In the Tang Dynasty, dumplings were called "laowan". Steamed dumplings were called "laowan in a steamer", while boiled dumplings were called "laowan in soup". The fillings were varied and delicious. The ways of eating them were also different. Some people liked to dip them in sugar or salt, while others liked to eat them with alcohol.
As the two were talking, they saw the Tang Monk dressed in plain clothes walking step by step toward the restaurant, followed by Sun Wukong disguised as a little novice monk.
Yin Wenjiao looked flustered and hurriedly tried to leave, but the sorcerer knelt down even faster, pleading:
"Mother, could you spare me a bowl of vegetarian food?"
The Tripitaka Master clasped his hands together, tears streaming down his face, and said:
"I was born after my mother carried me for ten months. She has suffered so much for me. I only beg you to have pity on me and give me a bowl of reunion dinner."
Yin Wenjiao could no longer hide her tears; she covered her face and sobbed softly, quickly stepping forward to catch her son.
"How dare you bow to me! Get up now..."
"My mother gave me life, how can I not worship her?"
Sanzang shook his head; one could see a resemblance between his face and Yin Wenjiao's.
Xu Milu's dumplings were also cooked. She took two large bowls, put a handful of dried seaweed, some mushroom powder, and salt in them, then ladled in a spoonful of dumplings and added a bowl of hot soup.
The freshly cooked vegetarian dumplings have thin wrappers and generous fillings. The cabbage and tofu filling is incredibly delicious. One bite reveals the rich aroma of wheat and the springy texture of tofu. A sip of the steaming soup truly warms you from your stomach to your heart.
Yin Wenjiao looked at the Tripitaka Master and began to silently shed tears again. After hesitating for a long time, she simply pushed the bowl in front of her.
"Eat quickly, eat quickly."
...

Mother and son, upon meeting, naturally had much to say. Xu Milu put down two bowls of dumplings and slipped away, only to turn around and see Sun Wukong, in his original form, squatting on the wall waiting for her, grinning at her like a monkey.
"Little one, you handled this matter swiftly and efficiently, very good! My master and Lady Yin seem to have some private matters to discuss. Let them talk amongst themselves, and I'll take you to the Dragon Palace for a bit of fun."
Xu Milu searched around but couldn't find where Mo Xuan had hidden, so she simply took off her apron, went back to change her clothes, and came out:
"Great Sage, let's go, I'm all ready!"
