That night, Su An tossed and turned in bed, unable to fall asleep for a long time.
Her mind was filled with noise and killing, and Wang Yi's words kept echoing in her ears, making her thoughts increasingly chaotic.
She always felt that things weren't as simple as Wang Yi had made them out to be.
However, after a long period of mental turmoil, she still couldn't come up with a solution.
The moonlight outside the room appeared even brighter against the backdrop of the darkness, and the light and shadows reflected through the window gradually shifted and disappeared over time.
She yawned sometime later and slowly fell asleep.
The next morning, she got up early without anyone waking her.
After a quick wash, she rushed to Fu Zhun's door with dark circles under her eyes.
"Fu Zhun, are you awake?"
Upon hearing the sound, Fu Zhun pushed his wheelchair and slowly opened the door.
Looking up, Fu Zhun saw Su An's haggard face and was stunned for a moment. He raised his hand to touch his lower eyelids, his eyes filled with pity and self-reproach, and asked softly.
"Did you stay up all night because you were frightened?"
Following his example, Su An raised his hand and touched the area under his eyes.
Sure enough, due to lack of sleep, I already have some water retention.
In the past, she would never have let herself be in such a sorry state, but now that her life was about to be lost, she didn't care about anything else.
She quickly waved her hand to change the subject.
"That's not the key point. The key point is that I think Wang Yi is lying."
Upon hearing her mention this matter, Fu Zhun's expression became more serious. He glanced around warily before stepping back, lowering his voice, and speaking to her.
"Come in and talk."
Su An didn't stand on ceremony and stepped directly into the room.
After closing the door, Fu Zhun thoughtfully poured her a cup of tea and responded in a soft, gentle tone.
Whether Wang Yi was lying or not is unknown, but I do think that the assassination could not have been done by Wang Yi alone, or it could have been done by someone else who was hiding in the shadows and was not easy to detect.
“What you said makes some sense, but we don’t have any other leads right now, so I’m afraid we can only start with Wang Yi.”
Su An frowned thoughtfully and lightly touched her lips with her fingertips.
Seeing that she had the same idea as him, Fu Zhun's brows relaxed a little, and the corners of his lips curved into a smile as he nodded in agreement.
“That’s good, let’s start with Wang Yi.”
Then, Fu Zhun calmly put down his teacup and raised his voice slightly.
"An Yi, go and get Wang Yi's confession."
No sooner had the words left his mouth than a shadowy figure flashed past the door.
Before long, An Yi presented his confession.
To make it easier for the two of them to view, he also made an extra copy.
“Wang Yi said that Li Wanyue did this to frame me, but if that's really what he said, wouldn't it have been enough for those assassins last night to just put on an act? Why did they keep chasing after the Emperor? Their actions didn't seem like acting; they seemed more like…”
Su An gripped the testimony tightly in his hand, his brows furrowed, muttering to himself.
Before she could finish speaking, Fu Zhun continued in a cold voice.
"It was a real assassination attempt; their goal was to kill him!"
If that's the case, then she's in big trouble.
She just wanted to make a little money by opening the shop, so why is it so difficult!
Su An sighed softly and analyzed with a slight pout.
"It is no accident that these assassins were able to find the Emperor's room so accurately and enter without alerting anyone. There must be an inside agent in the shop."
As the two were discussing, a series of footsteps approached from afar.
Fu Zhun subconsciously looked towards the doorway, then raised his index finger to his lips as a gesture to be quiet.
Seeing this, Su An also turned his head to look behind him.
The next moment, the door was pushed open from the outside, and a purple figure rushed straight towards Fu Zhun.
The visitor was none other than Li Wanyue.
Seeing this, Su An's face changed in fright, and he quickly moved his chair back, afraid of being tainted by Li Wanyue in any way.
"Miss Li, please have some self-respect!"
Fu Zhun gripped the wheelchair handles tightly, his face darkening as he quickly spoke up to stop him.
Upon hearing this, a hint of embarrassment flashed across Li Wanyue's face, and she stopped just a step away from him.
But soon, her eyes reddened, and tears streamed down her cheeks, falling to the ground as if they were free. It was truly a pitiful sight to see such a beautiful woman!
Su An couldn't help but click her tongue in amazement.
Li Wanyue held a handkerchief in her hand, her charming eyes looking at Fu Zhun with an innocent yet aggrieved expression.
"Is Your Highness disliking Yue'er? If Yue'er was forced last night, would Your Highness believe it?"
"Over the years, Yue'er's heart has always belonged to only the Prince. After what happened last night, Yue'er knew she had no face to face the Prince and wanted to leave, but Yue'er really missed the Prince and was afraid that the Prince would be left without anyone to take care of him after Yue'er left, so she shamelessly came to visit."
"Does Your Highness also distrust Yue'er's character?"
When the events of last night were mentioned, some images flashed through Su An's mind, and she immediately looked embarrassed and quickly looked away.
This should be considered a royal secret! As the saying goes, the more you know about the royal family, the faster you die.
Her life is the priority; she should avoid it!
Thinking this, she couldn't help but swallow hard, and quietly shifted her body, plotting how to slip out of the room without the two of them noticing.
While she was lost in thought, Li Wanyue was already sobbing uncontrollably, and she moved closer to Fu Zhun again.
Seeing this, Su An quickly got up and pretended to be calm as he walked out.
Upon noticing her actions, Fu Zhun immediately became anxious, his face turning terribly grim.
He abruptly pushed Li Wanyue far away, his deep eyes narrowing as he squeezed out a few cold words from his thin lips.
"I don't need your care, get out!"
Oh no, run!
If we don't leave now, we'll really be killed to silence us.
Su An's heart tightened, and without thinking, she ran towards the door.
"Stop! Su An, come back here!"
Just as she was about to reach the door, Fu Zhun suddenly spoke up and stopped her.
Su An had to pull her foot back from the air.
She turned around, a forced smile on her face, looked at Fu Zhun, then at Li Wanyue, and muttered something awkwardly.
"This is ultimately a private matter between you two. Is it inappropriate for an outsider like me to be here?"
An outsider? She really is angry!
Fu Zhun frowned and glanced at her, his tone softening slightly: "There's nothing wrong with it. Besides, I have nothing to do with her anymore, so there's nothing to say now."
A hint of hurt flashed in Li Wanyue's eyes as she pointed at Su An and questioned him.
"Because of her, right? Is it because she stirred up trouble between us that you don't believe me? You weren't like this to me before."
