There are two stoves in the single mushroom house. The heating starts from the night when the materials are added. A water pot is placed on the stove to replenish the moisture in the room. The room temperature of the materials must be heated to 60 degrees and maintained for three hours.
Chen Chunhua clearly remembered that it was July 11, three days before the double harvest and four days before the high school entrance examination. She almost got heatstroke in the mushroom house in the middle of the night, and it was Lin Guoqing who carried her out.
"Can't you burn it during the day? And do you have to stay inside? I almost got scalded to death when I opened the door. Touch your skin, it's all hot!"
Chen Chunhua: "...I don't want to either. Aren't the fields being watered during the day? Mom is too busy catching fish, how could I possibly have time to come and burn the room."
She just wanted to plant it sooner. The sooner she burned the seeds, the sooner she could plant them. She'd already invested so much money and effort, and if she didn't get some flowers, it would be a shame. She'd also borrowed a disinfectant machine, which she had to return tomorrow.
However, it is really impossible to stay there all the time. After disinfection, the room temperature must be lowered to around 50 degrees and maintained for three days in order to cultivate microorganisms to decompose the pile of materials.
During these three days, Chen Chunhua could only come over from time to time to add some coal balls and water, and she had to come over in the middle of the night, otherwise all her work would be in vain if the temperature dropped.
Lin Guoqing felt sorry for her, so he came to take her place the next night. However, he kept cursing while adding coal briquettes. In a 50-degree environment, he felt like he could burn his skin just by picking up the pot of water. God knows how Chen Chunhua managed to get through those days.
When the three days were up, she opened the doors and windows to ventilate the soil. In the afternoon, she sprayed 2% lime clarified water on the surface of the four beds of compost.
The next day, the material on the mushroom bed was turned over again to remove residual heat and foreign air. The lumps of feces and impurities were also picked up, and it was mixed as evenly as possible. The baffle was only 5 inches high, but the material was piled up to 4 inches thick.
Finally, spray the surface with lime clarified water containing 1% glucose.
She did all these things by herself because everyone was busy harvesting rice in the fields. She kept track of time as she went back and forth between the mushroom house and the fields, and she didn't even remember that today was the last day of the high school entrance examination for her second child.
Fortunately, the second son is doing well, otherwise... otherwise she would have no choice. Everyone has their own responsibilities, and she can't help him take the exam, so she can only do her own thing first.
To put it bluntly, the purpose of studying is to make money. The only difference is that if you study well, you can make money easily, but if you don't study well, you will have to work harder to make money.
If you really can't go to school, then come and work for her. Isn't her current hard work as a mother just for her children to make money more easily in the future?
On July 18, after nearly a month, we were finally able to plant the seeds.
The fungus strains were cultivated early in the morning and were grown in large glass bottles together with the batch of enoki mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms.
This time, Lin Shumei was called because she was the youngest and the others in the fields were more efficient than her, so they didn't have to compete with the rice for time.
Chen Chunhua first disinfected the tools and the surface of the culture bottle with 3% potassium permanganate solution, then dug out the culture and poured it into a clean basin.
When planting the seeds, she evenly spread the fungus seeds on the surface of the nutrient medium, and then Shumei gently patted the surface of the material with her hands so that the fungus seeds were close to the nutrient medium.
She still remembered the smell of shit when she saw her mother rummaging through the food that day. Although the smell was not as strong now and she was still wearing a mask, she still frowned and her disgust was evident.
Chen Chunhua glanced at her and said, "Don't be disgusted. If you fail to get into university, you will have to come back and take care of these manures every day."
Lin Shumei:!!! She swore! She would definitely get into college!
One bottle of fungus seed was used for every two square feet, and four beds would use up exactly four bottles. Then, the ground was watered and the doors and windows were tightly closed. The north-facing door was only opened for a quarter of an hour each day, not even allowing a breeze to blow in.
Water the ground twice a day, morning and evening, to maintain humidity and temperature. After three days, the fungus germinated, and after six days, the fungus colonized.
Then we need to ventilate the soil every day, water the ground and spray the mushroom beds.
After the double harvest is over, a layer of white silk can be clearly seen on the nutrients. At this time, you still need to continue ventilating and spraying, and start covering the soil.
First, spray 0.2% dichlorvos and close the doors and windows for 2 hours to kill insects. Then open the windows for ventilation. Remove the old spawn from the mushroom bed and level the surface so that the mycelium is fully covered. After two days, cover the surface with a layer of coarse soil, just enough to cover the culture medium.
After covering the soil, use a sprayer to spray it repeatedly and lightly so that each grain of soil can be flattened, crushed, non-sticky, and has no white core.
To be honest, this standard annoys Chen Chunhua.
Allow the soil to ventilate overnight, and the next day, cover it with fine soil again, again until it's almost completely covered with the coarse soil. Then, open the doors and windows to ventilate the soil and spray it with water. The water should be slightly wetter than the coarse soil.
Then ventilate the room overnight, and close the doors and windows the next day to maintain humidity and allow the mycelium to grow from the material to the soil. After that, open the north door for 18 hours during the day and spray twice.
After a week, cover with a second layer of fine soil, ventilate and spray water to maintain room temperature.
Two days before the children started school, the first batch of mushrooms had already formed. The ventilation volume was reduced from high to low, water was sprayed to increase humidity, and the relative humidity was maintained at 90%. The room temperature was required to be below 20 degrees.
The mushroom house could not be moved, so Chen Chunhua was thinking about buying a refrigerator and putting ice cubes in the mushroom house.
Lin Guoqing asked her, how much does this mushroom cost per pound?
I gave up and could only water it more. In fact, when the humidity is 90%, and there is some ventilation, the temperature in the room will not rise too high. And in autumn, it is still possible to maintain a temperature below 20 degrees.
By the time the shiitake mushrooms are ready to be harvested, the first batch of Agaricus bisporus can also be harvested.
The key point is that the Agaricus bisporus grown in mushroom beds can be harvested for the second round in about half a month after one round of harvesting.
On average, one kilogram of mushrooms can be harvested from each square meter of mushroom bed. A total of eight kilograms of Agaricus bisporus were harvested from the four layers of a mushroom bed. This amount was only enough for the family to eat and to share some with the Ma family, but Chen Chunhua still enjoyed the food very much.
See?! She's already grown two new varieties of mushrooms! When the weather gets a little colder, she'll go back and research enoki mushrooms again. Then they'll have mushrooms to sell year-round! That's a lot of money!
Chen Chunhua took a bite of the fried Agaricus bisporus slices with snow vegetables and vowed that one day she would build a mushroom house for each kind of mushroom!
Lin Guoqing clapped his hands in encouragement, "Boss Shen, how about I come work for you? Let me help you develop this mushroom farm?"
"Get lost! Go back to your supply and marketing department!" Chen Chunhua scolded with a smile, "If you run away, I'm afraid your factory director will come knocking on our door in the middle of the night!"
The couple was laughing here, when suddenly they heard Liang Shengdi yelling at Lin Shuchao on the other end.
"Yo~ Eating shit? How does it taste?"
"grandmother!"
"mom!"
