Using a crane to dig up radishes is a novelty, and even many villagers gathered by the field to watch the spectacle.
The cranes were borrowed by Xu Milu from the Forestry Bureau through Liu Mingji. As soon as these massive machines drove onto the field ridges, their roaring sound immediately attracted the attention of everyone present.
"Beep—beep—"
There were quite a few people from the Forestry Bureau, and police officers were also on site maintaining order.
Seeing that the scene was getting a bit chaotic, the person in charge at the scene simply handed the walkie-talkie to Xu Milu:
"You can just talk directly into this walkie-talkie that's connected to the crane."
"Driver, drive straight here, drive over here."
Xu Milu gestured, indicating that one of the cranes should drive directly into the radish field.
Bai Lele and Zou Kai approached one after the other, showering the girl, who was a few years younger than them, with excessive attentiveness.
Zou Kai rubbed his hands together, his face flushed with excitement:
"Miss Xu, could we come along to harvest? I promise it won't cause any delays."
This could very well be the first time in China that a special group of giant radishes has been harvested!
This might just be recorded in agricultural history!
Not to mention its research value and special scientific significance!
Xu Milu glanced at Liu Mingji, who was secretly watching her reaction. She was itching to speak, but didn't know how to bring it up.
Thinking that relying solely on the villagers for harvesting might not be enough, she readily agreed:
"Okay, there's strength in numbers. We'll need the help of the forestry bureau staff to maintain order at the scene later."
Upon hearing this, Liu Mingji's steps became much more brisk. He took a step forward and pushed the two students aside, all while trying to appear nonchalant.
"Absolutely, of course. Maintaining order is definitely necessary. They'll all be under your command in a bit."
But his slightly trembling hands betrayed his feelings at that moment.
Xu Milu made a hand gesture, indicating the direction, and called the workers over to tie the ropes.
"Wow!! Such a big radish head?!"
The foreman was genuinely shocked: "This is a radish? How come it's so big?!"
The fully mature, gigantic, delicious radish has lush green leaves. Just looking at the part exposed above the ground, you wouldn't recognize it as a radish. The thick leaf stalks are at least two fingers wide, and the pinnately lobed leaves are a deep green. You could easily mistake it for some kind of exotic flower.
Xu Milu nodded and gave instructions:
"First, dig out a layer of topsoil, then put a rope over the radish. Let's start digging."
...
...
The ridges between the fields were packed with onlookers, who never put down their phones.
Zou Kai handed over a shovel: "Miss Xu, you can start with the first shovel."
Xu Milu didn't hold back, and with a solid shovelful, she brought up a full shovelful of soil, revealing just the tip of the iceberg of the giant radish beneath the surface.
The radish roots beneath the surface soil are enormous, and even just the exposed corner is enough to be awe-inspiring.
Now, without waiting for Xu Milu to give orders, the workers spontaneously started digging the soil, and some even used their hands when they didn't have enough shovels!
Gradually, the radish roots, deeply embedded in the ground, began to reveal their true form. The thick roots were a mix of green and white, and against the backdrop of the dark brown soil, they appeared even larger, like relics from a land of giants.
After securing the ropes, Xu Milu waved for the crane to slowly lift the giant radish, which was over a meter tall, out of the soil right before everyone's eyes. As the soil fell from its roots, countless gasps and exclamations filled the air.
"Oh my god!!"
"My goodness, this radish is so big! Is this even a radish?!"
"It's out! It's out!!"
"Come quick and see! The radish has come to life, right here in Xingning Village!!"
"Mom, where are you? Don't get your hair permed yet, hurry to Xingning Village! There's a radish spirit here!!!"
"Guys! This isn't special effects, it's a live broadcast! There really are giant radishes, as big as people!! Right here in Ningcheng!!!"
"Hey? What are you doing? Why are you in the bathroom? Get over here right now, there's big news!!!"
The clicking of cameras never stopped, and the onlookers on the ridge of the field went crazy. Countless messages flew out, and the photos of the "super giant radish" spread online like a video virus.
...
Bai Lele watched as the radish was hung up and screamed excitedly:
"It's out! It's out!!"
"It's even bigger than it was a few days ago!!!"
Xu Milu immediately grabbed the radish and pinched it hard, leaving a fingernail mark on the green skin.
She held it to her nose and smelled it; it was spicy and astringent, just like the giant, delicious radish from the Gourmet World.
"Let's get started. We need to clear these ten acres of land today. Thank you all for your hard work."
Xu Milu waved her hand, and the workers scattered, digging frantically as if they were tireless, as if to verify whether there were radishes of the same size hidden under the other leaves.
As one giant radish after another appeared, the cheers from the onlookers nearly pierced the sky, and the situation almost spiraled out of control.
Each sound was like an echo.
The ridges between the fields were packed with people, each with a face full of fervent curiosity.
That's amazing!
Who didn't fantasize about the existence of a land of giants when they were a child?
When the radish from the fairy tale world actually appears before your eyes, no one can remain calm.
If there hadn't been people maintaining order at the scene, someone would have rushed into the field to check if the radish actually existed.
"Wow!!!"
Suddenly, another cheer erupted from the crowd. Xu Milu looked closely and saw that a crane had lifted up a huge radish with an unusually large body, which at first glance looked like a small pavilion.
