Wei Ying was not polite at all:
"If Madam Xu won't let you see your sister-in-law, then you'll go and drown your sorrows in alcohol? A cheer came from above their heads. Wei Ying looked closely and saw that Mo Xuan was sitting cross-legged on the roof, looking at Lu Wenshan with disdain.

In Xu Milu's words, the most disheartening person in the whole affair was Lu Wenshan.
He used the pretense of obtaining the demon core to trick Lu Wenshan into marriage from the very beginning. If Shiyi Niang were truly some naive little demon, she would probably still be foolishly thinking that Lu Wenshan had no other choice.
