Chapter 14 [Magic Dimension] Secret Meeting at the Adventurers' Guild (shuhaige.net)

The next morning, Xu Milu arrived at the tavern entrance at the agreed time, but Fanny was already waiting there. Upon seeing her, the little girl excitedly ran towards her.

"Lord Qingluan!!"

She seemed to have forgotten that she was still shackled and almost tripped over the chains. Xu Milu quickly took a few steps to catch her, only to find that Fanny was still holding a large green leaf.

Inside the large leaves is a spherical berry that looks exactly like a gooseberry. Its unusually bright pink pattern makes it look a bit strange. The broken leaf stalk of the berry is still very fresh, which shows that the berry was picked not long ago.

Sasa fruit: a small, non-toxic berry with a sweet and sour taste.

Fanny looked up at Xu Milu, her eyes filled with anticipation:

"There weren't many customers at the tavern this morning. I gave the owner that big copper coin, and he gave me special permission to come out for two hours. Lord Qingluan, this is... this is a sago berry I picked in the woods this morning. It's delicious!!"

Xu Milu noticed that Fanny's calves were covered with fine, dense scratches, as if they had been scratched by bushes.

She looked up at the sky; it was only just dawn. There weren't many places in the city where the berries grew, which meant that Fanny had gone to the forest south of the city early in the morning to pick these fresh berries.

"Because Lady Qingluan is very powerful, she drove away the bad guys for Fanny and even let Fanny eat white bread, so Fanny also wants to share the food with Lady Qingluan!"

Fanny excitedly tiptoed and warmly invited Xu Milu to try the small berries.

"Thank you, these berries look absolutely delicious, but we need to treat your wound first."

Xu Milu took the large leaf, patted Fanny's head, and cast a spell on her calf, performing a "rain-transforming spell." In just a moment, the tiny wounds slowly disappeared, turning into white marks.

Fanny circled Xu Milu once, her fluffy tail wagging rapidly behind her:

"Wow! The wound doesn't hurt at all anymore! It's amazing!!"

Xu Milu noticed that the little girl was wearing shackles on her feet, so she put the bunch of fruit into the system space separately and bent down to pick up Fanny.

"!!! Master Qingluan!"

The little orc was somewhat panicked, clearly not used to the sudden change in eye level, and its large tail stood stiffly like a fire poker.

"Walking like this will be faster. I'm not used to seeing little kids walking barefoot. By the way, would you like some milk, Fanny? A cup of warm milk in the morning will wake you up for the whole day."

Xu Milu bounced the little girl in her arms and found that the child weighed less than half the weight of other children her age, almost frighteningly light. She then magically produced a can of hot milk and some soft bread, and without a word, stuffed them into Fanny's arms.

"Eat quickly, I need your help to find my way! You're the first friend I made in West Copeland, and friends should help each other, shouldn't they?"

Fanny clutched the milk and bread in her hands, her eyes slightly red, and after a long pause, she whispered her thanks to Xu Milu:

"...Thank you for acknowledging that I am your friend, Lord Qingluan."

Xu Milu simply patted her head in response.

...

...

On the top floor of the Adventurers' Guild, the guild leader's lounge was enveloped in a faint green glow—a magic circle cast by mages to prevent eavesdropping.

"Click—"

"Chirp chirp chirp! Chirp chirp!"

The window was pushed open from the inside, startling a flock of birds perched by the window. The sound of their flapping wings filled the air. A man sitting in a lounge chair spoke with a smile:

"Hey Andrew, there's no need to be so nervous. Are you worried that those poor little birds will eavesdrop on our plans?"

The man who opened the window turned around, and sunlight streamed in beside him, casting a large shadow on his face.

"—So, Lord, you want to use the 'Slime Witch' and her king-level turtle-shaped magical beast to weaken the power of other nobles in the territory, while at the same time blaming this as the source of the increased city entry tax and forced slavery? By the God of Light, as far as I know, that huge magical beast is comparable in size to a dragon. If we really anger it, even if we risk the entire Adventurers' Guild, we don't have enough power to resist that witch."

"Hahahaha! Relax, relax. If there really were a powerful King-level magical beast in the forest, the priests of the Temple of Light and the Temple of the Dark Goddess would have given a warning in advance. Those rumors about the 'Slime Witch' and the King-level magical beast are not true. My best knight once saw that magical beast. It moved extremely slowly and could not use magic. It just looked rather large—"

The middle-aged man sitting on the sofa was dressed in fine clothes, with no fewer than five magical rings on his hands and a griffin badge representing the Campbell family pinned to his chest—he was none other than the newly appointed lord of Westco County, Egard Long Campbell.

Besides the two people in the room, there was an exceptionally tall figure standing behind Aigard:

He had silver-white hair, and his thick muscles seemed to burst out of his linen clothes. His broad shoulders made him look like a stone tower, and his beast-like ears had a deep, bone-revealing brand—a magical contract representing his status as a slave.

“My dear Andrew, now is a perfect opportunity. I plan to use the church’s name to wipe out the monsters in the forests surrounding Westco County. My men will lie in ambush there beforehand, using bait to lure that giant monster into the city. Then, the remaining forces of the Ackerman family will perish along with this monster…”
