Chapter Fifty-Seven: Revealing One's Identity

Fuyou County has more than a dozen schools or private academies of varying sizes. Su An could only ask Zhou Li for help with these students.

He was a scholar before, so his knowledge must be more detailed than hers.

Zhou Li also came to the breakfast stall to eat noodles. Before he had eaten enough, Su An hurriedly pulled him next door to discuss with him how to arrange a school for Sanwa.

Su An sighed and said, "They are all of school age now. I originally wanted to carefully observe and compare which school is better, but I don't have time now, so I have to trouble you again."

Upon hearing this, Zhou Li's heart sank further. He looked at her and nodded heavily, "No problem, but you..."

No matter how you look at it, the young boss seems to be making his final arrangements.

"Hmph." Su An waved his hand to forcefully interrupt the sentimentality and first told him about the strengths of each of the three children.

For example, the second child is intelligent and calm, and longs to study and learn to read, but the third child is restless, full of tricks, and has interests in all sorts of things besides studying.

The younger sister is well-behaved, and it's impossible to tell what she likes or dislikes.

Su An explained in detail, hoping that Zhou Li could find a suitable school for each of them based on their strengths and weaknesses.

Zhou Li confidently promised that he would definitely do a good job.

After thanking him again, Su An prepared to go home to rest.

Perhaps due to poisoning, she felt dizzy and lightheaded after just one walk outside. If she didn't lie down for a while, she would really be in trouble.

Little did she know, a gaunt figure had been secretly following her all along.

After she left, he suddenly darted out and grabbed Zhou Li.

"Uncle, Aunt?" Zhou Li was immediately terrified and looked at the newcomer in surprise.

It was Li Guihua.

Was this person secretly watching them all along?!

A bad feeling rose in Zhou Li's heart. Sure enough, the next moment, Li Guihua stared at him and asked anxiously, "Young Master Zhou, why did Xiao An ask you to find a school for the children? What is she hiding from her mother?!"

Seeing Li Guihua's tense and worried face, Zhou Li stammered, feeling increasingly uncomfortable.

"This, that..."

Li Guihua knew at a glance that he was trying to fool her, and immediately glared angrily, saying, "If Young Master Zhou refuses to tell the truth, then the breakfast shop will no longer welcome you. No matter what new products you come up with, we won't sell them to you!"

"Ah—" Zhou Li screamed in agony upon hearing this, sweat beading on his forehead, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Auntie, this is the young boss's business. Even if you press me further, I dare not say anything!"

"If you're really worried, why don't you... go talk to the young boss again?"

You can't just not let him eat delicious food, that's bullying!

Moreover, he couldn't bear to keep his family in the dark, so he could only try to subtly probe them.

Seeing that her threats had no effect, Li Guihua realized that things were getting much worse.

She could no longer care about etiquette and hurriedly went back to the shop to find her daughter.

She looked flustered and didn't even notice when she bumped into Sanwa in the backyard. She went straight to knock on the door and entered Su An's room.

Sanwa had just learned that his eldest sister had returned home and had come out of the house to peek out when he unexpectedly stumbled upon his mother's expression.

Su Jiang and Su Ting both frowned, and even Xiao Su Yue sensed something was wrong.

The three siblings looked at each other and then began to tiptoe to the door to eavesdrop.

Inside the room, Su An, having endured a whole day, was already somewhat pale.

After finally managing to coax the three children away, Li Guihua rushed in anxiously, calling out, "Xiao An!"

"Mother...?" Su An sat up, but her voice was weak.

When Li Guihua saw her daughter's forehead covered in cold sweat and her abnormally bluish complexion, her breath caught in her throat. It seemed that all of her daughter's strange behavior over the past few days had formed a complete thread.

"Xiao An, are you feeling unwell? Quickly, let your mother take a look!" Li Guihua rushed over, trembling, and held Su An's hand, which was as cold as ice. Tears streamed down her face.

"My dear daughter, what's wrong with you? Please tell your mother, I beg you!"

The trembling, pleading voice pierced Su An's heart like a sharp needle, and for a moment, he couldn't help but let his eyes redden.

Su An's silence made Li Guihua panic and further confirmed her suspicions.

"You must have caught some kind of illness! Don't worry, Xiao An. You've always been a bit weak, with only minor ailments. But there's a miracle doctor living next door. I'll invite him over to treat you right away!"

Seeing Li Guihua crying and about to run away, Su An couldn't hold back any longer and grabbed her with tears in her eyes.

"Mother, it's no use. I've been poisoned. Even the miracle doctor said I only have three months to live!"

"W-what..."

Li Guihua froze on the spot, her face turned pale with shock, and she staggered back two steps in a daze.

"Big sister!!!"

Just then, the three little figures rushed in from outside the door, all looking at her with bloodshot eyes and disbelief.

"Big sister, how could you possibly be poisoned! You're perfectly fine, don't lie to us!"

Seeing this, Su An was surprised for a moment, then looked at the four pale-faced family members and sighed bitterly.

Since she could no longer hide it, she had no choice but to piece together the story of being imprisoned and shot with an arrow.

The whole family stared at her in shock, tears streaming down their faces.

"Big sister..."

"There's one more thing." Su An forced a weak smile. Now that things had come to this, she no longer wanted to hide her identity from this family.

This way, they wouldn't be even more heartbroken after I left, or even know that the original owner had already departed.

"Actually, I am not the real Su An, but a wandering soul from another world, who somehow possessed this body..."

Su An became increasingly weak as she spoke, her trembling eyelashes drooping as she dared not look at the expressions on everyone's faces.

Just as she had guessed, the room fell into a deathly silence as soon as she finished speaking, and even the crying seemed to be silenced.

Su Jiang gasped in shock, her dark eyes wide with disbelief, her face even paler than before.

Su Ting and Su Yue, with tears still clinging to their faces, stared in disbelief, their mouths agape.

Finally, it was Li Guihua's choked sigh that broke the deathly silence.

"Actually, your mother has long suspected that you are not the same Xiao An you used to be."

What?

Su An's eyes widened slightly, and she looked up in surprise and astonishment, "You..."

“Xiao An is my daughter. How could I, as her mother, not know her personality?” Li Guihua said, tears still falling.

"Was it the time Su Dabao came to collect the debt? Xiao An was seriously ill, and she probably hasn't come back since then."

“That’s right…” Su An said with difficulty, staring at Li Guihua with a complicated expression.

Since she knew, then why—

Seeing Su An's confusion, Li Guihua couldn't help but smile bitterly: "Xiao An... she's a child with a tragic fate. If she can't hold on any longer and leaves, it might be a relief for her."

"You being able to come back to life in place of Xiao An might be God's will. No matter who you are or where you come from, as long as you are Xiao An, your mother will treat you as her own daughter!"
