Having obtained the information she wanted, Xu Milu, as agreed, allowed the three members of the adventure team to stay overnight at the shop, but to her surprise, William refused the offer:
“Miss Qingluan, thank you very much for your protection, but I have to decline your kind invitation. Being vigilant is the reason why we have survived one adventure after another. If we stay in such a luxurious and exquisite shop, I'm afraid our vigilance will be completely eroded. I only hope that you can make room for us in the stable or the woodshed.”
Xu Milu understood that the other party probably still had some reservations, so she didn't insist. Instead, she took three buds of musical tulips from her system inventory and hung them at their campsite.
"Please make yourselves at home. Dinner is Arctic fast-growing tomato sauce spaghetti, rosemary pan-fried rabbit chops, and corn chowder. I'll have Dai Zi put the food at the door. After you've finished eating, put the utensils on the stone at the door and I'll come back to collect them."
After Xu Milu finished speaking, she went into the shop without offering any further explanation. She only provided dinner because of the information she had just received, and if the other party didn't eat, it was none of her business.
Ella wanted to say something more, but William stopped her. He subtly shook his head at his sister and whispered:
"We don't know what Lord Qingluan's purpose is yet, but let's be cautious. Someone who can control so many powerful familiars might be a high-ranking demon disguised as a human. It would be terrible if there was a curse in the food."
"No, she is not a demon."
Osik, leaning against the rock, suddenly spoke up:
"Although her origins are uncertain, she shouldn't be a demon—I was just about to tell you that Lady Qingluan is wearing mermaid-woven silk, and the dagger at her waist appears to be made with dwarven craftsmanship, most likely crafted from Alt silver. Most importantly..."
Osik crossed his arms, frowned, and seemed to be processing the information in his mind before continuing after a moment:
"Most importantly, the brooch she wore on her chest was from the Elven race. Although I'm not sure what it was, it was imbued with the protective magic of a great Elf, which means she was a friend of the Elven race. And that mermaid veil was also filled with the blessing aura of the Merfolk."
Osik didn't finish his sentence, but William and Ella both understood what he meant:
Elves and demons are mortal enemies. To receive the protection of a great elf and the blessings of mermaids and dwarves, this Azure Phoenix Ren who suddenly appeared deep in the forest is definitely not a demon.
"Why???!"
William couldn't help but open his mouth wide, his expression somewhat blank:
"You mean the Silver of Alt? You just mentioned the Silver of Alt! Isn't that the legendary sacred object of the dwarves?! How could it be here?! And elves are always arrogant, how could they cast protective magic on ordinary people?! Let alone a high elf of the Great Elf level!"
"I knew Lady Qingluan was a good person! She even gave me such a precious dress, she can't possibly be a demon, you bad brother!"
Ella touched her dress with delight and inhaled its fragrance with a touch of ecstasy.
"It even smells wonderfully of roses! Even the capital doesn't have such precious oriental silk, and besides, didn't Lord Qingluan save us from the jaws of that king-level magical beast?!"
William covered his face and gritted his teeth, saying:
"How would I know any of this! Oh no, this is terrible! I took Lord Qingluan's good intentions as ulterior motives. Oh no, I was so confident and thought I was being cautious. This is so rude."
Osik patted his shoulder with a look of sympathy in his eyes and said slowly:
"No, your reaction is the normal reaction. After all, I never expected to see the symbol of friendship from dwarves, elves, and mermaids in one person. This is even more shocking than seeing a girl who can control a king-level magical beast."
Mermaid gauze is an extremely expensive magical material; a single piece could buy an entire remote village. Mermaids never trade with humans, yet she could use such a large piece of gauze to make clothing. Not to mention the long-lost Alt-mithril forging technique; that kind of construction was probably only possessed by the dwarven royal family.
"Not just King-level magical beasts."
William gave a wry smile and drew his longsword from his waist:
"And then there's the tree-shaped fairy and that black-haired swordsman (Mo Xuan: ???). Although I can't judge their strength based on my rank, I'm certain that even Lord Malov, the Grand Knight of the Palace, might not be able to put up a fight against that black-haired swordsman. The longsword in my hand is forged from the Earth Dragon's magic core, and a remnant soul of an Earth Dragon is sleeping inside it. The moment I saw that black-haired sword, my sword actually started to tremble. Unless that man is a giant dragon that can transform into human form, I can't find a third explanation."
"!!"
Ella's pupils contracted slightly as she looked incredulously at the brightly lit Shan Hai Restaurant and exclaimed:
"Court Knight Commander? That's already a Sword Saint level figure. How could someone of that rank appear here, willingly serving a magician who's never been famous in the capital? Could it be... could it be that Lord Qingluan's rank is above Sword Saint?"
(Mo Xuan: No, it's just for the two coins of wages each month.)
The three of them fell silent.
We've suffered far too many setbacks today.
A red-haired girl capable of taming a king-level magical beast, a gigantic turtle-shaped magical beast with the power to destroy a city, hordes of slimes, a luxurious tavern nestled in the dark forest, tree fairies obeying the red-haired girl, a swordsman willing to serve her, the mermaid veil worn by the girl, protective magic representing the friendship of the elves, and the silver dagger of Alt forged by the dwarves…
