As they drove slowly past, they could see half an arm, gnawed away and reduced to bone, protruding from the shattered windows of the aircraft. Occasionally, a vulture a meter tall would perch on top of the aircraft, let out a couple of strange cries, and then fly away quietly.
"Wow! Sister, look, it's a big bird!!"
Their RV was the only one traveling on the entire highway, lonely and desolate, and DouDou's childish words only highlighted the absurdity and strangeness of this world.
The oppressive atmosphere continued into the afternoon. As they drove past several tall trees, Xu Milu stopped the car again.
"What's wrong? Are there zombies?"
Suhe alertly raised the iron ball in his hand, a self-defense weapon he had picked up from an abandoned aircraft by the roadside.

Xu Milu stepped on the brakes and pulled over to the side of the road. The terrain here was open, and she could see more than 100 meters away at a glance, so she didn't have to worry about being attacked.
The trees she was focusing on had very lush foliage. Their trunks were straight and cylindrical, with long branches that almost reached the ground. The alternate leaves were narrow and thin, with a layer of white wax on the back of the dark green leaves, making them feel slippery to the touch. At the top of the trunk, the new branches were a tender green, and the leaves were a pale yellow.
"This is—a willow tree? I've seen pictures of it in my botany textbook before. Can this be eaten?"
Su He looked up at Xu Milu climbing the tree and couldn't help but ask.
"Yes, of course you can eat it. To put it bluntly, people can eat anything that pigs like, and some wild vegetables that pigs don't like, people do like to eat."
Xu Milu nimbly jumped up the tree, decisively broke off a few tender branches and leaves, and threw them down:
"Here you go, tonight we'll have vegetable dumplings and cold willow leaf tips."
