If someone were to accidentally wander into the Mountain and Sea Restaurant, they would witness a rather magical scene:
Outside the window, the scenery of Chang'an City is breathtaking, with willows swaying like smoke. On the streets, young men and women walk hand in hand, snake charmers toss light ropes and fly into the clouds, children watch the tricks intently, shopkeepers selling cloudy wine greet customers with smiles, and nobles ride in carriages, making a grand entrance through the city...
Outside the half-open restaurant, dusk was fleeting, and the setting sun drowsily immersed itself in the pale yellow and crimson clouds. As night fell, under the inky black sky, a brightly lit modern city stretched out, with solar-powered aircraft like stars shuttling between skyscrapers and holographic floating signs projecting into the air, as if one had traveled to the future in an instant.
It's really like a pieced-together painting, with one side being a calm and leisurely ink painting of the city, resembling a landscape painting, and the other side being a realistic oil painting full of modern atmosphere and strong postmodernism.
The stark contrast attracted Chenxiang. He walked straight past the person and peered curiously through the door, but when he reached out to touch it, the scene on the other side disappeared like a mirage, and it returned to the street scene of Chang'an.
"What kind of supernatural power or technique is this?"
Yin Wenjiao never liked meeting outsiders. When she saw an old man dressed strangely entering the shop, she gave him a slight bow and led Dai Zi to the back.
Chenxiang simply sat cross-legged at the doorway, staring blankly at the modern city, a move that made the visitor burst into laughter.
"Young comrade, that's a city in our country. You're welcome to visit anytime."
"Minister Chen, please stop teasing my junior brother. He's still young, and he'll take what you say seriously."
When Xu Milu saw the person's face clearly, her expression became slightly awkward.
He is Chen Yuanyu from the Earth China Special Biological Protection Research Institute, and he was also the official representative who was previously responsible for liaising with "Ren Honghe".
Just thinking about all the ridiculous things she did to play the role of "Ren Honghe" and avoid being exposed made Xu Milu want to scratch her toes and die on the spot.
Why didn't she think about the embarrassing situation that would ensue if her identity was exposed?!
They're still trying to portray themselves as a "cold, sarcastic, genius scientist"? Help!
Being exposed is not scary, nor is impersonating "Ren Honghe". What is scary is that she still has to deal with officials after her identity is exposed.
Now many people probably know that beneath the beautiful and mature exterior of "Ren Honghe" lies a quirky and immature girl.
Fortunately, Chen Yuanyu didn't ask any questions. He even seemed to have forgotten about the existence of "Ren Honghe," and simply chatted with Xu Milu with a relaxed expression:
"If you want to believe it, then believe it. I'm not lying. We Chinese are very friendly. Welcome your junior brother to visit us. Comrade Xu, it's been a long time. This task of purchasing seeds was originally to be given to Secretary Huang Meng, but I have some good news to tell you personally. That's why I'm here."
Hooray! The official authorities are so considerate!
Both sides tacitly avoided mentioning the pseudonym, could this be considered a mutual agreement between her and the official supporter?!
Xu Milu clenched her fists excitedly.
Her current goals are not limited to Earth, so she has no other time to play the role of "Ren Honghe" and also has to worry about when her identity will be exposed to the authorities.
—It would be better to continue trading with the authorities semi-publicly using our real identities, and use the time saved to explore other dimensions.
To put it in a rather clichéd way, her goal is the stars and the sea, and now her strength no longer allows her to remain low-key.
"We've recently added a lot of magic seeds from other dimensions. The official team can purchase them at their discretion, and they'll be permanently 20% off!"
Xu Milu naturally picked up the conversation:
"What good news requires your personal visit?"
"Wow, there's quite a bit of good news."
Chen Yuanyu said with a smile:
"Firstly, the 'Yingui No. 7' cancer-specific drug has been included in our national medical insurance, with a reimbursement rate of 70%, so people no longer have to worry about the difficulty and expense of seeing a doctor; secondly, the charitable foundation established by your Honghe Technology is operating well and has helped many people in need, which can be said to be very successful!"
As he spoke, Chen Yuanyu observed Xu Milu's expression and continued:
"Thirdly, there's some good news for you personally, Comrade Xiao Xu. The final competition for the 'Chef God Showdown and Young Chef Culinary Skills Competition' that you previously registered for has been confirmed to be held in Beijing, China. I'm here to deliver your participation certificate."
A cooking competition?
Xu Milu was initially a little confused, but after rummaging through the corners of her memory to recall the name of the competition, she suddenly realized:
Isn't this that unfortunate show that was indefinitely postponed by the organizers because the venue for the finals was never decided?
—At the time, the organizer, Bald Eagle, argued strongly to hold the finals in New York City, while China, for the safety of its contestants, refused to budge and insisted on continuing with the original finals location.
Having not received any competition notifications for so long, she privately thought the competition was doomed, so how did it end up being brought up again?
Perhaps Xu Milu's confused expression was too obvious, Chen Yuanyu coughed lightly and explained:
"Well... the reason why the officials didn't back down before was to protect the contestants. But recently, the people from the United States have been in contact with the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and have offered very favorable conditions. In the end, it was decided that the finals would be held in Beijing as originally planned."
Xu Milu nodded knowingly.
Great power rivalry is all about exchanging political interests!
