Chapter 18 Wolf Head Mercenary Group

The first person to climb up was a middle-aged man with a small mustache, prominent cheekbones, and fierce eyes. His medieval pirate-style mercenary uniform clung tightly to his body, giving him a rather imposing presence.

He said thank you, but his hand behind his back had already reached for the dagger at his waist.

Xu Milu rolled her eyes.

She should have kicked them all down the hill while they were climbing.

There are over a hundred more Tibetan Mastiffs waiting to get along with them!

"No need to thank me. This is not my camp. I will leave first thing tomorrow morning. Please make yourselves at home."

Xu Milu didn't want to get involved with this group of people who looked troublesome, so she just frowned and looked down. She noticed that the mastiff didn't seem to be staring at her, and she couldn't help but frown again.

"That's great, brother. The bear mastiffs are afraid of fire, so they didn't dare to come up. We're safe now."

The woman wearing leather armor and carrying a large backpack was the last to climb up. She followed Puka's gaze and saw Xu Milu, seemingly oblivious to the undercurrent between Puka and Xu Milu, and walked straight towards him.

Puka noticed the tent behind Xu Milu, and his eyes flickered slightly.

"Miss, are you traveling alone?"

"There's nowhere to hide," Xu Milu replied expressionlessly.

"Milu, my name is Milu. I was just passing by. How did you manage to provoke so many Mastiffs?"

Puka's previously wary expression relaxed, and he removed his hand from the knife, speaking evasively:

"We are the first adventure team of the Wolf Head Mercenary Group in Buji Town. I am the captain, Puka, and this is my sister, Vera. We accidentally angered the Bear Mastiff pack while on a mission. But Miss Milu, please rest assured, the Bear Mastiffs will leave at dawn tomorrow."

“Brother, why bother explaining to such a lowly person? This is not her territory to begin with. The Anta Plains are full of dangerous beasts. How is it any different for an ordinary person like her to come here and seek death?”

Vera was probably in her early twenties, with a high red ponytail. Her features were somewhat Western, and she still had a bit of baby fat on her face. However, her pretty face was marred by a spoiled and pampered air.

"Hey! I've requisitioned your camp, so get out of here right now!"

Xu Milu subtly distanced herself from Vera.

Goodness, I thought she was a Disney princess who had run away, but it turns out she has runaway princess syndrome.

"Miss Milu can leave after our reinforcements arrive tomorrow morning."

Puka turned around decisively to check on the injuries of the others.

The mercenaries seemed quite adept at camping in the wild, and soon they had built a temporary campsite using the surrounding vines and stones. To prevent bears and mastiffs from sneaking up in the middle of the night, they lit several more campfires.

There were at least a hundred Tibetan Mastiffs below the slope, some lying down, some crouching, but all of them had their dark green eyes fixed on the scene, clearly not planning to let things go peacefully.

Xu Milu was never a saint. No matter why this group of people provoked this pack of fierce dogs, she was not interested and had no desire to get involved.

At worst, she can use the dimensional jumper to escape when no one is around at night.

Xu Milu ignored the curious or probing glances from the other mercenaries, went straight into the tent, zipped it up, and went to sleep.

She wasn't worried about keeping watch at night; if a Tibetan Mastiff really did sneak up in the middle of the night, she definitely wouldn't be the slowest one to run away.

...

...

"Damn it! Who does she think she is?! How dare she ignore me! She really is a lowly, despicable person!!"

Vera saw Xu Milu enter the strangely styled tent without a care in the world, and kicked the wooden stake that Xu Milu had used as a stool into the fire, raising a cloud of ashes.

"Young Miss, could that girl be a gourmet hunter? After all, someone who dares to set off alone in the Snow Valley must be no ordinary person."

A quick-thinking mercenary peered cautiously into the darkened tent and tentatively spoke.

"Hmph, how could that be? She's just a lucky little girl. How could a Gourmet Hunter travel alone? I just asked her, and she has no companions at all. She recklessly came here to die! If she hadn't been lucky enough to run into us, she might have been eaten by something."

Vera glared at the tent and gritted her teeth.

"Yes, yes, you're right. As far as I know, none of the ten gourmet hunters on the island have black hair and black eyes. Perhaps it was just some ignorant fool who ran away. Your status is noble, so there's no need to bother with her."

The team member named Jimmy outwardly flattered her, but inwardly cursed her as an idiot.

Could someone who managed to avoid flocks of Spikeboro and Articuno by sheer luck and successfully venture alone into the heart of the Snow Valley be an ordinary person?

If it weren't for the fact that this idiot is the captain's sister and the future baroness, how could their mercenary team have possibly brought her along?

Garp must have realized this too. It seems he needs to warn his team members to be more respectful, since no one can guarantee that the other person isn't some foreign gourmet hunter.

"Once I marry the Baron, I will be a noble Baroness, and even gourmet hunters will have to serve me. What can those fools in the Aoki Mercenary Group do to fight against my father?"

Seemingly enjoying Jimmy's compliment, Vera gave a coquettish "humph," a hint of pleasure on her face.

"Alright, hurry up and make my bed. I don't want these filthy, stupid beasts to keep me from getting any rest. Go now!"

Jimmy resignedly tidied up her sleeping area for the night, unaware that the large bag on Vera's back was wriggling, and a very faint sound came from inside:

"Woof..."

Vera panicked for a moment, then breathed a sigh of relief when she realized no one was paying attention, and excitedly patted her backpack.
