Chapter Seventy-Five: Three-Day Grace Period

Su An was startled and looked up.

Then she saw County Magistrate Lin Yong, wearing an official hat and robes, leading a group of soldiers in with his hands behind his back, and he happened to be looking in her direction.

Lin Yong knew it was Su An, but he didn't give her a friendly look, frowning as he greeted her, "Boss Su."

Su An immediately tensed up. She knew that without finding the real culprit, the magistrate had the right to arrest the shop owner directly in order to appease the poisoned people.

But this means she has no way to find the real culprit herself and can only stay in the dungeon and leave it to fate!

We absolutely cannot let them be arrested like this!

She immediately stepped forward, tears welling in her eyes, and cried out pitifully, "Your Honor! You must do me justice! Someone is retaliating against me by poisoning my shop, waaaaah..."

Lin Yong glanced around the lobby and frowned.

"Don't worry, Mr. Su, I will definitely investigate the truth and won't let the bad guys get away with it. However, Mr. Su, you have to come back with us to investigate."

Su An panicked immediately; she couldn't let herself be taken away!

At that moment, a figure in a wheelchair suddenly appeared from the corner.

He toyed with a lustrous piece of jade in his hand and said casually, "I think it's more important to find the real culprit and punish him as soon as possible than to arrest people indiscriminately to appease the public."

"As the shop owner, Manager Su did not flee immediately upon learning that someone had been poisoned. Instead, he thought of investigating his subordinates, which shows that he is extremely responsible. As the county magistrate, you should give Manager Su a chance."

Lin Yong, who was about to give the order to have the soldiers arrest the man, was so shocked that he fell silent when he saw Fu Huai.

It's a prince again!

Is this prince having an affair with Boss Su? Why does he keep coming to help Boss Su?

His expression was even more indescribable.

"That……"

Seeing that Fu Huai didn't want to reveal his identity, and not daring to offend him too much, Lin Yong remained silent for a moment before tentatively asking, "Then do you think it would be more appropriate for me to give him a few more days?"

Fu Huai did not answer.

He simply tapped the armrest of his wheelchair and raised his hand to make a gesture.

Lin Yong understood and quickly said, "Then three days, I can only give you three days at most."

Su An was overjoyed.

Because she had her back to Fu Huai the whole time, she hadn't noticed the interaction between Fu Huai and Lin Yong. All she knew was that after all the twists and turns, a new path opened up, and she was saved!

Three days is enough for her to find some clues and give the public an explanation!

"Thank you, Magistrate! You are wise!"

Su An smiled warmly as she saw Lin Yong and the soldiers off. Then, she turned around and rushed forward to push Fu Huai's wheelchair. "Hurry, hurry, we need to find out the real culprit as soon as possible!"

Three days is not a short time, but they cannot relax in the slightest, especially since they don't know where to start their investigation.

They went to the backyard and saw Xie Qingfeng examining the specific components of the poison. Suddenly, Su An had a flash of inspiration, immediately let go of his hand, and stared at the chopsticks in Xie Qingfeng's hand with shining eyes.

"No matter what kind of poison it is, it must be composed of multiple herbs that interact antagonistically, right?"

Xie Qingfeng paused, then glanced at her with considerable surprise. "Boss Su is indeed clever."

Su An's eyes suddenly lit up, and he clapped his hands and laughed, "Great! Let's start by checking the ingredients of the poison, and then go from shop to shop to find out who bought these herbs."

Wouldn't that solve the problem of finding the real culprit?

Fu Huai, who had been left behind, finally pushed his wheelchair forward, his face turning cold as he gave Xie Qingfeng a cool glance.

Xie Qingfeng pursed his lips, too busy with important matters to bother with any complaints.

It's none of his business that he was left behind by Boss Su!

Then he seriously agreed with Su An's words: "It is indeed a good idea."

The decision was final.

Su An immediately got to work in a flurry of activity. Because there weren't enough people, she even borrowed a few guards from Fu Huai.

Although she didn't know Fu Huai's true identity, she knew that everyone under him had their own strengths and was extremely useful and efficient.

She wasn't idle either. Relying on the goodwill she had built up over this period, she asked around at every shop along the street, and actually managed to get some information from her.

"The day before yesterday, there was indeed a rather strange old woman who covered her face completely and went to Ping An Pharmacy with a basket on her back."

"She originally wanted to come here for a bowl of noodles, but when I asked her what kind of noodles she wanted, she wouldn't say anything, as if she was afraid of giving something away. It was really strange..."

Su An immediately laughed.

Weirdness is good.

Strange is suspicious, and the fact that she went to the pharmacy is too much of a coincidence. She's most likely the person she's looking for!

As a token of gratitude, Su An slipped a few extra copper coins to the noodle shop owner when paying the bill, and then pushed Fu Huai along to Ping An Pharmacy.

Today they appeared to be out for a stroll, but in reality they were looking for clues. Because they were traveling together, the handsome man and beautiful woman were easily teased by passersby, but no one was wary of them.

That's how they managed to get some information out of them.

Upon arriving at Ping An's shop, Su An immediately sought out the shop owner and asked him if he had seen such an old woman.

Because of the man's peculiar appearance and strange behavior, the pharmacy owner actually remembered him. "Yes, there is indeed such a person."

He described it in more detail than the noodle shop owner, raising his hand to indicate the height, and then said: "It was probably an old woman this tall. Although her head was covered up completely, her eyes had obvious fine lines, and the back of her hands was dry and rough, which showed that she was old."

"His clothes weren't very nice, but the herbs he bought were quite expensive..."

As he spoke, he listed out the list of herbs the old woman had bought, which were none other than the herbal ingredients that Xie Qingfeng had analyzed in advance.

The case is solved! This person is the real culprit they've been looking for!

Unable to contain her excitement, Su An raised her voice: "Do you know where this person went after leaving the shop?"

This put the pharmacy owner in a difficult position. He exclaimed and shook his head, saying, "I'm so busy all day long, how could I possibly notice where the people who bought the medicine went? I only remember her because of her strange appearance and the fact that she seemed a bit sneaky."

Hearing this, Su An was not discouraged.

In fact, she had a vague guess in her mind as soon as the pharmacy owner started describing it.

With such a height and figure, and roughly matching her age, there is only one person—He Wangshi!

She subconsciously turned her head and met Fu Huai's gaze, only to find that Fu Huai had already guessed her thoughts and gestured to Zhou Li, who was not far behind, "Go and bring He Wangshi over."

Whether it is true or not, the pharmacy owner can tell at a glance.
