Chapter 219 The Mysterious Assassin

As soon as Fu Hai shouted, the guards outside rushed in!

Upon seeing the assassin in black, he immediately raised the long knife in his hand.

However, the assassin in black kicked Fu Hai, who was trying to protect his master, to the ground and relentlessly chased after Chu Yi to kill him.

Bang!

The chair was kicked over, and the black-clad assassin rushed in front of Chu Yi, grinning ferociously, his long sword raised high.

The guards nearby tried to save the emperor, but it was too late. They roared with furious cries, "Your Majesty!"

Seeing that the young emperor was about to die by the assassin's sword, Fuhai, who had finally gotten up, grabbed the assassin's leg and cried out, "Your Majesty, run! Run!"

"All of you, hold him back for me!" Chu Yi was already terrified and looked disheveled. Upon hearing this, he immediately opened the door and ran out without hesitation.

"You old bastard, how dare you ruin my plans!" the black-clad assassin roared angrily, piercing Fu Hai's shoulder with his sword.

Taking advantage of this critical moment, the guards finally had the opportunity to surround him.

"You audacious thief, who sent you to assassinate His Majesty!"

The assassin in black didn't answer their questions at all. He gave the guards a fierce look, then pulled a small bamboo tube from his pocket.

Pull the ring.

There was a loud bang!

The bamboo tube exploded into a burst of fireworks upon hitting the ground, the loud sound reverberating through the quiet, dark night.

Before the guards could react, even more assassins in black rushed in through the window.

"That damned emperor ran to the left after he left the house, you guys hurry up and chase after him!"

Upon hearing this, some of the assassin's accomplices rushed out without hesitation, while others surrounded the guards.

The two groups immediately engaged in a fierce battle, with blood splattering everywhere and screams echoing as severed limbs were chopped off.

Su An, who was in a room several rooms away, had already lain down, but the sudden, pitiful scream startled her so much that she sat up abruptly!

"What's going on?"

She frowned and muttered to herself, but before she could investigate, a series of screams suddenly came from outside, accompanied by chaotic footsteps.

The footsteps were very dense; there was definitely more than one person outside!

Su An immediately sensed something was wrong. Why were so many people running around in the corridor in the middle of the night?

There's definitely something wrong!

She immediately put on her coat and ran outside in a few steps, but before she could figure out what was going on, Fu Zhun had already appeared beside her in a wheelchair.

"Go back inside quickly!"

"Fu Zhun, what exactly is happening outside?"

"An assassin has appeared," Fu Zhun said coldly.

"assassin?!"

Su An was instantly stunned. Not again?!

"Don't worry about it, just go back inside. I'll send someone to protect you. Remember, don't go out until I come back for you!"

Fu Zhun gripped her slender fingers tightly and solemnly instructed her.

Su An's heart began to pound, but she knew that if she went, she would not only be unable to help, but would also be a burden to Fu Zhun.

So he nodded and went back to his room without hesitation.

The sword guards immediately stood watch at her door to prevent anyone from barging in.

Peng!

thump!

The gleaming longsword grazed Chu Yi's cheek and shattered a wine jar that was more than half a person tall beside him.

The moment the spicy liquor splashed high into the air, Chu Yi scrambled to the ground, narrowly avoiding the assassin's next strike.

Scrambling to his feet in a disheveled state, he turned and hid behind a pillar, his half-exposed eye fixed on the assassin, roaring hysterically, "Who are you? Why did you try to assassinate me?"

Before he could finish speaking, a cold wind suddenly swept past behind him.

Chu Yi's eyes widened, and he immediately sensed something was wrong. He turned his head and saw that two other assassins had somehow moved behind him, and two long swords were thrusting at his back.

"Go to hell!"

Chu Yi's pupils constricted instantly, his mind screaming for him to dodge, but his body, unable to keep up with his brain's reaction, remained frozen in place.

As the two long swords drew ever closer, Chu Yi closed his eyes, filled with resentment and grief: My life is over!

But then—clang!

A long, flexible sword blocked the blade tip, and sparks flew in an instant!

The blade of the soft sword rippled with a wave as Fu Zhun drew his sword and thrust it horizontally, piercing through the chest of one of the assassins.

Then, before the other assassin could react, a sword pierced through his waist and abdomen.

In an instant, scalding blood gushed out like a cascading waterfall, spraying towards him and onto Chu Yi's body.

Chu Yi suddenly opened his eyes and saw the two assassins lying dead on the ground.

"Your Highness!" An Yi and the others frowned in disapproval. "You are inconvenient to move around. How can you personally go into battle? What if those assassins hurt you?"

Upon hearing this, Fu Zhun glanced at Chu Yi without leaving a trace: "The situation was urgent at the time, and there was no time to wait for you."

As he spoke, he shook the soft sword in his hand, and bright red blood dripped down the shiny blade, with a fresh nick clearly visible in the middle of the blade.

Fu Zhun saved him!

It was this cripple who saved him!

Chu Yi's heart tightened slightly, but then his eyes suddenly darkened, and instead of gratitude, he revealed a mocking smile.

"Hypocrisy! It disgusts me! They sent men to kill me, but then suddenly appeared to save me!"

As soon as he said that, An Yi and the others' faces darkened, and they glared at him angrily.

"Your Majesty, please don't speak nonsense. What connection do these assassins have with our master?"

"Among those present who have a grudge against me and know which room I live in, only you, Fu Zhun, are worthy of my attention! And what a coincidence that you appeared and saved me just when I was about to die! It's clear that you've been watching me all along!"

"Heh." Fu Zhun scoffed at this, took out a white handkerchief from his sleeve, and slowly wiped away the remaining blood from the sword.

"Your Majesty is overthinking it. If I wanted to take action, Your Majesty would probably be dead by now. Why would I have kept you alive until today?"

"you!"

Chu Yi felt as if he had been slapped in the face in an instant. The shock of surviving the ordeal mixed with a strong sense of humiliation made him uncontrollably furious.

"Fine, fine, you won't give up until you see the Yellow River!"

"Guards!" By this time, the assassins had almost all been killed.

At Chu Yi's command, several guards nearby immediately ran over, knelt on one knee, and said, "What are your orders, Your Majesty?"

"Immediately order your men to surround this entire area. I will investigate thoroughly to find out who dared to assassinate me!"

Upon hearing this, the guards immediately obeyed the order and went down to drag out all the shop assistants.
