Chapter Twenty: The Matchmaker Arrives to Propose Marriage

“Who said I don’t like it?” Fu Zhun raised an eyebrow slightly and slowly dodged Su An’s hand.

"Besides, what's the point of asking for it back after it's been given to me?"

He chuckled softly, and under everyone's watchful eyes, calmly hung the purse on his waist.

"oh--"

Zhou Li and Sanwa immediately started to cheer, their gossipy eyes fixed on them.

Su An hadn't thought much of it at first, but after this interruption and seeing the playful smile in the man's dark eyes, she inexplicably became a little flustered.

Even at such close range, one could see the deep well in Fu Zhun's eyes, which were now softly reflected in her rosy cheeks.

"Well, don't just stand there, please come in!"

After saying that, Su An hurriedly turned around and went into the house, but the tips of her ears under her hair looked even redder and more delicate.

The master and servant had helped them a lot these past few days, so the family was exceptionally hospitable to them, welcoming them into the courtyard and serving them tea and water in a very warm and welcoming manner.

Zhou Li continued to dutifully create opportunities for his lord, pushing Fu Zhun into the kitchen before running away with a sly grin.

"Here you are." Su An was scooping up the sugar syrup boiling in the pot with a small spoon when she caught sight of him, and her bright eyes curved into a smile.

The kitchen was filled with the sweet aroma of sugar, which immediately captivated Fu Zhun, who pushed his wheelchair over with great interest.

She used a spoon as a pen and syrup as ink to quickly draw on the stone slab.

Su An, being skilled, didn't keep Fu Zhun waiting too long. After it cooled down, she used a small spatula to lift the sugar painting, stuck it onto a bamboo skewer, and tinkled it.

"Here, this is today's thank-you gift, a sugar figurine!" Su An slightly raised his chin, and his smug smile bloomed like a delicate flower in spring, leaving Fu Zhun stunned for a moment.

His gaze then shifted to the object she was holding.

The so-called "sugar figurine" shimmered with an amber luster, was crystal clear in the sunlight, and exuded a pure and sweet fragrance.

What surprised him even more was that the sugar figurine was actually his own image, just like a child, round and chubby, with his legs crossed, his brows furrowed, seriously reading a book.

Even the ink-wash-like strands of hair and the fluctuations in expression are depicted with exquisite detail and delicate beauty.

Fu Zhun's expression shifted dramatically, from astonishment to amazement, which made Su An burst out laughing. She became even more smug, saying, "This is a Q-version sugar figurine. You've never seen one before, have you?"

"Indeed, how can it be so small and exquisite?"

Fu Zhun's eyes widened in amazement, tinged with a hint of warmth. Su An's long eyelashes trembled under his gaze; she was almost blushing at the praise.

At this moment, Zhou Li, who had sneaked over following the aroma, exclaimed in surprise, "Wow, you had something good but didn't tell me!"

He suddenly rushed in through the door, leaned closer to take a closer look, and his eyes widened even more.

"Wow! What's this beautiful thing? I want one too, little boss!"

And his prince is even depicted on it, and drawn so adorably! It's practically turning the world upside down!

Zhou Li's hands were itching to take it and examine it more closely, but Su An raised her hand and snorted, "No, this is a special thank-you gift for your master. There are no people here to watch the show."

She hadn't forgotten this guy; he was always making jokes that were so embarrassing they could kill. Now she finally had a way to deal with him.

“Not bad.” Fu Zhun nodded in deep agreement, and under Zhou Li’s shocked and resentful gaze, he carefully took his own sugar figurine.

He glanced at Zhou Li with a half-smile and asked, "I contributed, what did you contribute?"

Zhou Li: "..."

I provided the assist!!!

You wicked prince, you're just crossing the river and then burning the bridge, aren't you!

"Tch, you two said you were already in love, and you're already husband and wife so quickly!" Zhou Li grumbled resentfully, which made Su An and Zhou Li cough, their cheeks burning slightly.

That loose tongue of a man is at it again!

But soon, the three siblings, who had heard the news, rushed over and were overjoyed to see the sugar figurines coming out of the oven, pushing Zhou Li, who looked like a complaining woman, aside.

"..." Now that's it, nobody's paying any attention to him anymore!

After seeing off the master and servant, Su An didn't rest. She bought sugar and other ingredients today, intending to make a new type of custard bun. The sugar figurine was just a side snack.

There's no rush for custard buns, and everyone's probably tired of seeing the same old steamed buns. Even if they taste good, sometimes we need something visually appealing.

So Su An and his family started making all sorts of small animal-shaped buns and steamed bread, eventually collecting all twelve zodiac animals, which looked quite novel.

Little Su Yue hummed a song in her childish voice, and when she sculpted a strangely shaped dragon, her almond-shaped eyes immediately lit up as she said, "Dragon, dragon, it suits brother-in-law!"

"Why are you calling your brother-in-law again?" Upon hearing this, Su An stumbled, crushing the dragon head in his hand.

Su Jiang and Su Ting exchanged a glance and then laughed loudly, "Big sister, you've given me a purse, and you've all done this and that, so it's no wonder you're going to have a brother-in-law soon!"

Like this... or that?

What kind of insolent and lewd words are those!

“Xiao An, I think so too.” Li Guihua gently echoed, then thought for a moment and said, “That young master is interested in you. I’ve been through this before, and I think it’s a good match.”

Su An looked up at the sky helplessly.

Why do all three of them, one big and one small, like to be so self-absorbed?

She simply doesn't believe it.

"Hey, members of the Su family, are you there? We have some good news for you!"

Suddenly, an old woman's cheerful shout rang out from outside the door.

"It's the matchmaker." Li Guihua recognized the voice and went to open the door in surprise to greet her.

A matchmaker actually came to her house?

"Oh, Su family, what a joyous occasion!" The matchmaker, dressed in a bright red floral dress and with a large red flower in her hair, squeezed into the door with a beaming smile.

Then, upon seeing Su An in the courtyard, she exclaimed in exaggerated surprise, "Your eldest daughter has grown so beautiful! She looks about sixteen or seventeen, the perfect age to get married, a time of blossoming youth!"

Upon hearing this, Su An frowned, inwardly thinking that it was indeed an ancient feudal custom.

The third child next to him immediately stood up as if facing a formidable enemy.

They're about to have a brother-in-law, why would the eldest sister marry someone else?!

They have to approve it first!

Since the visitor was a guest, and Li Guihua was also curious about who had come to propose marriage, she handed the matchmaker a cup of water and asked directly, "Who has come to propose marriage to my Xiao An?"

The matchmaker clapped her hands, her heavily made-up face beaming with joy, and said in a loud voice, "What a coincidence! He's just two streets away, the butcher's nephew! Just like you, his family also owns a shop. It's a perfect match!"

"And it's not far away, so even after my daughter gets married, she can come back to visit her parents' home anytime!"

"What?" Li Guihua's expression changed, and her lips immediately fell into a deep frown.

She slammed her fist on the table in anger, glared at the matchmaker, and snapped, "That butcher's nephew is a cripple! What are you up to, introducing my daughter to that good-for-nothing rich kid with a disability!"
