☆, Chapter 65: Not Many People Are Nice to Me
Shu Wanning didn't quite understand what he meant.
The hostility that had just surged up in Wen Yuci dissipated, and he glanced at him coldly.
"Zhai Xuan, it's time for you to go."
He held Shu Wanning in his arms and walked into the elevator. As the elevator door closed, Zhai Xuan slowly lowered his head.
In the elevator, Shu Wanning asked curiously: "What does he want from you?"
Wen Yuci lowered his head and replied to her: "He said that Yang Man went to the Zhai family and cried for a long time, wanting the Zhai family to support her and Wen Yuanguo's company.
The Zhai family does not want to get involved in these open and covert struggles and wants to clarify their position."
"What is the connection between the Zhai family and Yang Man?" she asked.
Inside the car, Wen Yuci explained to her: "The Zhai family's status is similar to that of the Qiu family, and they haven't fought or competed for anything in recent years.
Zhai Xuan's father, Yang Cong, married into the Zhai family, and the two families were originally in harmony.
But because of Yang Man, Yang Cong got into a car accident and couldn't be saved.
Since then, the Zhai family has become increasingly estranged from Yang Man and no longer wants to have anything to do with her."
After a pause, he said, "There must be some other reasons, but they have nothing to do with the Wen family, so I haven't investigated."
He is not a talkative person, but whenever he tells her something, he will tell her in great detail.
Shu Wanning took his hand and shook it, then asked, "What about his sister?"
"Zhai Xuan originally had a younger sister, but she passed away suddenly many years ago. The reason is unclear."
He tilted his head, touched Shu Wanning's cheek and said, "Maybe you look a bit like his sister.
He means no harm, don't worry."
Hearing this, Shu Wanning nodded in relief: "Okay, I understand."
When the two arrived at the garden, Grandma Wen and Wen Yuming were playing chess.
One was calm and composed, while the other frowned and stared at the chess piece in front of him.
Shu Wanning quietly approached Wen Yuming and lowered her voice to deliberately scare him: "Yuming, you lose."
"Ah! Sister-in-law, you're scaring me to death!"
He almost fell off the chair, patted his chest, and looked at Wen Yuci bitterly.
"Brother...save me..."
Wen Yuci sat aside and drank a sip of tea, then shook his head and looked at him: "I've taught you for so many years, but you still can't learn it."
Shu Wanning sat next to Grandma Wen, took her hand and patted it:
"Grandma, if you don't feel comfortable here, go to Qianyue Bay and I'll wait for you."
Grandma Wen smiled and nodded: "Don't worry, I'm fine here."
The Li Garden had been restored to be even more magnificent than before. Shu Wanning looked around and her thoughts couldn't help but go back to the past.
Thinking of...Wen Yuci when we first met.
Wen Yuming took the opportunity to pull Wen Yuci out of the living room and said in a low voice: "I brought grandma's bank card and property certificate."
He raised his chin and waited for praise. Wen Yuci nodded and curled his lips: "Well done."
"Of course! I don't know when they have ever cared about grandma. They're only concerned about the money in grandma's hands!"
Wen Yuci looked at him meaningfully: "But that's your mother."
Wen Yuming lowered his head and muttered: "When did she start caring about me as her son..."
When the two returned to the living room, the two people in the house started a new chess game.
Wen Yuci stood aside and watched the fight. Seeing that Shu Wanning was about to win, he used a little trick to lose to his grandmother.
Grandma Wen yawned tiredly, smiled, and said, "Grandma is old and has no energy."
She put the remaining chess pieces aside, and the servant behind her pushed her wheelchair at the right time.
"Grandma has to go back and rest for a while, you guys can play."
Wen Yuci looked at his grandmother's back, his eyes filled with unremitting sorrow.
Shu Wanning took his hand and looked at him inquiringly, only to see him shake his head slightly.
When we left the park, there was a moment of silence in the car.
After a long time, Wen Yuci's voice fell into her ears, very light and very tired.
He said: "Grandma's body functions have been gradually deteriorating.
Cen You said that no matter how good their medical skills were, there was no way to cure birth, old age, sickness, and death."
He hid the disappointment in his eyes very well.
Shu Wanning didn't know how to comfort him because she had never had any close relatives.
She held his hand, gently stroking the back of his hand with her fingertips, silently comforting him.
Wen Yuci tilted his head to look at her, seemed to want to say something several times but stopped himself, holding her hand tightly without letting go.
"Shu Wanning." He called her softly.
She looked up at him, unable to understand the complex emotions in his eyes.
The road outside the window didn't lead back to Qianyue Bay. She asked him puzzledly, "Where are you going?"
His silence made her feel uneasy. After a long moment, he whispered, "Cemetery."
He raised his eyes to meet hers and said, "I received the news when I left the garden."
"That aunt's surname was Hu. She had brain cancer and passed away only three years after leaving the Shu family.
Her hometown is in a small town outside Beijing. I know you want to see her, so I don’t want to wait until tomorrow to take you there.”
Shu Wanning responded quietly, with her eyelashes drooping.
"I thought I wouldn't be able to see her."
She curled her lips and choked with sobs, "Not many people are kind to me. I've lost another person."
The corners of her eyes were red, and as she blinked, tears fell on her black skirt.
Wen Yuci raised his hand to wipe her tears. It was warm, but he only felt it was hot.
He couldn't comfort her like others could, and he couldn't tell her that there was anyone in the world who would treat her well.
Apart from himself, he could not guarantee that anyone would always love and protect her.
She tilted her head to wipe away her tears, but remained in a bad mood and remained silent.
The car drove from dawn to dusk, and slowly stopped when only a last bit of sunset remained.
Shu Wanning looked out the window at the unfamiliar town outside and Yan He standing not far away.
After getting off the car, Yan He handed her the flowers, white chrysanthemums and yellow chrysanthemums, which were the flowers she hated the most.
Wen Yuci took out the flat shoes that Yan He had prepared from his car and helped Shu Wanning change her high heels.
Yan He led the way in front. After walking across the small hill, Shu Wanning saw the mountain of tombs.
Her footsteps paused for a moment, and Yan He stopped beside a stone tablet. She placed the flowers in front of the tablet.
She knelt in front of the tomb and kowtowed, her back straight, whispering: "Auntie Hu..."
Shu Wanning looked at the cold tombstone in front of her, and she couldn't say a word of what she wanted to say.
She curved her lips into a smile and said only one sentence: "I am not bullied anymore."
She knelt for a long time. Wen Yuci felt sorry for her, but respected her even more.
Seeing that she was about to get up, he helped her up and bowed deeply to the tombstone, as if to express his gratitude to her.
It started to drizzle when they left the cemetery. Shu Wanning folded down the chair and lay on Wen Yuci's legs.
She wrapped her arms around his waist and buried her face in his clothes.
Afraid that she would cry secretly, he reached out his hand tentatively, but she grabbed his hand.
"I didn't cry." She said in a muffled voice: "It's good that I found it."
For the first time, Wen Yuci wished he had parents who loved him, so that they would love him as well.
He had always thought that love was insignificant, but now, he hoped that the person in his arms would have more love.
