Chapter 304 Glowing Mushroom and Bamboo Shoot Noodle Soup

Xu Milu worked quickly, breaking apart a crisp and tender bok choy, washing it clean, and tearing it into small pieces along the grain. She removed the stems from the small shiitake mushrooms and cut them into thick shreds. She peeled the bamboo shoots and diced them, and set aside the chopped cilantro.

Heat oil in a wok, add a piece of solidified lard and heat until the lard is completely melted. Add shredded shiitake mushrooms and diced bamboo shoots and stir-fry until the shiitake mushrooms turn golden brown. Then add the diced bamboo shoots and stir-fry together.

Cook noodles in clear broth, add a handful of crisp and tender bok choy, and once the noodles are cooked, drain them and put them in a bowl. Add a spoonful of mushroom and bamboo shoot sauce, half a spoonful of soy sauce, a spoonful of aged vinegar, a little salt and sugar, and finally pour in a few spoonfuls of boiling hot noodle soup and a few drops of sesame oil. A steaming bowl of vegetarian noodles with mushrooms and bamboo shoots is ready.

Xu Milu carefully poured out a grain of "golden sand" from the glass bottle, and with a gentle shake of her hand, the grain of gold fell into the soup bowl.

To better savor the flavor of the golden particles formed from incense, she chose to make a simple bowl of plain noodles—so until she figured out how to obtain these golden particles, the bottle contained the last tangible incense in the world.

"Pop—"

As the grains fell into the soup bowl, the surface of the soup swayed slightly. Just as Xu Milu was disappointed that nothing had changed, the entire bowl of noodles suddenly lit up at an extremely fast speed.

? ? ?

Xu Milu was practically glued to the bowl of noodles, staring intently, but the light was so fleeting that she wouldn't have noticed the change if she hadn't had excellent eyesight.

She blinked, tentatively scooped up a spoonful of soup, and noticed that there seemed to be flowing golden light flickering in the clear broth.

The faint golden light wasn't as dazzling as Buddha's light, nor as eye-catching as pearl luster, but it still drew people's attention—the shimmering golden light reflected in Xu Milu's surprised gaze as the noodle soup swayed.

"A glowing surface? Is this from Cooking Master Boy??"

She tentatively took a sip of the noodle soup, and the next second she couldn't help but take a slight breath.

This is just a simple bowl of vegetarian noodles. The bamboo shoots were delivered by Hu Silang this morning, the mushrooms were bought from the Earth Market, the flour was made from this year's new wheat, and the amount of all the seasonings was calculated according to the amount she usually uses when cooking.

But even with such an ordinary bowl of vegetarian noodles with shiitake mushrooms and bamboo shoots, just one sip of the soup left her with no other thoughts but "deliciousness".

It doesn't matter what the noodles taste like, what the bamboo shoots taste like, or what the mushrooms taste like. The only thing this bowl of noodles gives her is the most direct feeling of deliciousness. Any additional adjectives to describe its deliciousness would be superfluous.

Xu Milu was certain that even if Cui Shengguo were to prepare a state banquet dish, no matter how delicious or beautiful it was, it would pale in comparison to this bowl of luminous noodles—it was simply too domineering and unreasonable.

By the time she came to her senses, she had already finished the entire bowl of mushroom and bamboo shoot noodle soup, leaving not a single drop of soup behind.

Xu Milu patted her stomach contentedly, feeling a warm glow inside. Even more surprisingly, given her appetite, this small bowl of noodles made her feel full.

"Xiao Qi, have you ever encountered something like this before? I mean, the incense turning into a tangible thing. Since the encyclopedia contains information about incense, maybe we can find relevant records."

[...searching...]

[...No records found, host.]

Xiaoqi seemed a little confused, but still continued:

[Perhaps this is a substance similar to an energy source, but I haven't found any record of it in ancient texts on Earth or in the Journey to the West universe.]

"As my power grows stronger, my physical body and my appetite will also grow larger. If just one incense pellet can fill me up, then I can use it to replenish my energy in the future."

Xu Milu thought for a moment and speculated:

"I remember you said that your previous host was almost half the size of the Earth. Such a huge body must have required a lot of energy to support its movement. Could there be records that it was used as food by your previous host?"

Xiaoqi's electronic sound is stuck:

[I'm sorry, host, the records on this subject have been damaged by the spacetime turbulence. If I can find more fragments of the dimensional system, perhaps I can find more records.]

"The first batch of players in the Food Continent have begun exploring the otherworldly map. This time I have added fifty more players. I guess I will be able to find the fourth dimensional fragment soon."

Xu Milu calculated carefully and said:

"I found the first three fragments of the dimensional system on Earth. Finding more fragments means we're one step closer to your previous host. Keep it up."

I agree.

Xiaoqi's electronic voice carried a hint of excitement:

[Host, I'm also working hard to become a true mechanical life form. I'm glad to have more gamers as my reference material.]

The excited little tone sounded just like a dog asking for a pat. Xu Milu rubbed her fingers together, feeling a pang of regret that Xiao Qi didn't have a physical form, otherwise she could have patted the other's head.

...

...

In the Journey to the West world, gods and Buddhas abound, and Taoism and Buddhism are subtly vying for followers. Given the unusual situation with the incense offerings, Xu Milu dared not ask anyone else.

She originally intended to go to Flower Fruit Mountain to see Sun Wukong, but when the black baboon guarding the cave saw her arrive, it shamelessly called out, "Grandma!"

"Grandma's here! The King has ordered that I have been waiting for you here! A few days ago, the King rode the clouds to Mount Hua and told us little ones to wait here. He said that if you, Grandma, came, he would ask me to bring you a message!"
