Chapter 236 Madman & Return

This is a completely sealed room. As soon as you step into the room, you can smell an extremely strong stench of blood. Under the dim light of a flashlight, you can see countless splatters of blood on the ceiling, walls, and even the floor. The blood flowers have congealed on the floor, and they have a strange and disgusting sticky feel when you step on them.

"Splash—"

"Splash—"

"Hehehehe...hehehe...hehehe..."

"Ho ho! Ho ho! Roar!"

"Roar!!"

The roars of zombies rang out. On the rack that was originally used to hold the aircraft, four zombies, three large and one small, were chained together. All of them had white eyes, bloodless faces, no human consciousness, and only followed their instincts to crave flesh and blood.

These zombies were all quite clean, and you could tell what they looked like before they were born. There were two older zombies, a female zombie with long black hair, and a small zombie. Judging from their faces, it wasn't hard to guess that the man in front of them was related to them by blood.

Scattered on the ground were scattered bones, including half a human arm. When they opened the door, the little zombie was still gnawing on a human head, making a "humming" sound of enjoyment.

"...You feed zombies with humans?"

Xu Milu felt nauseous; it was an uncontrollable physical discomfort.

No wonder she always felt there was something strange about Lao Hei. The idea that his wife and son were at the base in City A was just a lie he made up to comfort himself!

His family had long since turned into zombies. He was guarding this place not to earn supplies, but to "hunt" passing living people to feed his zombies!

Judging from the corpses and bones on the ground, the number of people who died here must be much higher than the number of those who died!

"You're not allowed to say that about them!!! They're just sick, they'll be fine soon!!"

Old Hei suddenly flew into a rage and kicked the white bones on the ground with all his might:

"What makes you so noble?! Why is it that you get bitten and become an enviable 'infected,' while my family is stuck here, unable to even recognize me! Why? You two siblings deserve to die! Why are you so lucky? Why weren't you the ones who died? Why weren't you the ones who turned into monsters?!"

His mind seemed to have deteriorated; his eyes held only a morbid pleasure.

"We traveled a long way, encountering so many dangers, and we gritted our teeth and made it through. But I never expected this, damn it! That night I went out to find food, and I don't even know when my son was bitten. When I came back, he had already bitten through the throats of his mother and grandparents—"

Why? Why? Why?! We were so close to reaching City A, so close to being safe! Why?!

But it's alright, it's alright. As long as I eat you, my family will turn back to normal, and we can be happy together again. This time, we'll never be separated again—”

"Hehehe!!"

"Hehe!"

"Roar roar roar roar!"

Several zombies seemed to have spotted living people and let out excited roars.

"Wife, Mom and Dad, don't worry, we'll start eating soon."

Old Hei pulled out his gun and pointed it at Xu Milu:

"My son is hungry, so I'm sorry. Don't worry, I won't let your brother get away with this either. I'll send that child to the base in City A for you. She won't know any of this. All infected people deserve to die! They all deserve to die!"

So, I should thank you?

Xu Milu realized that reasoning with a madman was pointless. She slowly turned around and suddenly noticed a similar bite mark on Lao Hei's neck. Although it looked lighter than Su He's, it was indeed a zombie bite mark.

A thought struck her.

"Let me guess, you know so much about 'infected people' that it's definitely not just from what you hear on the radio. According to you, all your family members turned into zombies. So who subdued them? And who tied them up here? So can I boldly speculate that you were bitten that day, but you accidentally became an 'infected person' instead of a zombie?"

Xu Milu stared intently at Lao Hei, each word striking his heart like a hammer blow:

“You hate that you’re the only one who survived, and you hate that you’re the only one who became ‘infected,’ so you wish we were dead—if they are still your family, then why did you choose to tie them up?”

Old Hei remained silent, but did not answer her question. He simply raised the electromagnetic gun in his hand.

"call out!"

A pale blue light shot out from the gun barrel, and Xu Milu instantly flashed behind Lao Hei, neatly disarming him and throwing the gun into her system slot, easily catching the fist that was thrown at her.

"What do you know! What do you know!!! I'm not afraid to die, I'm not afraid to die!"

Old Hei grinned, revealing a set of sharp teeth, but before he could even open his mouth to bite, Su He suddenly jumped out from the side and shoved him against the wall.

"You're insane!! You're feeding zombies with living people!! Look closely! Are they your family?! They only see flesh and blood, only slaughter! They're no longer human!!!"

Su He pressed down hard on Lao Hei's head, forcing him to see clearly what the zombies looked like:

Its skin was pale and bluish-white, and its gaping maw contained fine, serrated teeth. No blood flowed beneath its stiff skin, and a thin film covered its grayish-white eyeballs. The corners of its mouth still bore traces of red and white from devouring living people.

"Hehe—"

"roar!!"

"Hehehe—"
