Chapter 240 Neither of them came back

A small incident occurred during the spring plowing period.

If nothing happens, it's all just a joke. Only when something happens will people feel scared when they think about it.

It was Monday, and school was almost over. Of the children at home, Shuying, who lived in the city boarding school, was absent. Only Shumei, who attended the village primary school relatively close by, returned on time. The remaining two boys, who were attending junior high school in the countryside, were nowhere to be seen.

Lin Guoqing came back early from work to plant rice seedlings. The three adults in the family were so focused on the fields that no one noticed.

It was getting dark, and Shumei ran to the edge of the field and said that she had already steamed the rice, but her brothers had not returned yet, so they began to feel something was wrong.

"Hasn't come back yet?!" Lin Guoqing stood on the ground, holding his waist. He didn't even notice the word "men" that Shumei said, and subconsciously thought that only the third brother had not come back.

"He's not bringing anyone back to watch TV today? What did your second brother say? He wasn't seen after school?"

Lin Shumei shook her head. "Neither of them came back. Third Brother's classmates are already sitting there. I asked Sister Qi Ni to help me watch over the people in the yard."

Neither of them came back, and the three people in the field were stunned.

Lin Shugan never failed to tell an adult in advance who he was going to or what he was doing, or why he didn't come home on time. This was especially true after they went hiking during the Lunar New Year holiday. Chen Chunhua had repeatedly warned him not to play on the way home after school and to come home early.

This could happen to Lin Shuchao, but it would never happen to Lin Shugan.

Chen Chunhua threw the unplanted rice seedlings into the basket and climbed out of the paddy field. She rubbed the mud on her hands on her trouser legs, put on her cloth shoes and hurried home.

"You just said that your third brother's classmates are already here?"

"Yeah." Lin Shumei seemed to have sensed the sudden tension in the atmosphere, her face tense. "Everyone who came to watch TV before is here."

Lin Guoqing and Liang Shengdi also continued, picked up the baskets and ran back behind Shen Chunhua.

The TV was still replaying Huo Yuanjia. All the boys and girls in the yard were watching silently, their eyes fixed on the screen, afraid of missing anything.

"The one in the blue cotton coat is my third brother's deskmate, Yang Xiaoshu. They always go home from school together." Lin Shumei followed her mother closely and pointed at the person to Chen Chunhua as soon as she entered the yard.

Yang Xiaoshu was watching Huo Yuanjia fight Miyamoto Izhe, his hands clenched tightly, his expression excited. Then he felt someone tug at his arm. Without even turning around, he shouted, "What are you doing? Why are you pulling me?"

"Yang Xiaoshu, right?" Chen Chunhua was a little anxious, but she tried to remain calm in front of her son's classmates. "Didn't my Shuchao come back with you?"

Yang Xiaoshu then turned around and realized it was Lin Shuchao's mother. She quickly stood up and said, "Oh, Auntie. Lin Shuchao? He ran into his uncle when he was leaving the school just now. His uncle said he wanted to take him to buy food."

His uncle?

What uncle does he have!

Chen Chunhua felt as if her heart had suddenly dropped to the bottom of the valley, and her back felt cold.

Lin Guoqing also heard the word "uncle" said by Yang Xiaoshu, and cursed his mother directly, then turned around and ran outside. He wanted to find someone to go to the township public security bureau together.

A boy next to Yang Xiaoshu heard this and looked up and said,

"Just now, when we were halfway there, Brother Shugan caught up with us and asked about Lin Shuchao. Then he seemed to turn around and go back to look for him."

Chen Chunhua asked Liang Shengdi to look after the children at home and asked Shumei not to go out. She followed Lin Guoqing and ran all the way.

"Is that kid crazy? He knows Chen Xiasheng! He just followed him!"

The wind was still cold in the early spring night. As she ran against the wind, Chen Chunhua felt as if there was liquid coming out of her eyes that she could never wipe away.

Lin Guoqing's tone is much calmer than Chen Chunhua's, but if you listen carefully, you can hear how much gnashing of teeth is in his words.

"When we sent your parents away last time, we all sat down and chatted when we got back. This kid is just too curious. I guess he's just too bored!"

To get to the village entrance from the house they live in now, they have to cross the fields. The road is full of villagers who have just finished planting rice in the fields and are preparing to go home for dinner. Seeing them rushing home just now and now rushing out again, they are very curious.

Chen Chunhua and Lin Guoqing did not hide the truth and said that the two children had not returned yet and they were afraid that they had encountered human traffickers.

Human traffickers?! This is too much!

For thousands of years, this was the most hated type of criminal, a criminal that anyone could kill at any time and in any place. If the police hadn't arrived in time, they might have been beaten to death on the spot.

Those who had just climbed out of the fields did not go home, but followed the two men and ran out of the village.

You ask them what they can do? Who knows what they can do? But who doesn’t have several children? They are all from the same village. If you don’t go with them, what if your child gets lost next time?

Ugh! No one's child can be lost!

A group of people, their trouser legs still covered in mud, some holding hoes, some carrying baskets, ran to the main road at the entrance of the village in a hurry, talking in a flurry about whether some of them should go to report the case and some should go to look around the school or the nearby villages, etc.

Chen Chunhua only remembered when she ran to the road that she had forgotten to use the tricycle just now. At least she could go faster!

A small black car was coming towards us on the road. No one was interested in seeing such a rare and valuable thing, as they were all busy discussing how to find the person!

The car approached and then slowed down. The rear window rolled down and a head popped out.

"Dad! Mom! Where are you going?"

Lin Guoqing and Shen Chunhua were startled and looked over there.

"Third brother!"

“Super!”

Well, the tactics we just discussed to find people are no longer useful, the people came back on their own.

The car stopped, and Lin Shuchao spent a long time studying the door handle. Lin Shugan, sitting next to him, didn't know how to use it, so he was afraid it would break if he fiddled with it. Finally, it was Lao Liu in the passenger seat who got out and opened the door for them.

"You little brat! Are you really itching for a beating after three days?" Chen Chunhua rushed forward and raised her hand towards the dead kid. After raising it for a long time, she finally slapped him on the arm.

"Ouch, ouch, mom! It hurts!"

Seeing the two brothers jumping around in full health, with no injuries from head to toe, Lin Guoqing finally let out the breath he had been holding in his body.

"Public Security Officer Liu, these two kids must have caused you trouble..." He stretched out his hand to shake hands with Comrade Lao Liu. With the relationship with Qi Jinzhou, they were considered acquaintances.

Liu Gongan looked at the two boys over there and laughed, "That's not a big deal. Your two children are very smart. We don't have to do anything, just help send them back."
