☆, Chapter 6: A beautiful girl in a golden house?

The sound of heavy rain hitting the umbrella was extremely dull. Most of Shu Wanning's body was still soaked in the rain. He wanted to get up, but he couldn't muster the strength.

Wen Yuci's eyes were still lowered, and although he remained silent, his eyes had softened a lot.

He withdrew his gaze from Shu Wanning. She had always been beautiful, cold and aloof, but now that she had been caught in the rain and fallen, she looked like a broken piece of jade, so fragile that it was disturbing.

All the umbrellas in their hands were tilted towards her, and her shoulders were gradually wet by the rain, but Wen Yuci herself didn't care.

He squatted down in front of Shu Wanning, handed the umbrella to her, and said softly, "Hold the umbrella."

Shu Wanning took the umbrella in a daze, and saw him reach out and pick her up steadily from the ground.

Seeing that he was caught in the rain, Shu Wanning raised the umbrella to shield him and walked to the car. Yan Hao opened the door immediately.

Shu Wanning was only wearing a thin nightgown. She was soaked by the rain and shivered unconsciously. The next second, she was wearing Wen Yuci's coat.

His clothes always had a clean and gentle cedar scent. When Shu Wanning smelled this scent again, her tense nerves finally relaxed.

A bony hand stretched out in front of her. She took the towel handed to her by Wen Yuci and wiped the rain off her face, looking out the window. Shu Min must have been going crazy with anxiety at this time.

She tilted her head, looked at Wen Yuci's slightly damp hair and whispered, "Mr. Wen, thank you for saving my life again."

Wen Yuci didn't answer, but just stroked the towel in his hand and said something incomprehensible: "It seems that asking you to go back is not a wise decision."

Shu Wanning followed Wen Yuci back to Qianyue Bay again. Yan Hao opened the car door, and Wen Yuci held her back again: "I have to go back to the company. You should rest here first."

Yan Hao closed the car door and got in to leave. Aunt Jing came out of the house at a trot: "Why are you so wet? Come inside and take a hot shower!"

Aunt Jing treated Shu Wanning sincerely, and Shu Wanning felt warm again. Shu Wanning held her arm and said, "From now on, you can just call me by my name."

She lay in the bathtub filled with hot water. Most of the coldness in her body dissipated. She leaned against the bathtub tiredly, and only when she was drowsy did she realize that her head was a little hot.

Wen Yuci returned to the company, changed into clean clothes, and sat in a chair to wipe his hair.

Earlier in the car, he looked in the direction Yan Hao pointed, and when he saw Shu Wanning, he felt pity for her.

She originally wanted Yan Hao to take her to the car, but she couldn't control herself and took the umbrella from Yan Hao's hand.

He made an internal call. Yan Hao opened the office door. Wen Yuci looked up at him and said, "Ask Yan He to find out what happened today."

Shu Wanning took a shower, drank a bowl of ginger soup cooked by Aunt Jing, and sat on the edge of the bed looking out the window.

The rain outside was heavier than before, and the temperature seemed to drop a few degrees as time passed.

Thunder and lightning gradually rose in the sky, the clouds were getting lower and lower, and the rain was hitting the glass with no sign of stopping.

Shu Wanning wrapped herself in the quilt and lay back on the bed. There was still the night light on the bedside that she had left on earlier. She turned on the night light, and her eyelids became uncontrollably heavy.

When Wen Yuci came back, the rain had lightened a lot. When he entered, Aunt Jing was busy in the living room.

The other servants were still cleaning. Aunt Jing saw him and immediately walked over to him: "Young Master is back. Miss Shu seems to be still asleep. I called her before but no one responded."

Wen Yuci nodded, turned around, and went upstairs. He walked to Shu Wanning's door and knocked lightly: "Shu Wanning, it's time to eat."

Still no one responded, so Wen Yuci knocked a few more times, then put his hand on the doorknob and pressed it down gently. The door opened and the room was silent.

