Chapter 9 Gourmet Hunter

Following Zhihe and the others, they walked through the narrow valley for about an hour before emerging from the mountains. Then, following a small path, Xu Milu saw a place that resembled a village.

"Sir, this is the village where we live!"

Although Zhihe is young, he is very sensible and insists on not changing his form of address. Xu Milu has no choice but to reluctantly accept this somewhat childish form of address.

Most of the villagers have red hair and yellow eyes, and wear thin linen clothes. The young and middle-aged men carry farm tools and work in the fields.

Upon seeing a stranger enter the village, many people put down what they were doing and stared at Xu Milu. Some mothers, seeing a stranger enter the village, hurriedly pushed their children into the thatched huts.

The man, seeing the silver-winged flying fish Xu Milu was carrying, guessed she might be a gourmet hunter and immediately showed a respectful expression.

"He's a gourmet hunter!"

"A very important person has come to our village!"

"Look, it's Zhihe and Zhili!"

"It's a Gourmet Hunter! It seems there's hope for Zhi Mei's illness!"

Xu Milu felt a little uncomfortable being stared at by so many people, but after thinking about it, she realized that she had only come to see Zhimei's illness on the way, and it had nothing to do with anyone else.

Thinking this through, she immediately calmed down and began to look around the village.

On both sides of the path are houses built of grass, and between the houses are trellises with dark green vines climbing on them, with clusters of large fruits hidden under the goose-foot-like leaves.

They are really big, like ping-pong balls, deep purple round fruits, in clusters, looking sweet and delicious.

Many people have planted even taller ears of wheat in front of their houses. The fruit has just been harvested, and the remaining fruit stalks can be clearly seen.

Behind the house grew green plants that reached up to the calves, and they were covered with illogical, egg-sized, cherry-like fruits.

Further into the distance, there are vast expanses of paddy fields planted with cotton-like fruits, and many women are harvesting them in the fields…

Although it was another world, Xu Milu could still feel the peaceful and serene atmosphere.

Children ran around the village, their laughter echoing through the air; adults greeted each other warmly, their words filled with joy...

This is a small village called Fried Village. The village chief is Zhihe and Zhili's grandfather. The village's main source of income is the sale of its unique produce, a one-star delicacy: dandelion fried chicken strips.

My younger sister, Zhimei, was naughty and went to play by the lake outside the mountains. She was bitten by some animal and poisoned, so she could only lie in bed unconscious.

The village elders all said it was from a snake-bodied fish bite, and only the five-pointed black needle grass could cure it.

However, the village is not wealthy and cannot afford to hire a five-star gourmet hunter. Three-star gourmet hunters dare not accept five-star requests. The village chief has been heartbroken these past few days because of his granddaughter's illness.

A few days ago, Zhili and Zhihe saw Xu Milu catching fish by the lake. The black needle grass they found relieved Zhimei's pain, but more black needle grass was needed to cure her completely.

That's why the two children thought of going to the lake to try their luck and see if they could find Xu Milu and ask her for a favor.

...

...

The village chief's house is located in the center of the village; it is a tall thatched house.

The village chief looks like Master Roshi from Dragon Ball, with long, white beards and eyebrows that cover almost half of his face.

Hearing the two brothers' words, the poor old man mistakenly thought that Xu Milu was investigating the matter of the black needle grass, and immediately became so frightened that he prostrated himself on the ground in fear and trepidation.

"Sir! Please forgive us! We didn't steal your things on purpose! These two children didn't do it on purpose!!"
