Swallow her?
The older sister who was always smiling in my memory?
The woman who taught him to distinguish wild vegetables, how to preserve food, how to make persimmon cakes, and how persimmons that have been touched by frost are sweeter?
That was a long time ago.
But Suhe still remembers the golden-red flames that descended like a comet that night, and the golden-eyed woman standing in the phoenix phantom.
His body was stiff, like a silent stone statue, with only his eyes able to move, and deep within his pupils, a faint golden light shone.
—It is as if it were a living animal, with independent thoughts and wisdom.
If you look closely, you'll notice that his eyes are completely out of place with his other features, and there's always a layer of savagery and bloodlust floating in his eyes, just like the man opposite him.
Three years ago, the research institute captured a small meteorite that had fallen from outer space. When the meteorite landed on Earth, it was surrounded by black and gold flames.
At the time, Soho was just an ordinary researcher.
During his research on meteorites, he was burned by rays carried by the meteorite, resulting in permanent damage to his eyes and complete blindness.
He had no choice but to undergo an artificial eye transplant, but unexpectedly, the very next day after regaining his sight, this devilish presence appeared before him:
"So my eyes were on you—you should be honored for that. I don't mind if you kiss my feet, you lowly upright ape."
He thought it was some new kind of joke, but what happened next horrified him.
The man in front of him claimed to be his father, "Su Yaran," and appeared in the base with an air of nonchalance.
Colleagues and superiors at the research institute, acquaintances and neighbors I usually greeted, and even friends all seemed to have their memories altered overnight.
In their minds, the one who caused the experimental accident was "Su Yaran," a PhD in biological research at Hope Base, the initiator of the "Life Extension Plan" project, and the inventor of purification agents and evolutionary vaccines, while he was a well-known good son and great scientist.
It seems that everyone except him has inexplicably gained memories of "Su Yaran" in their minds, and can even describe some of "Su Yaran's" personality traits:
Fiery temper and easily angered, but meticulous and responsible at work...
The words uttered from the opening and closing of mouths sent chills down his spine:
"You mean Dr. Su? What's wrong? Did you argue with your dad again?"
"Are you kidding me? How come you don't even remember your own father? It was your father who led you all the way from G City to our A City base. I heard you encountered danger along the way. If you hadn't evolved into a new human halfway through, you and your father probably wouldn't have made it this far."
"You're asking me who you came to the City A base with? It was your dad and the little girl next door, right? Hmm, I think her name is DouDou, isn't it?"
Even if you ask the little girl who arrived at the base with you, you'll get the same answer:
"Brother, what's wrong? Didn't we escape with Uncle Su back then? Uncle Su even taught us how to dry wild vegetables, make dried meat, and make persimmon cakes!"
Su He felt as if she had been struck by lightning, and her internal organs were burning.
He was the only one who remembered that memory: phoenix phantoms filling the sky, golden flames burning away all evil, and a mysterious woman with black hair and golden eyes—it all seemed like a beautiful, fantastical dream.
He even began to wonder if he was going crazy.
The man then gave a strange and meaningful laugh:
"So that's how it is. You've been tainted by the scent of that lowly cub, which is why these eyes mistook you for me."
"Instead of killing you now, I'd rather use you to do something interesting."
"For example, by using human power to kill her."
...
...
Let's go back to the present.
Su He lowered her head and remained silent.
As if understanding this silent protest and struggle, Lavinia slowly sat back in the leather chair, an invisible pressure spreading from him to the surroundings.
"Snap!"
The glass on the table seemed to shatter under the pressure, and sharp shards of glass flew out, slitting the throat of the female android kneeling beside her.
Pale blue engine oil slowly flowed out, and another android silently dragged its companion's body out without uttering a word.
Lavinia then stopped what she was doing and looked leisurely at Soho, who was kneeling on the ground:
He seemed to be suffering immense pain, and he collapsed to his knees, large tears of blood rolling down his cheeks. His face was ashen, stained with blood, making him look like a hideous ghost.
"You want that cub to kill me."
Lavinia had regained her composure, as if she could see through people's hearts:
"But she couldn't kill me completely; the only relationship between us was one of devouring and being devoured."
Poor little reptile, nobody cares about your shady little thoughts. I bet if she knew what you'd done, she'd kill you without hesitation, as easily as crushing a few ants.
Ultimately, she's the same kind of person as me.
Lavinia laughed, her voice seductive, as if she were conjuring something up in her mind:
"You've seen how powerful those potions are, haven't you? In this world, only I can end this disaster that humanity cannot overcome."
I promise you, as long as you bring her to me, I will leave this planet forever.
"...cough cough, cough cough cough."
Suhe let out a long breath and looked up at Lavinia: "Why should I believe you?"
"The courage to question is commendable."
Lavinia clapped her hands and said nonchalantly, "You human cubs would pour boiling water into an anthill."