He walked into the room and saw Shu Wanning still asleep. As he turned to leave, he felt something was wrong.

He walked to the bedside. Shu Wanning's face was extremely red. He reached out to touch her, but pulled his hand back because he was burned.

He quickly left the room, dialed a phone in the corridor, and said in a low voice: "Cen You, ask your girlfriend to come to Qianyue Bay."

"Are you sick? That's not right. If you were sick, you should come to me."

"Not me."

Cen You on the other side got up from the bed: "Okay, we'll be there right away."

He patted the sleeping person beside him and said with a smile: "Let's go. It seems that Wen Yuci has hidden a beautiful woman in a golden house."

Beside him, Qiu Yuerong, who was dazed, slowly got up, yawned, and said, "What are you talking about in your sleep?"

"I'm not dreaming, it's real. He asked you to go, and if I don't go, it must be because it's inconvenient for me as a girl to go."

"Then I have to go and see."

Wen Yuci returned to the room and pulled up Shu Wanning's quilt. He glanced at the night light beside him, reached out to turn it off, and then withdrew his hand.

Wen Yuci was sitting on the sofa when Cen You and Qiu Yuerong arrived. He looked around after entering and asked curiously, "Where are the people?"

Wen Yuci stood up and replied, "Second floor."

Opening the door, Wen Yuci said, "She got caught in the rain and has a fever."

Qiu Yuerong stretched her neck to look inside the room, then looked at Wen Yuci helplessly: "Please make way, I have to go in."

Cen You followed her into the room and looked at the person on the bed. He tilted his head to signal Wen Yuci to leave.

In the corridor, Cen You handed a cigarette to Wen Yuci, glanced at the room and said with a smile: "A beautiful woman is hiding in a golden house, and she's having a lot of fun, isn't she?"

"You misunderstood."

Wen Yuci held the cigarette between his fingers and briefly recounted the incident. Cen You looked at him with a deeper gaze.

"Yu Ci, I know your personality. You're not the kind of person who would just pick someone up on the street and take them home."

Wen Yuci shook his head: "I just think what Yan Hao said makes some sense."

Cen You stood closer to him and said, "Your status is special. Even if your future wife isn't from a noble family, at least her family background must be similar. She..."

Wen Yuci looked at him sideways, raised an eyebrow, and asked, "What if Qiu Yuerong's family is not well off?"

Cen You straightened his back and said seriously, "Of course I'll be extra nice to my Yueyue!"

He felt a little embarrassed when he said this, but pretended to be calm, took a puff of cigarette, and said slowly: "So what are you going to do?"

Before Wen Yuci could answer, the door of the room opened and Qiu Yuerong whispered, "Her fever is a bit serious. I gave her an injection. If the fever doesn't go away tomorrow, I'll come back."

Wen Yuci nodded: "Thank you."

Cen You stepped forward, took Qiu Yuerong's hand, looked up and said, "Let's go, let's go back to our world of two."

He took her out of the living room, and Wen Yuci returned to the room and looked at the back of Shu Wanning's hand that was pierced by the needle.

She was not sleeping well, her delicate eyebrows were furrowed, and beads of sweat were oozing from her forehead. He bent down to help her tidy up the quilt, and suddenly her hand tightly grasped his wrist.

Her palms were hot, her wrists were slender, and her whole body looked fragile.

Wen Yuci suddenly remembered what Qiu Yuerong said after she left. She said that Shu Wanning was not in good health and was a little malnourished and needed to be well nourished.

He looked at her a few more times, but his feelings of pity for her did not increase at all. He pulled her hand down and strode out of the room.

Downstairs, the other servants had already left, leaving only Aunt Jing in the living room. Wen Yuci called her over, "Aunt Jing, thank you for taking care of her tonight."

"Okay, don't worry, Master."

Watching him return to the study, Aunt Jing served the soup cooked in the kitchen. She had watched Wen Yuci grow up, and he had been alone for so many years. It would be great if there was someone to accompany him.
