Chapter 4 [Magic Dimension] Vegetable Salad with Slime Skin

What is the image of a slime in the minds of ordinary people?

A monster that is in a jelly-like or semi-transparent liquid state and can change shape at any time to split or merge?

Or perhaps it's a slimy, low-level monster in an RPG game that has no attack power?

Or is it a terrifying being from a famous anime that can devour everything?

Xu Milu was thinking seriously, while reaching out and pinching the slime in her hand.

The texture was strange, like a water-filled balloon, but the moment she touched the creature, the clump of slimy substance rapidly changed shape, enveloping her hand and attempting to devour it.

"Duang—Duang—"

The blue, semi-transparent magical creature shook its body, emitting a sound similar to that found in anime. Its jelly-like body slowly softened, and through its semi-transparent form, Xu Milu could clearly see that the slime was secreting a light green, transparent mucus, which was probably similar to "stomach acid."

"What kind of energy does this thing use to operate? Spiritual energy? Magic? It doesn't even have a brain, so how does it avoid danger?"

Xu Milu curiously picked it up and examined it closely, trying to find something like a brain, but the slime was completely exposed inside and out. There was no brain, let alone anything like a core.

It's practically a giant version of a water sprite, and it can even move on its own.

She tried chanting a spell, summoning a spark. The blue slime didn't even have time to dodge before it was burned into a puddle of water, cracking open and scattering on the ground with a "splat".

"Duang—Duang—"

"Duang—Duang!"

"Duang! Duang!"

Countless slimes surged forward like a tide, desperately sucking up the puddle of slime on the ground. They didn't think; they only knew how to keep eating, splitting, and reproducing. To them, their dead companions were just a lump of food.

Some slimes were clinging to Xu Milu's feet, trying to melt her clothes with their stomach acid—but unfortunately, the lotus root figures made from the White Jade Immortal Lotus Root were comparable to some high-level magical artifacts, and the low-level slimes could not cause her any harm.

Xu Milu crouched down, and the system encyclopedia immediately popped up:

[Low-level Slime (Small): A worthless monster, a sticky, soft-bodied creature that typically lives in damp labyrinths or forests in the Dragon and Magic plane. Slimes are filled with corrosive toxins and can be cleaned with salt. Given sufficient food, ordinary slimes can reproduce by fission, easily becoming a plague. Some special individuals possess a degree of intelligence.]

[Slime Slime: A type of junk with some value. Slimes produce a sticky slime every so often, which can be used to make a high-class dessert beloved by the Duru Lu aliens.]

"Xiao Qi, is this really edible?"

Looking at the endless "army" of slimes jumping all over the ground, Xu Milu had doubts about the ingredients themselves for the first time.

It's not that she discriminates against slimes. In this world, slimes are just like slugs on the street, low-level monsters that everyone hates. Just like on Earth, no one would think of making a cold dish out of slugs!

A light blue system panel appeared, and Xiaoqi calmly suggested:

[Items that are worthless in this world might be priceless treasures on other planets. According to my recent research, the Durulu aliens must consume a certain amount of slime every month, otherwise they will lose their reproductive ability. Therefore, slime is very popular on Durulu planet.]

[This plane is ideal for cultivating slimes. My suggestion is to establish a slime ranch and stockpile large quantities of slime spheres to prepare the host for future interstellar civilizations.]

Xu Milu nodded earnestly, though it was unclear whether she had taken Xiao Qi's words to heart. After a while, she suddenly looked up, still clutching a blue slime in her hand, her eyes shining brightly, and said:

"How about we make one to try first?"

"Duang! Duang!"

The slime in her hand began to struggle violently. Its round body suddenly turned into a puddle of sticky, suspicious liquid, with its writhing blue tentacles waving around. The softened liquid made the slime look exactly like some kind of vomit.

No, thank you.

Xiaoqi politely declined, and for the hundredth time sincerely rejoiced that she had no physical form.

...

...

Xu Milu spent even longer refining "Ren Qingluan" than "Ren Honghe," so she didn't feel any sluggishness when she was distracted controlling this lotus root figure.

Just like now.

"Tap tap tap tap—"

Xu Milu's main body, which was asleep atop her head, continued to move its hands:

Peel and smash a head of fresh garlic and mince it; cook chicken breast and shred it into strips; cut freshly picked tender cucumbers into sections; dice fresh flame mandolin peppers; shred crisp carrots; and chop bright green cilantro. Prepare all the ingredients and set them aside.

"Next comes the preparation of the key ingredients."

Xu Milu took the cleaned slime out of the bamboo basket and placed it on the cutting board. Holding the slippery slime in one hand, she used the tip of a knife to stab it diagonally with the other. With a "plop," the knife tip pierced into the slime's body without any resistance. More accurately, the iron knife was encased in the slime.

"Gurgle gurgle gurgle..."

The slime began to secrete gastric acid to corrode the knife. In no time, the fairly sturdy iron kitchen knife was corroded and rusted, and then gradually melted into the slime's body.
