"Cold radish peel salad, lemon spicy radish greens salad, vegetarian abalone with mushrooms, stuffed pork ribs with mushroom sauce, steamed buns with brown sugar, radish stew with mutton, honey roasted pork ribs, mushroom and radish hot pot, peach blossom honey water, and ping-pong grape fruit platter."
Xu Milu served the dishes with a smile: "I've prepared the premium set meal according to your taste."
A large table of dishes was laid out, and from the time Cui Shengguo entered until now, it hadn't even taken half an hour. Apart from the mutton soup that was still simmering, the table was filled with a dazzling array of red, yellow, and green dishes, and the aroma made people's mouths water.
"Oh, there's something new here, what are the three delicacies in the mushroom and radish three-delicacy hot pot?"
Cui Shengguo asked Xu Milu with a smile.
Xu Milu placed the small casserole on the charcoal stove, and took from Xiao Tao a plate of tofu cut into small cubes, a plate of fish slices shaved into thin slices, and a plate of extremely thin abalone slices:
"Mushrooms, radishes, and tofu, when stewed together, make a delicious and flavorful soup. Fish slices and abalone slices are briefly dipped in the broth, and this warm and comforting pot of soup is perfect for the cold winter."
Choi Seung-guk stared in disbelief at the fish slices arranged in the shape of peonies on the plate.
"Did you film this?"
This is clearly the Cui family's sword technique!
Old Liu finally found an opportunity to show off his granddaughter. He put his hands behind his back, leaned against the counter, and said nonchalantly:
"Hey, Dami has always been quick to learn. Didn't I see you demonstrate it the other day? She learned it right away! Enough talk, hurry up and try it, try the vegetables. Today, the radish is the main attraction!"
"You're just being hypocritical after getting a good deal! If I had known that Da Mi was so intelligent, I would have taken him in no time."
Cui Shengguo was itching to get closer to Xu Milu, and the more he looked at her, the more pleasing she seemed to him. He wished he could become her disciple on the spot.
It's been so many years since I've seen such a talented prospect!
"Alright, I'm just a common person, I'll start eating now."
Grandpa Jiang chuckled, picked up a piece of radish peel with his chopsticks, and put it in his mouth. He found the radish peel to be wrinkled, and when he bit into it, it made a "crunch" sound. With another bite, a juice that was hard to describe as either sweet or salty landed on his tongue, making his mouth water.
"It's delicious! What's the sauce made with this radish peel? It tastes so good!"
Grandpa Jiang looked surprised and then aimed his chopsticks at the mushroom vegetarian abalone. The cuts on the mushrooms allowed them to soak up the sauce well. Xu Milu had intentionally cut them a little thicker, and when he took a bite, the fresh and tender juices and the deliciousness of the mushrooms burst forth.
"Your mushroom-stuffed ribs are really good. Apart from being a little overcooked and the sauce being reduced a bit too much, the seasoning is perfect."
Cui Shengguo wasn't idle either. He was chewing on a piece of stuffed pork rib and commenting, but his shining eyes showed how much he liked the meal.
"There are also steamed buns with brown sugar. You should try those. I just had one made with rice. Oh my, the taste was amazing. They were soft, fluffy, and sweet. It was like being in heaven."
Old Liu was delighted and enthusiastically pointed out which dish was better: "And those radish greens, the rice mixed with lemon juice, it's not greasy at all, and you have to drink the soup in the mushroom and radish three-delicacy hot pot."
Grandpa Jiang was about to invite Old Man Liu to sit down and have some food when he heard Cui Shengguo say with a hint of sourness:
“He has a wonderful granddaughter who has taken up his mantle, how could he possibly go hungry? Didn’t you see? They’re much more comfortable than us.”
As soon as she finished speaking, Xu Milu, with a smile, carried a small charcoal pot from the kitchen and placed it on the table next to the front desk.
In the pot, radish chunks, tofu chunks, and mushroom slices were neatly arranged. Old Liu didn't like abalone, so Xu Milu took a knife and sliced fish. Lamb slices and vegetables were placed on the side, along with some honey water. Old Liu's mouth was practically stretched to his ears with a grin.
That old man!
He stole the apprentice he had his eye on, ate the fish sliced by the apprentice using the Cui family's knife skills, and then showed off to him!
This is intolerable!
Cui Shengguo was seething with anger. He picked up his chopsticks, grabbed a piece of radish, and stuffed it into his mouth, almost burning off his beard in the process.
"hiss--"
The radish, simmered in the mushroom soup for at least half an hour, became soft and mild. Surprisingly, the radish chunks had no fibrous strands, as if they could be completely melted away with just a little pressure from the tongue.
Grandpa Jiang is a connoisseur of food. While his old friend was staring blankly at the radish, he drank several bowls of mushroom soup.
The hot mushroom soup is incredibly delicious, without any of the monotonous flavors created by MSG or chicken bouillon. Every bite is perfectly fresh and flavorful.
Outside, the cold wind howls, but inside it's warm and cozy. You can dip a slice of abalone into the soup, savor it, and enjoy it!
Old Liu was right, this life is truly like that of a god!
The three-ingredient hot pot with mushrooms and radish was so irresistible that even the radish stewed with mutton and the honey-roasted pork ribs were neglected. The two old men rummaged through the pot for a while, and in the end, they wouldn't even give each other a piece of tofu.
"Hey, I'm telling you, you guys who play with words are really ruthless. How many bowls of wine have you drunk? You didn't even leave me a single bite of tofu?"
Cui Shengguo started shouting without regard for his image.
Grandpa Jiang calmly adjusted his reading glasses:
"How can this be considered a personal attack? Isn't it just a matter of whoever is quickest to claim it?"
The two exchanged glances and saw that Old Liu, far from the commotion, was happily chewing on slices of mutton. In perfect unison, they grabbed their chopsticks and squeezed towards Old Liu's table, their chopsticks precise and ruthless, specifically targeting Old Liu's radishes.
Well, now it's three old men fighting over radishes in the store.
...
...
New customers are often startled by the three old men's "Protect the Radish" display as soon as they enter, and then they are shocked by the prices on the menu as soon as they sit down and are about to order.
