Chapter 229 Kidnapping

Su An knew he was a complete novice; he could do better than help Fu Zhun, and it would be good enough if he didn't cause him any trouble.

She retreated to a safe area and nervously began to watch the game.

As He Cheng reached mid-air, the whip separated from him. Fu Zhun flicked his wrist and lashed out again, the long whip snaking towards He Cheng's head like a nimble venomous snake.

If He Cheng were to be struck by this whip, he would be crippled if not killed.

Su An also became excited, clenching her fists tightly.

Kill him! Kill him!

Unfortunately, He Cheng suddenly used his short sword to block the long whip's attack, which gave him a chance to catch his breath and land on the ground.

The long whip wrapped itself around the short sword, threatening to be swept away.

At the critical moment, He Cheng's eyes suddenly focused with killing intent. He retreated as if to advance, and directly touched the ground with his toes, following the force of the whip, he held the short sword and stabbed towards Fu Zhun's face.

"Since you insist on protecting her, then you should die first!"

Fu Zhun held the whip in his left hand, pulled a section of the whip over, and used it to block the short sword.

The gleaming blade looked incredibly sharp, yet it couldn't penetrate the long whip even a fraction of an inch.

During the stalemate, the veins on He Cheng's neck bulged out.

Judging from the current situation, Fu Zhun seems to be at a disadvantage.

After all, he suffered from a leg ailment, so no matter how skilled he was in martial arts, it would inevitably be a bit of a hindrance in a fight.

Su An frowned and stared intently at them, her heart pounding in her chest.

Fu Zhun, you absolutely cannot get hurt!

She had just finished praying when she saw Fu Zhun suddenly exert force, using the momentum to slide a distance, and then he deftly adjusted his direction and activated the mechanism on the wheelchair.

A steel needle shot out instantly.

He Cheng's eyes widened, and he quickly rolled in the air, barely managing to dodge the fatal blow.

However, his face was still scratched and bled.

He landed steadily on the ground, raised his hand and gently wiped the blood from his face with his fingertips, the madness in his eyes growing even stronger.

"Good, very good!"

He Cheng gripped his short sword and strode forward, seemingly determined to kill.

But just as he was about to reach Fu Zhun, he suddenly turned his sword and attempted to bypass him to assassinate Su An.

You can mess with him, but you can't mess with Su An!

Su An was his Achilles' heel.

Fu Zhun was filled with rage and drew a short sword from his side, throwing it at He Cheng.

Seeing that there was no way to avoid it, He Cheng quickly drew his sword to defend himself.

In that brief moment, Fu Zhun lashed out with his long whip, striking his wrist once more.

The whip struck the bones inside, producing a crisp sound.

He Cheng was in so much pain that his face was contorted into a grimace, and he was forced to drop the short sword in his hand.

Taking advantage of his complete lack of resistance, Fu Zhun lashed out with his whip, pulling him close and grabbing his neck.

"I told you, don't touch her!"

"Since you cannot understand my words, then die!"

"I knew it, you could definitely beat him..."

A look of joy appeared on Su An's face. Just as she finished praising him, she suddenly felt a chill on her neck, as if something was pressing against it.

"Uncle, wait! Miss Su is in my hands. If you don't want anything to happen to her, release her!"

At the same time, Chu Yi's unhurried voice rang out from behind.

Fu Zhun turned around and saw Chu Yi holding a dagger, holding Su An hostage.

"Fu Zhun kindly saved your life, and this is how you repay his life-saving grace? You are shameless, you bastard!" Su An's face turned red with anger, and she couldn't help but grit her teeth and curse.

But Chu Yi wasn't angry. Instead, he leaned down with a grin, got close to her ear, and said something with a smile.

"Extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures. He is useful to me, so he cannot die. Miss Su will surely understand me in the future."

Seeing how affectionate he was with Su An, Fu Zhun's face turned ashen, and his hands involuntarily tightened.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty, save me!"

He Cheng pried at his hand, looked at Chu Yi with a pleading expression, and uttered a few broken notes.

"This Miss Su is so beautiful, it's a real pity she died like this. I urge you, Imperial Uncle, to reconsider!"

Chu Yi gestured across Su An's face while threatening her with a grin.

No sooner had he finished speaking than Fu Zhun flicked his sleeve and threw He Cheng away.

"Get out! You'd better stay far away from me in the future, or if you fall into my hands again, I will definitely take your life!"

He Cheng landed awkwardly on the ground and limped toward Chu Yi.

Chu Yi did as promised, putting the dagger back into its sheath at his waist, and gently pushed Su An to let her leave.

Just as Su An brushed past He Cheng, a murderous glint flashed in He Cheng's eyes.

At the crucial moment, Chu Yi gave a soft shout.

"He Cheng, stop your insolence!"

Upon hearing this, He Cheng could only lower his head unwillingly and walk behind Chu Yi.

Chu Yi gave Fu Zhun a deep look, then turned and hurriedly left with He Cheng.

When Su An walked up to him, the icy coldness in Fu Zhun's eyes melted away, and he looked her up and down with concern.

"Are you hurt?"

Su An shook his head, still indignant about what had just happened.

"I wasn't seriously injured. He was just trying to scare us; he didn't really intend to kill me. But you just saved him, and he treats you like this for someone so insignificant. I really feel sorry for you!"

The implications are too complex to explain in a few words, and whether it's worth it or not isn't that important.

Fu Zhun gave a wry smile and simply replied.

"I'm glad you're alright."

Back at his residence, He Cheng clasped his hands in a fist and knelt on the ground, bowing his head to admit his mistake.

"Today, I was momentarily confused and almost made a mistake, ruining Your Majesty's plans. I beg Your Majesty to punish me."

"How's the investigation going on the matter I was asked to look into?"

Chu Yi sat down, gave him a cold glance, and then picked up the teacup on the table and gently lowered it.

But the more nonchalant he seemed, the more uneasy He Cheng felt.

He dared not conceal anything and immediately reported the truth.

“The assassination was indeed unrelated to Miss Li. It was orchestrated by that Northern Hu spy using Miss Li’s name. Miss Li was unaware of it.”

What a treacherous Northern Hu spy!

Chu Yi tightened his grip abruptly, and with a loud bang, the teacup in his hand shattered.

Tea splashed out, and shards of porcelain mixed with a little blood fell to the ground.

"Investigate! Keep investigating! I want to see what these Northern Barbarians are up to!"

A chilling voice squeezed out from between his teeth, sending a shiver down one's spine.

"Yes, sir! I'll go investigate right away!"

He Cheng responded in a flustered manner and quickly withdrew.

The scene shifts, and Li Wanyue, who used to be dressed so elegantly, looks much more haggard after being imprisoned for only half a day. Her makeup has been washed away by tears.

She had already fallen into the water and hadn't had a proper rest before being imprisoned.

She was completely listless, lying on the ground in a disheveled state, barely alive.

Hearing the footsteps of the jailer passing by, she seemed to see a glimmer of hope. She suddenly looked up, pulled the gold hairpin from her hair, and crawled to the edge of the cell, calling out to the jailer.
