Facing Gao Yamei's questioning, Chen Xing answered frankly: "I didn't make it up."

Gao Yamei was really angry when she heard Chen Xing's frank words. She had never asked Chen Xing to be like Chen Yue since she was a child. Because she was considerate of Chen Xing's body, she did not ask too much of Chen Xing, but she would not allow her daughter to do something wrong and feel justified.

Gao Yamei asked, "It's not made up? Then it's true? Then tell me how the bird fell from the tree?"

Chen Xing said: "You won't believe me even if I tell you."

Gao Yamei was not that angry at first. She thought that a few words of education would be enough for the lateness. After all, everyone makes mistakes. But Chen Xing's attitude now made Gao Yamei feel uncomfortable.

Gao Yamei's anger flared up, her eyes frighteningly serious. "What's with that attitude? It's wrong for you to be late. You're not an elementary school student anymore. Even if I don't ask you to be like your sister, you still have to get into college. Do you want to do nothing for the rest of your life and be supported by your parents?"

Chen Xing has heard this many times. Her mother always compares her with Chen Yue, so why does she care about what others do?

Chen Hai saw that Chen Xing looked a little uneasy and said to Gao Yamei, "Okay, kid, you know you were wrong. It's not a big deal. Don't worry about it."

Chen Hai waved to Chen Xing, and Chen Xing returned to his room with his schoolbag.

Gao Yamei hadn't finished speaking yet and wanted to say something else, but was stopped by Chen Hai.

"Okay, what you said just now was too much." Chen Hai is just an ordinary high school teacher. His only contribution to this family is to help the children with their homework.

Chen Hai knew that Gao Yamei was under a lot of pressure at work and had to bear the expenses of the entire family, especially Chen Xing's medical expenses every year. Although their family could still make ends meet, they couldn't be too harsh on their child.

Gao Yamei deals with money every day, whether at work or at home. She hopes that her children will not be like her in the future. She has high expectations for Chen Yue, but she also doesn't want Chen Xing to be unable to be independent because of her weakness.

Gao Yamei does not have a high level of education and firmly believes that strict discipline can produce good students, but over the years, she has rarely considered the true feelings of her two daughters.

Gao Yamei was not someone who would not listen, but because of her status as a mother, she could not bow her head and apologize.

During dinner, Gao Yamei treated the matter as if it had been covered up and never happened, and even picked up some food for Chen Xing.

"I heard your teacher asked you to fill out the college entrance examination application form. What do you two think?"

Gao Yamei asked nonchalantly.

Chen Yue spoke first: "I still want to apply to Hua University."

Gao Yamei laughed when she heard this. She actually didn't educate Chen Yue much. Maybe Chen Yue was just a born good child.

"What about you? Xingxing?" Gao Yamei asked again.

Chen Xing said: "I have no idea."

Gao Yamei seemed to want to hear this. She said, "I think you can improve your grades a bit. That way you can get into a normal school. When you graduate, you can work for your father and have someone to look after you."

Gao Yamei had already made arrangements. In fact, regardless of whether Chen Xing had any ideas or not, she had decided to let Chen Xing be a teacher. At least Chen Xing would not be bullied when he worked in the future, and with Chen Hai taking care of him, the teacher's work would not be too tiring.

Chen Xing didn't say anything, so Gao Yamei took it as her consent, and the meal went smoothly.

After dinner, Chen Yue came to find Chen Xing, "Sister, do you have something to talk to me about?"

The relationship between Chen Xing and Chen Yue is still very harmonious. Although they are sisters, they have never opened their hearts to each other like ordinary sisters. Instead, they are intimate and somewhat polite.

Chen Yue handed her study notes to Chen Xing. "There's an exam tomorrow. I've compiled some common test questions for you."

Chen Xing took Chen Yue's notes and said gently, "Thank you, sister."

Chen Yue gave Chen Xing the study materials, but she had no intention of leaving. She asked, "Xingxing, you don't want to take the normal school exam, right?"

Chen Xing clutched the notebook and lowered his head. "Sister, you don't really want to get into Huazhong University, do you?"

The two sisters asked similar questions, but it was unclear who was telling the truth and who was being disingenuous.

Chen Yue remained as resolute as ever and said, "Huazhong University is my ideal, but being a teacher is not your dream."

Chen Xing didn't know why Chen Yue was so sure. She had never told Chen Yue what she liked.

Chen Xing was silent. Chen Yue continued, "Xingxing, I know you've always liked painting. You hid it from your parents because you were afraid they wouldn't agree. But I'm different. As your sister, I always hope you can be happy."

Chen Yue didn't know when it started, but the relationship between the two sisters became more and more distant. When they were young, they were often inseparable. Although Chen Yue was only a few minutes older than Chen Xing, she always took care of her like an elder.

In Chen Yue's heart, her sister is very important, and she always wants to make her happy, but slowly, somehow, as she grows older, people around her start to compare them more.

Even though Chen Xing didn't listen at first, his parents' opinions always influenced his judgment.

As time went by, Chen Xing felt more and more that he was no match for anyone else. He was like a piece of trash, being carefully protected. He had no thoughts of his own and could not make his own choices.

Chen Xing clearly wanted to go back to the way things were with Chen Yue before, but why could she no longer reach out? Had she changed?

"Sister, I..." The word "sister" on Chen Xing's lips still had a different taste.

Chen Yue didn't say anything, but just smiled knowingly. She touched Chen Xing's head like she did when they were little and said, "Okay, I know everything. If you want, I'll help you."

Chen Yue left after she finished speaking. As the door closed, Chen Xing's heart seemed to be noticed as well.

Chen Xing looked at the notebook in her hand. She admitted that she was indeed jealous of Chen Yue, but she did not want to hurt her. In her heart, she was the best sister.

Maybe one day she will be able to untie the knot in her heart, find her own life, and no longer let gossip affect her inner thoughts.

The entrance exam lasted two days, but the results came out very quickly. Chen Xing took a look at her results and found that she had scored over 500 points, which was several tens of points higher than her previous scores.

Perhaps it was thanks to Chen Yue's notes that her grades didn't drop significantly. After all, when they took the exam again after the summer vacation, more than half of the students still saw a significant decline in their grades.

"Xingxing, you are really amazing. Your ranking has moved up by dozens of places." Shi Nannan couldn't help but praise Chen Xing when she saw that her name was too far down.

"Nannan, actually it's not entirely my own level. I looked at my sister's notes last night." Chen Xing said proudly.

Before Shi Nannan could even open her mouth, the people around her started to make sarcastic remarks: "Humph! No wonder Chen Xing did so well in the exam, it turns out he had Chen Yue's help."

"I wish I had a sister like Chen Yue."
