Chapter 23 The Bear's Gratitude

Xu Milu had calculated that the time ratio between Earth and the Gourmet World was one to ten. The longer she stayed here, the more irritable the female bear and mastiff in the Gourmet World would become.

She was away from the Gourmet Realm for more than three hours, which would have been a whole day and night if she had stayed there. It was unknown whether the mother bear's fury would affect the other creatures in the Snow Valley.

Fortunately, the little Tibetan Mastiff's life was saved.

But the problem is, how is she going to explain to the mother bear-mastiff that her cub might have been castrated?

Xu Milu held up the Mastiff puppy and stared at the two still not very noticeable "little bells" for a long time.

The little Tibetan Mastiff, its beady black eyes wide, excitedly wagged its tail, completely unaware of what Xu Milu was thinking.

"Woof woof!!"

"Alright, better to live than die. It's better to be alive than dead. When you see your mother later, you'd better wail as loud as you can, you hear me?"

The little mastiff moved its head, clearly not understanding Xu Milu's meaning, and stuck out its milky tongue.

Xu Milu shook her head, held up the little bear-dog dog, and proudly activated the dimensional jumper.

In just a moment, the scenery changed, day and night switched, day turned into dusk, and what came into view was lush greenery.

It was the same place she had left before, with the same familiar stream, but the surrounding trees looked as if they had been hit by a category 9 typhoon, snapped in half, and the vines on the ground were broken.

The large rocks beside the stream were also damaged, and pebbles were scattered all over the mudflats, leaving only one huge pit after another.

The enormous handprint on the ground testifies to the identity of the perpetrator and the extent of its rage at the time.

Xu Milu swallowed hard, holding the little Tibetan Mastiff.

"Son, how about I leave you here and you find your mother by following the scent?"

"Awooooo!"

The little Tibetan Mastiff let out two tender barks, seemingly smelling its mother's scent. It happily raised its head and licked Xu Milu's face, as if it wanted to wash her face.

!!

It's that familiar, creepy feeling again!

This time, Xu Milu learned her lesson. Without looking back, she put the little Mastiff on the ground, turned around, and ran away to distance herself from the dog.

"roar!!!"

With a loud roar, the mountain-sized mother bear mastiff leaped out of the dense forest, almost impatiently snatching the cub in her mouth, tilting her head back and tossing it into her arms to lick it tenderly.

"Awooooo, awooooo—"

Upon seeing its mother, the puppies let out a soft, weak, almost affectionate whimper and eagerly snuggled into her arms.

The mother Mastiff licked her pup from head to toe, and noticing the strange-looking plaster cast, was about to scratch it off with her paws when Xu Milu stopped her:

"Don't touch it! Its injury hasn't healed yet; we have to wait until its hind leg is fully healed before we can remove it!"

Then she received a death stare from the mother bear mastiff.

When stared at by a giant beast, a person will unconsciously freeze, because it is a kind of dread etched into their genes, a natural fear of carnivores.

"Huffing and puffing—"

The mother bear-mastiff was panting heavily, clearly still remembering how Xu Milu had taken the cub away in front of her, and bared her teeth threateningly.

"roar!!"

But their attitude was clearly much more peaceful.

Xu Milu pointed to the little Tibetan Mastiff in her arms, then pointed to herself:

"I was trying to save it. See, it's alright now, isn't it? I didn't lie to you."

"Awooo—"

The little Mastiff barked twice, and a hint of tenderness flashed in the mother Mastiff's cold black eyes. She nuzzled the cub in her arms with her nose and barked twice more.

Xu Milu pretended not to see the "crime scene" that had been destroyed beyond recognition, and slowly took a step closer. Although the female mastiff raised her head, she did not make any further moves.

"Look, its hind leg has been treated with medicine. It can't get wet for the next few days. We can only remove this white thing once the leg bone has completely healed."

Xu Milu patiently explained to the mother bear and mastiff. The giant beast stared at her for a long time, then slowly retracted its claws as if it had understood.

"roar……"

This sound was clearly much friendlier.

...

...

That night, Xu Milu lit a fire, and the two moons in the sky remained one full and one waning.

The unfortunate little Mastiff was noticeably more energetic than during the day, nestled in its mother's arms and purring incessantly. Several other Mastiff puppies of similar size were biting each other at their mother's feet, making purring noises.

The pack of bear mastiffs seemed to be very afraid of fire. Apart from the female bear mastiff leader, the rest of the bear mastiffs lay far away to the side.

Some of the Tibetan Mastiffs, upon seeing Xu Milu looking over, immediately lay down on the ground, covering their eyes with their paws, looking like ostriches.

Seeing this, the bear mastiffs nearby followed suit, and soon the ground was covered with bear mastiffs covering their eyes, creating an incredibly silly and adorable scene.

Soon the bear mastiffs responsible for hunting returned, bringing a large amount of meat. The size of the prey they brought back showed just how complex the bear mastiffs' diet was.

The pack has a strong sense of hierarchy. The female bear mastiffs are the first to enjoy the meal, and only after she and her cubs have eaten their fill are the rest of the pack members entitled to a meal.

"roar?"

But the lead white-necked mastiff didn't bite down. Instead, it tore off a rather large piece of meat, slowly placed it in front of Xu Milu, and nudged her shoulder with its nose, indicating that she should eat it.

Hundreds of eyes fell on her, like tiny, dimly glowing light bulbs, which looked somewhat eerie.

Xu Milu shook her head: "Thank you for your kindness, but I'm not hungry."
