Su Family Pancake Shop.
Stove house.
Unaware that her second brother had already made a splash outside, Su An was standing in front of the cutting board, her fingers moving nimbly, and soon, one steamed bun after another came out of her hands.
In just five minutes, she had wrapped thirty buns.
When Su Jiang returned to the shop after dealing with the enthusiastic customers next door, she had already packed a hundred.
"You're back? How did it go?" There weren't many steamers at home, and Su An had already stopped making buns. She put the buns in the steamer, placed the steamer on top of another pot of boiling water, and asked.
Su Jiang exclaimed excitedly, "They're all going crazy for them! Big sister, our steamed buns are sure to sell very well!"
"Of course." Su An put the lid on the pot, watched the steam rise slowly, and said with a smile, "The buns will be cooked in a quarter of an hour. Once they're done, we'll take them outside to sell."
"Huh?" Su Jiang asked, somewhat puzzled. "Isn't it in the shop?"
Su An turned to look at him and asked with a smile, "You just went next door, how many people were there?"
"About fifty."
Su An asked again, "We sell each steamed bun for five coins. Even if each of those fifty people buys two, that's only five hundred coins, half a tael of silver. How can that be enough to pay us back?"
Su's father was a scholar who had educated the Su family children when they were young. Once he calculated the costs, Su Jiang understood.
He immediately frowned and looked worried: "What should we do?"
"Don't frown all the time, kid." Su An patted his shoulder. "It's okay, just listen to me, I have a plan."
Su Jiang wanted to ask more, but Su An stopped, saying only that they would find out later.
The waiting time passed very quickly; in the blink of an eye, a quarter of an hour had elapsed.
Su An stood in front of the pot and reached out to open the steamer lid.
The moment it was opened, a strong aroma of wheat and meat wafted out.
Su Jiang and Su Yue immediately crowded around, their similar almond-shaped eyes fixed on the steamed buns in the steamer.
Round and chubby.
It looks so delicious that I want to swallow it whole!
"Here, one for each of you." Su An took all the steamers out of the pot, took three buns from the top, and distributed one to each person.
Soon, the three of them were eating the steamed buns in small bites.
The steamed buns were piping hot, fresh out of the steamer. The group grimaced as they ate them, but they kept eating them, unable to stop.
"Delicious! So delicious! My tongue is going to fall off from the aroma!" Little Su Yue chewed and swayed happily. "Big sister, I want to eat steamed buns every day from now on!"
Su Jiang, on the other hand, became calm and simply nodded repeatedly in agreement.
Hearing the little girl's childish vow, Su An smiled and said, "Of course you can. But in the future, your older sister will make even more delicious food. Then you can eat whichever you want."
...
The three Su siblings were enjoying their meal in the kitchen, while outside, the diners were already dazzled by the aroma.
People who were drinking tea in the teahouse next door gathered again outside the sesame seed cake shop.
"Young boss, is the steamed bun ready yet?" someone asked tentatively from outside the door.
Hearing the noise outside, the three siblings finally realized it was time to sell steamed buns.
Su An immediately led Su Jiang and Su Yue out of the kitchen.
As soon as she stepped outside, she said with a smile, "The steamed buns are ready, but the shop is too small to accommodate so many people, so we're going to move the tables outside and sell them from there. Please wait a moment, uncles and aunts."
As she spoke, she and Su Jiang lifted a table and carried it out, while Su Yue followed behind them like a shadow, carrying a stool.
Once the tables and chairs were set up, Su An quickly came out with the steamed buns and shouted in her clear voice, "There are only ninety steamed buns in the first batch. First come, first served. If they're all gone, we'll have to make more, and you'll have to wait for 15 minutes."
Of the remaining seven, she kept six for her family and broke one open so everyone could see what the bun looked like.
As she spoke, she lifted the lid of the steamer, and plump white buns immediately appeared in front of everyone. One of them had been broken open, steaming hot and fragrant. The white bun skin wrapped around the filling dripping with juice, making it look so tempting that one couldn't wait to take a bite.
"I want two!" someone exclaimed immediately upon seeing the actual items, their face full of eagerness.
Once the conversation started, the rest of the group instantly erupted like boiling water, shouting and yelling.
"Give me one."
"I want five! I just ate that fatty intestine, it was really delicious. I'll buy a few more so my wife and kids can try it."
"Dad, I want to eat it, it smells so good!"
"Five of you, five of you!"
Why are you all buying so much! Leave some for the people who come after you!
Almost everyone who had tried the braised pork intestines at the teahouse came to buy steamed buns, and in just five minutes, all ninety buns were sold out.
"That's all, that's all. The next batch won't be available for another 15 minutes. If you want to buy some, come back later." Su An said with a smile as she cleaned up the steamer.
Upon hearing that they were sold out, the crowd quickly dispersed.
Just as Su An was about to carry the steamer back to the kitchen to continue making buns, a pleasant male voice suddenly rang out beside her: "Hello, could you sell me that bun that was broken in half?"
Su An looked up and saw a young man in a blue robe holding a book standing by the table, his eyes fixed on the broken bun.
He looks like a gluttonous student.
Students.
Su An, who had originally intended to refuse, instantly changed her mind and nodded with a slight smile, saying, "If you want it, this bun is yours, and I can also give you two more buns to keep for myself."
As she spoke, she gave Su Jiang a wink, and Su Jiang immediately went back to the kitchen and got two steamed buns for Su An.
Zhou Li looked down at the steamed bun in the girl's hand. The soft, white bun was still steaming, and you could smell the delicious meaty aroma as soon as you got close.
Although he knew there must be something wrong with the girl suddenly giving him so many steamed buns, he still couldn't refuse.
Swallowing hard, Zhou Li asked, "What do you want me to do?"
It's so easy to talk to smart people.
"You're a student at the county school, right?" Su An blinked, handed the steamed bun to Zhou Li, and smiled, "It's nothing really, I just hope that when you go back to the county school, you can help me spread the word."
"It is said that the fiancée who was abandoned by the newly appointed scholar He Cheng is now in the pancake shop opposite the county school. All students are invited to come and have some fun. If you come, you will hear about the fiancée's revenge plan."
"Huh?" Zhou Li looked up instantly, staring at Su An in shock.
Instead of promoting steamed buns, they're promoting a revenge plan?
"So... how are you planning to get revenge?" A few seconds later, Zhou Li didn't even bother to taste his favorite steamed buns, but instead asked curiously.
