually spoken ill of her…

"Your Highness, since you are so eager to know the truth, I will not hide it from you."

Rather than risk He Cheng suddenly revealing the truth at any moment, she'd rather be honest with Fu Zhun now.

She took a deep breath, looked up and met the man's dark eyes, and said, word by word, "I am indeed not the original Su An. The original Su An in this body died of illness long ago. I transmigrated and possessed this body at that time!"

Fu Zhun's breathing quickened slightly, his pupils contracted, and his eyes showed shock.

Is this really true?

“I don’t belong to this dynasty. I’m just an ordinary person from the 21st century in the future. I’m also a gourmet and chef. After I inexplicably possessed this body, I had no choice but to go back to my old profession. The food you usually see is common in my era,” Su An explained in one breath.

"When I died from poisoning last time, my soul returned to my original world, just like a dream. I don't know why it happened so strangely; I'm completely baffled myself. So, Your Highness, do you believe these absurd words of mine?"

As she finished speaking, Su An turned to look at him, her expression showing a hint of trepidation.

What if, what if Fu Zhun can't accept it and treats her like some kind of wandering ghost, burning her alive as an exorcism?

That's a huge injustice!

I believe you.

Just as she was lost in thought, Fu Zhun's hoarse voice suddenly rang out.

Without hesitation, he said, "I only love you, your soul, and it has nothing to do with any physical body."

Those deep black eyes seemed to hold churning magma, and when they fell upon Su An, they felt an intense burning sensation.

Her face instantly turned as red as a tomato, but she still blinked in disbelief. "Don't you think I'm some kind of demon?"

Fu Zhun smiled deeply and said, "How could there be such a kind-hearted demon like you in this world? It's more like a goddess descended to earth."

Su An: "..."

Oh my god, that man is cheating!

Finally, a heavy weight was lifted from my heart, and a touch of joy and sweetness filled my heart.

"Would you mind telling me what your world is like?" Fu Zhun poured her a cup of tea at some point and handed it to her with a smile in his eyes.

Su An's eyes lit up immediately, and he became very interested. Wasn't this just explaining new technology to a country bumpkin? He was finally getting a chance to humbly learn from him!

"That's quite a story! Let me tell you, airplanes and cannons in my world..."

"You mean, they didn't have a fight or break up? They were even laughing and joking together?!"

Inside the post station, He Cheng immediately stood up upon hearing the guard's report, his face ashen and grim.

The guard below didn't dare to raise his head and said, "This subordinate heard it all clearly from outside. There was no argument inside, they were actually very harmonious. The two of them didn't seem like they were about to sever ties..."

He Cheng's lips trembled, his teeth grinding together as he squeezed out a few words: "Impossible! This is absolutely impossible!"

Wasn't Fu Zhun supposed to be deeply in love with Su An, only to die young? Knowing that Su An was merely a possessed spirit, shouldn't he be furious?!

"How could this happen! They can't even handle such a small matter, they're all a bunch of good-for-nothings!" He suddenly swept the teacup next to him to the ground, pacing back and forth angrily, his face full of resentment.

Suddenly, he thought of something and stopped in his tracks, a sinister glint in his eyes. "Go, bring Peony to see me!"

Before long, Peony, led by a guard, walked in gracefully.

Seeing the mess on the ground, her beautiful eyes flashed, and she said to He Cheng with a forced smile, "My lord envoy, you should know that I am the leader of the Shadow Guard and cannot easily reveal my identity. Why have you summoned me here so openly?"

He Cheng frowned in displeasure at her attitude, but he was in no mood to argue at the moment. He quickly told her his plan and asked her to carry it out.

Upon hearing his words, Peony bit her lower lip and gave a forced laugh: "My lord, such methods are truly despicable. Although Su An and I have different stances, she is not a truly wicked person. Treating her like this is not what I wish for."

He Cheng immediately snorted coldly, his face darkening as he said, "Don't forget your place. As the leader of the Shadow Guards here, your life belongs to His Majesty, and everything you do is for His Majesty."

"His Majesty has ordered us to find a way to deal with Fu Zhun, and Su An is the key figure. If you dare to disobey the order, you will be disobeying His Majesty. Do you know the consequences?"
