Chapter Fifty-Six: Settling Grudges

Upon hearing that chilling female voice, He Cheng's eyes widened suddenly, and his body trembled violently even faster than he could react.

"Su... Su An?!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Su An, dressed in prison clothes and with disheveled hair, climbed in through the window like a ghost.

Her oversized prison uniform was tattered and covered with whip marks and bloodstains, clearly indicating that she had been severely tortured.

At this moment, her pale face was still stained with a few drops of blood, filled with sinister hatred, as she gripped the butcher knife and approached step by step, dripping with blood.

"You didn't expect that, did you, He Cheng? Your grandma has escaped from prison. Anyway, I'd die in that dark and gloomy cell, so tonight I'll die with you!"

Escape from prison?!

"You madwoman, you crazy woman!" He Cheng was instantly terrified, his eyes filled with fear, and he desperately tried to back away.

Now, severely injured, he could barely turn over, and could only scream in terror, "Help! Help! Someone come quick—"

Bang!

"Scream all you want, no one can save you even if you scream your lungs out!" Su An brandished the butcher knife, narrowly missing his neck before slashing it across the bed, a cruel sneer on his face.

"He Cheng, He Cheng, I treated you with all my heart before, but you used sweet words to deceive me and almost ruined my family!"

"I finally built up a business, and you kept harassing me, even using anesthetic on me! I just beat you up to get revenge, but you so heartlessly sent me to jail!"

"Why?!"

Upon hearing Su An's question, He Cheng was both terrified and instantly enraged. He glared at her hatefully and roared, "You bitch, how dare you even mention that!"

"I only asked you for ten taels of silver back then, but what did you do? Seeing that I've achieved success, you're now desperately asking for that silver back. Aren't you just trying to take advantage of my kindness and become an official's wife as soon as possible? You think you're so noble!"

"Ha! I didn't bother with you, but you went around ruining my reputation, hindering my future, and leaving me with nothing! And yet you, you've built your business on my back, and now you're smug about it, shutting me out!"

As He Cheng recounted the past, his face became increasingly contorted with resentment, as if Su An before him was not his former lover, but rather an irreconcilable enemy.

Su An swayed in disbelief, looking at him with immense heartache, "Just because of this, you're going to drug me and try to kidnap me?!"

"Who told you to be so ungrateful? You forced me to do this!" He Cheng shouted hoarsely, seemingly gaining more confidence the louder his voice became.

"I warned you long ago! If you had been obedient and transferred the shop to me, I wouldn't have had to lay a hand on you! Now we've both suffered heavy losses, and I only regret that I didn't kill you with those ten taels of silver back then!"

Seeing He Cheng's resentful expression, Su An could no longer hold back and slapped him hard with trembling hands.

"You scumbag! Calling you a scumbag is too kind of you. You're a complete and utterly despicable, shameless, and vile bastard!"

Su An was so angry that her breathing trembled, but not for herself, but for the original owner of the body, she felt a deep sorrow and injustice.

When Su Dapo came to her door demanding repayment, the original owner had no choice but to send him a letter urging her to pay. Little did she expect that in the eyes of the man she loved so deeply, it would be seen as him trying to take advantage of her kindness and climb the social ladder!

This slap completely enraged He Cheng, and seeing that he couldn't escape, he started cursing loudly.

"What are you so smug about, you shameless slut? If it weren't for that cripple standing there, I would have thrown you into a beggar's den long ago, so you could taste what it's like to be spat on and cursed by thousands! You shameless whore who flirts with other women!"

Su An coldly glanced at He Cheng, who was shouting and cursing with a flushed face, and ignored him. She simply clapped her hands and said, "Come in!"

"What?"

He Cheng, panting heavily, was stunned.

With a creak, the door opened, and the county magistrate, leading a group of patrol fishermen, leaped in, quickly filling the small house.

"The county magistrate?! You... how could you—"

Lin Yong looked at the shocked He Cheng, his eyes blazing with anger, and shouted, "He Cheng, I have heard everything you just confessed to. You have no way to deny it this time!"

"Guards, immediately take the criminal He Cheng to prison and deal with him at a later date!"

"No! Impossible!"

He Cheng was shocked and, realizing what was happening, his bloodshot eyes glared at Su An. "You bitch, how dare you scheme against me!"

"I'll kill you! Aaaaaah!"

His eyes were bloodshot, but no matter how much he howled, he could only flail his arms and not move an inch.

He was quickly knocked unconscious by a karate chop from the police and carried away.

Seeing this, Su An relaxed his brows slightly, feeling much more at ease.

In this way, the original owner was able to vent his anger and settle a grudge.

As for the rest, it's about settling the whole family in!

The next day.

Su An slipped back home in the afternoon, just as the shop was finishing up. Only a few customers were walking around, and Zhang San and the others were cleaning up the dishes in the kitchen.

Yes, it's still thriving.

Su An smiled with satisfaction, and without disturbing anyone, slipped into the backyard and found Li Guihua first.

"Xiao An?"

Upon seeing Su An, Li Guihua thought she was seeing things and immediately put down her account book in surprise: "The county magistrate has let you go?!"

Su An blinked lightly, "Mother, He Cheng was arrested last night. I cleared my name, so the county magistrate had no choice but to release me."

"The announcement will be made in a few days after He Cheng's verdict is handed down."

Li Guihua's eyes welled up with tears again. She stroked her head, both amused and exasperated, "You're such a worrywart daughter. It's good that you're back, it's good that you're back!"

Su Anxin felt a pang in her heart, but she wasn't back to wallow in melancholy. Thinking of important business, she excitedly pulled Li Guihua into her room and then took out the jar that had been buried under the bed.

"Mom, this is my hidden stash of money. It's almost full. Can you help me count it?"

To Li Guihua's astonishment, Su An smashed the large earthenware jar, and a pile of silver coins gushed out.

"So...so much?"

Li Guihua was confused, but Su An urged her to count the silver together.

After calculating for a full half-incense stick's time, the final tally came to a staggering 1,572 taels!

Li Guihua was startled again. Su An packed up all the silver and smiled as she stuffed it into her arms. "Mother, this is all the extra money I've saved up on my own. I didn't count it as income. I just wanted to give it to you as a token of my filial piety. Please accept it."

Something's not right!

But Li Guihua couldn't quite put her finger on what was wrong. Just looking at her brightly smiling daughter, her heart inexplicably tightened, and she quickly grasped Su An's hands.

"Xiao An, tell your mother honestly, has something really happened?"

Su An couldn't help but think to herself, "Is this what they mean by the connection between mother and daughter? They're so perceptive."

But she didn't show it on her face. Instead, she smiled and said with a puzzled expression, "I originally wanted to save up this money to give to Mother during this period of time. Who knew that after this incident, I would be a little scared. So I wanted to give Mother this surprise as soon as possible. There's nothing wrong with it!"

With that, Su An patted his bottom and got up, even stretching in a mock manner. "I finally got out, and I wanted to go for a walk. I'll spend more time with Mom later! Let's go!"

Next, we need to find a school for the third child!
