Chapter 126 [Post-Apocalyptic Reconstruction] You didn't expect that, did you?

Outside the window, black fog and thick smoke billowed, and gunfire and heavy artillery clashed fiercely with the mutated plants.

The interior was exquisitely furnished, with a somber atmosphere. Lavinia sat on a leather chair with vacant eyes, Suhe stood on the carpet with no expression on her face, and Xu Milu stood against the wall out of sight of anyone.

The three of them were positioned in a subtle triangle, allowing Xu Milu to observe the expressions of the other two immediately.

"Father."

Su He lowered her head, her eyelashes casting an ambiguous shadow beneath her eyes: "I have brought the person you wanted. Please keep your promise and hand over the antidote to me."

Behind him, two android guards were escorting a slender woman with her head covered—it was unclear whether she was still conscious, she just stood there motionless.

Feeling deceived, Lavinia sneered, her blurry white eyes darting around, directly "looking" in the woman's direction:

"Oh? Is that so? My good son, you truly are my most loyal lackey. Bring her here so I can have a good look at her."

"good."

Su He stiffened, keenly sensing the awkward atmosphere in the room. But time was of the essence; if the plan failed, Hope Base would suffer the same fate as the previous destroyed base.

He held his breath and gestured to the two men behind him to come forward. The two android guards stepped forward and shoved the woman closer to Lavinia.

"Take off her hood."

Su He forced herself to calm down, but her right hand tightly gripped the remote control for a small, high-explosive bomb hidden in her hand.

—Just a tiny bit can destroy an entire building, and its power has already been proven on the mutated banana vine.

The woman with her head covered struggled, but her wrists were firmly restrained, and she collapsed at Lavinia's feet as if all her strength had been drained.

The black hood was removed, revealing a young face with a thin frame, short, sharp hair, and piercing eyes that inexplicably evoked the image of a wild leopard in the jungle.

Xu Milu blinked in surprise, feeling as if she had seen this person somewhere before.

"Let me see what you brought me back? Oh, it's a cute little leopard."

Lavinia sat there like a stone, leisurely stretching out his legs, slowly bending down, reaching out to pinch the woman's cheek, the two of them almost so close that they could feel each other's breath.

An ambiguous smile spread across his handsome face, and his white eyes rolled slightly.

His empty gaze swept brazenly over the woman's wheat-colored neck, then over her chest and slender waist, finally landing on her thighs, as if he were appraising a piece of merchandise.

"So it's Nalan. What, are you here to offer yourself as my bedmate? Although your personality suits my taste, your figure isn't up to par. I suggest you at least get breast implants first, that way it'll be more enjoyable to sleep with."

He suddenly revealed the woman's identity, startling everyone in the room.

The woman lying on the ground reacted the fastest. With a somersault, she freed her hands from behind her back, twisted her wrists, and aimed an electromagnetic cannon directly at Lavinia's forehead.

"You can't see me at all! How could you possibly recognize me!"

—This woman is Nalan, the captain of the base's dispatch team, and also one of the enemies who are at odds with the Su family father and son.

"Was it my good son who told you I couldn't see?"

Lavinia burst out laughing, as if she had seen something amusing:

"It seems that the people who tried to assassinate me over the past three years are all connected to you, and the conflict between you was just a performance for me."

Humans are really interesting. They are so weak that they can be crushed with a single finger, yet they are very good at lying.

I thought you were my most loyal lackey, but you're actually a wolf cub with treacherous intentions. That's good, saves me the trouble of dismembering you later; it'll be no fun playing with you then.

His gaze slowly turned cold, seemingly unafraid of the electromagnetic cannon pointed at his forehead. He stood up and walked to the window, meeting everyone's gaze.

"Listen to the cheers of your compatriots before they die. Today is the end of this base. That little brat who came to kill me has probably been led out of the city by the clues I left behind. By the time she finds my trail, this city will have long been turned into a living hell."

"Hand over the antidote formula for the zombie virus immediately, or I'll open fire!"

Nalan's eyes were filled with deep-seated hatred, as if he wished he could blow Lavinia to pieces with a single cannon shot.

"You're absolutely insane! What gives you the right to be so high and mighty? What makes you think humans are insects? Even insects will fight back someday!"

"boom!!"

The massive cannon suddenly exploded, a burst of fire shooting into the sky from the top floor, shattering the glass walls and sending countless tiny fragments flying. The entire building was almost shaking.

Nalan suddenly unleashed a powerful attack, with a large-caliber shell spewing out scorching flames. The intense heat blasted through half of the wall, creating a gaping hole in the top floor. Broken steel bars twisted and turned, and chunks of cement kept falling down.

The androids guarding the side suddenly rushed forward, their knees extended to reveal dark gun barrels, and began firing continuously towards Lavinia:

"Da da da! Da da da da!"

"Diu diu diu! Diu diu diu!"

The entire room was destroyed, and the floor was covered with shards of glass. From the outside, it looked like half of the top floor of the research institute had been blown off, exposing the skeleton of the building.

From the shadows, Lavinia emerged unharmed: "The Particle Superheated Electromagnetic Cannon TR562, the latest research achievement of the research institute."

He "looked" at Nalan: "This is your trump card? Using what I gave you to deal with me? Should I say you're naive, or should I say you're adorably stupid?"
