How did you know what I was looking for?
Xu Milu put the boy down, a little curious.
Although the boy was terrified, he pretended to be calm, his eyes fixed on Xu Milu:
"I...I know! You're looking for something valuable. Before the disaster, G City had a batch of holographic gaming helmets that hadn't been released yet. If you can take me to the shelter in A City, I'll tell you where it is!"
Holographic gaming helmet?
Xu Milu was indeed very interested in this.
Before she could ask anything else, she heard a long "gurgling" sound, and when she looked again, the boy's face was full of embarrassment and silence.
"Hungry? Then let's eat first."
Xu Milu turned around and went back to where she had just cooked over a fire, pretending to take two bags of bread and a bottle of milk out of her backpack and hand them to the boy.
"..."
The boy didn't move, but his eyes were fixed on the two pieces of bread. After mentally preparing himself, he looked at Xu Milu and, seeing that she didn't seem to have any intention of backing out, he snatched the bread, tore open the packaging, and began to wolf it down.
The boy choked on his bread because he ate too fast, but he still refused to let go of the big loaf in his hand, wishing he could stuff his stomach full.
"Eat slowly, eating too fast will hurt your stomach."
Seeing that he was about the same age as Xu Minian, Xu Milu couldn't help but feel a little soft-hearted and handed him the milk.
"Hiccup! Hiccup!"
The boy burped twice, took a sip of milk, and only then had time to answer her question, his face showing a maturity beyond his years.
"People must survive first before they can worry about trivial things like getting sick. My name is Su He, the 'Su' from Su Shi and the 'He' from lotus."
"My name is Xu Milu, the 'Xu' of 'gentle breeze,' the 'mi' of 'rice,' and the 'lu' of 'dew.'"
Xu Milu, resting her chin on her hand, watched him eat a piece of bread and then stop, and couldn't help but remind him:
"You shouldn't eat too much at once if you've been hungry for too long, but since you're going to help me, you won't go hungry. There's still bread."
Su He shook her head, simply putting the bread into her bosom, glancing around warily as she did so, and whispered to Xu Milu:
"Tomorrow morning at nine o'clock, I'll take you to find that batch of holographic game helmets, but you have to promise me you'll take me to the A City shelter, otherwise, otherwise I'll—"
He seemed unable to think of a way to threaten Xu Milu, so he could only sigh dejectedly and look up to plead:
"I know you're amazing, please, please take me to City A. I'm very capable; I can fly a flying vehicle, I know how to avoid zombies, and I can carry your things. If you find it troublesome, just take me away from City G, please!"
I promise you.
Xu Milu affirmed:
"I'll be waiting for you here at nine o'clock tomorrow morning. After I find what I want, I'll take you away."
A glimmer of hope flashed in Su He's eyes. Clutching the bottle of milk tightly, she tiptoed away the way she came.
[Host, you always seem to be exceptionally lenient towards the elderly and children?]
Xiaoqi is online again, this time asking questions with a strong sense of curiosity:
[Aren't you afraid the other party is a scammer?]
Xu Milu turned around to examine the powerless aircraft behind her, answering without looking up:
"Let's just lie to him. It's just two loaves of bread. To me, it's just a little after-dinner snack, but to this child, it might be his hope for survival. In human art, children are always a symbol of hope. And I happen to need a local guide. By the way, how exactly do you use this thing?"
The spherical aircraft looks like a round, large egg. Its exterior is pure white and inlaid with beautiful silver patterns. Through the glass window, you can see that there is no steering wheel inside, only a row of circular seats, somewhat similar to the "giant teacup" in an amusement park.
[This is a solar-powered levitation sphere, powered by solar energy. It contains an identification chip that can scan and identify the user. Since the host is not a resident of this plane and does not have a biochip implanted in their body, it cannot be used.]
"So we really have to rely on this kid to be our guide?"
Xu Milu patted the "big eggshell": "Then let's wait one night."
...
...
When the appointed time arrived the next day, Su He was late. Xu Milu waited for another half hour, but the slender figure still did not appear at the other end of the street.
During the day, the zombies were not very active. Occasionally, a few unlucky zombies would try to come up and taste her, but they were all slashed by Xu Milu.
—Although magic can be used in this world, there's still a satellite in the sky, and Xu Milu doesn't want to be seen as some kind of monster.
[Host, you've been tricked.]
Seeing that a lot of time had passed, Xiaoqi pointed this out without any mercy.
"How about we wait a bit longer? I have plenty of time anyway."
Xu Milu touched her chin and checked the time for the third time, only to find an exceptionally thin figure at the end of the road.
It was Su He, panting heavily as he dragged a large suitcase, followed by several zombies that had come running at the sound of his voice.
Xu Milu stepped forward without hesitation, slicing zombies one by one as easily as chopping radishes. She was now able to kill zombies with considerable composure.
"Thanks."
Suhe was exhausted and out of breath, but she still hadn't forgotten the black suitcase in her hand.
"Is this yours?"
Xu Milu wanted to help carry it, but Su He was unusually wary and wouldn't let her touch it.
"No! I, I mean, I can do it myself. Those holographic gaming helmets are in the underground warehouse of the downtown gaming plaza. We can drive there."
"You can drive? Are you old enough to drive?"
