Chapter 7 Make the most of your training

Ning Ye held Ning Silang's hand and said, "Don't worry, Fourth Uncle. I hunted some game in the mountains yesterday and sold it until late at night, which is why I came back today."

Upon hearing this, Ning Silang became even more worried. He circled Ning Ye several times to make sure there were no injuries before he felt relieved.

Ning Silang said with some complaint, "How can you be so bold, child? I've never seen you with this ability before. What if something happens? How am I supposed to explain this to the ancestors of the Ning family?"

"Don't worry, Fourth Uncle. If I didn't have confidence, I wouldn't have done anything dangerous. Let's not stand at the village entrance anymore, let's go home first."

Ning Silang seemed to want to say a few more words, but in the end he didn't. He understood that his child was already grown up and there were some things he didn't need to say.

As soon as he entered the house, Ning Ye opened the burlap sack he was carrying, and the yellowish flour inside caught Ning Silang's attention.

"You didn't spend all your money on flour, did you? Do you know that? You could have bought at least two big bags of millet with that money?"

Ning Ye said, "Don't worry, Fourth Uncle, this is what I won in a bet. We can't finish this whole bag anyway, so you can take half of it back."

Ning Silang waved his hands repeatedly, "No, no, you've just fed three people, this bag of flour will only last for a little over half a month, I can't take your things."

Ning Ye found a bag, poured out half a bag of flour, and forcefully stuffed it into Ning Silang's hand. "Fourth Uncle, we're family, so there's no need for formalities. I know how you've taken care of me all these years. This is just half a bag of flour."

"Sigh, you've really grown up. Well then, I'll accept this half bag of flour."

Ning Ye smiled and said, "That's right. Fourth Uncle, is there something else you wanted to see me about?"

Ning Silang nodded and said, "Well, there's a mining job in Dongxiang that needs some people. I wonder if you want to come with me."

Ning Ye was slightly taken aback upon hearing this. Dongxiang was more than 200 miles away from here, and it had a medium-sized iron mine. Moreover, he had never heard of them going to such a far place to recruit people.

In the past, it wouldn't have mattered how far one had to go to make a living, but now Ning Ye always felt that the opportunity was probably right at his doorstep, and going to other places was a bit of a roundabout way.

Ning Ye held Ning Silang's hand and said, "Fourth Uncle, if you believe me, wait a few more days, and perhaps immense wealth will come your way."

Ning Silang looked at Ning Ye with a skeptical expression. "What new notice has been posted in the county town?"

"Fourth Uncle, don't worry about this. You'll understand in three days at most."

Ning Ye spoke so earnestly that Ning Silang had no choice but to believe him. He didn't want to go to such a far place either, since there were still people at home to take care of.

Ning Ye rushed back early in the morning and hadn't eaten yet, so he decided to invite Ning Silang to have a simple meal with him.

But when it came time to actually cook, they discovered that, apart from themselves, no one else knew how to cook.

Lin Qinshu stood at the kitchen doorway, feeling somewhat ashamed. "Husband, give me some time, and I'm sure I can learn to cook."

Ning Ye said with a smile, "It's my fault. I forgot that this young lady who never lifts a finger to cook is not capable of doing so. I'll take care of it."

"Husband, are you being sarcastic? How can a real man go into the kitchen?"

Ning Ye gently stroked Lin Qinshu's delicate nose. "I'm not being sarcastic. It would be a real sin if these fair and tender little hands didn't look pretty."

Lin Qinshu said with a hint of coquettishness, "My husband, I am no longer a child!"

Ning Ye gently put his arm around Lin Qinshu's shoulder, "With me, you only need to do what you want to do. I won't force you to do anything else. As long as you're happy, that's all that matters."

After saying that, Ning Ye pushed Lin Qinshu out of the kitchen, seemingly indicating that he really didn't intend for Lin Qinshu to do this kind of thing.

Lin Qinshu is feeling dizzy right now, as if she's soaking in honey water. Sometimes, genuine feelings are the most deadly.

Making noodles is a piece of cake for Ning Ye; he can whip up a steaming bowl of noodles in no time.

When Ning Ye brought out the noodles, the once dilapidated house had been cleaned up very thoroughly.

It's obvious that Xiaoqing and Xiaoyuan did it, since they're quite adept at cleaning.

After finishing his meal, Ning Ye exercised alone in the yard. Many things can only be regained through small, gradual efforts.

Ning Ye had something to do, but Lin Qinshu and the others were rather idle. After all, the house was only so small and there was nothing in it, so even if they wanted to do some needlework, they were powerless to do so.

As for the one or two taels of silver he brought back, Ning Ye spent half of it after his morning exercise, buying all kinds of meat.

Ning Ye spent three days eating, drinking, and exercising. When the third day arrived, he prepared to head to Qingyuan County again.

The feeling of weakness in his body had completely dissipated. Although it would still take some time for him to become fully strong, Ning Ye was already satisfied.

Lin Qinshu originally planned to go to Ningye in Qingyuan County by herself, but she hoped to buy some cloth in the county town so that she would at least have something to do.

Ningye didn't know much about needlework, but fortunately the two of them headed to the county town early in the morning.

As they entered the city, one of the guards even greeted Ning Ye. Upon closer inspection, Ning Ye realized that it must have been one of Lin Changhe's personal guards who had accompanied him that day.

After exchanging a warm greeting, Ning Ye went straight into the county town. Sure enough, there were many more people in Qingyuan County than before.

Death is terrible, but being starved to death is even worse. In the face of hunger, almost no one can remain rational.

After the recruitment notice has been posted, it is already a great blessing that people who have nowhere else to turn have a choice.

When Ning Ye arrived at the county government office, the entrance was already completely blocked.

Xu Sanguan was in charge of the recruitment, but he was clearly also quite annoyed by this group of people.

They were less like local militia members and more like a bunch of starving ghosts trying to escape.

Ning Ye wasn't in a hurry. He turned around and took Lin Qinshu to browse the tailor shop. In any case, they couldn't talk for the time being.

Ning Ye and Lin Qinshu randomly picked a tailor shop that looked decent and went straight inside.

Hu Erbiao happened to see this, and ever since he met Lin Qinshu that day, he had been completely captivated.
