The cave was pretty good, it could shelter her from the wind and rain. Liang Shengdi felt lazy and decided to lie there for two more days. She would be exhausted if she couldn't find a place to rest on the next stretch of the road.
She didn't dare go into the cave. She just sprinkled a circle of realgar powder around the fire at the entrance of the cave and lay down there peacefully.
Although it was still daytime, she was so sleepy that she lay down with the sweet potato bag as a pillow and closed her eyes. She didn't care about the wolves, tigers and leopards, she just wanted to get enough sleep first.
He refused to take off any of the copper coins on his body, and would hold them tightly as a blanket while sleeping. I don't know if he was afraid that a snake would steal them to play with them, or that a wolf would take them away and eat them.
Fortunately, no wild animals came to visit her during the few days she was lying there, allowing her to lie down peacefully for three days.
To be honest, Liang Shengdi has never been so idle in her life since she could remember. She slept until she woke up naturally, ate when she was hungry, and drank when she was thirsty. She didn't have to do farm work, housework, or take care of that bastard brother.
She just leaned against the stone wall, staring blankly at the sky outside, feeling the not-so-warm wind. This was the first time in her life that she had nothing to do and was not scolded for being lazy.
She was so relaxed that she didn't know what day it was, and her mind was even a little hazy.
With nothing else to do, she dug out a few branches with her hoe and wove a basket that she could carry under her arm. As she walked along that day, she found quite a few mushrooms on the ground, but she had never seen most of them before and was afraid to pick them.
After three days of eating sweet potatoes without even a snack of wild vegetables, Liang Shengdi was already feeling a bit heartburned. She was almost done with the rest of the day. She'd set out again at dawn tomorrow. If she saw anything edible, she'd put it in the basket and change things up.
Liang Shengdi also felt that she should have brought a pot with her that day, at least she could cook something or boil some water. She had been drinking raw water for three days and eating sweet potatoes, and her farts felt damp.
But she was, after all, trying to escape, so how could she possibly carry so much? Then again, she didn't know what was happening in the village. When her parents woke up, would they point their fingers at the sky and curse her to death?
Of course there is, Liang Shengdi can imagine that scene.
Including but not limited to,
There are five pounds of sweet potatoes missing from the kitchen;
After taking the money from someone, the girl disappeared, and the money had to be returned. The person could only summon a large group of helpers to suppress the situation.
Going to get money to pay a debt, when I opened the money jar, I found it had been robbed;
Everyone was able to sleep so soundly that night, I guess that damn girl must have done something;
The whole village was searching for him, but no one knew where the damned money-losing guy had gone.
…
Thinking about it, Liang Shengdi almost laughed out loud. Curse her, curse her, she won't go back anyway.
That place where people eat people is not as cute as the little animals in the mountains.
Look, Liang Shengdi actually caught a pheasant in the trap she dug.
Although this bird was small and a bit fierce, Liang Shengdi didn't pick it and killed it with a hoe.
The night before setting off again, I forced myself to have a barbecue meal, but it just had no taste.
Oh, it should have been a little saltier...
With a little regret again, Liang Shengdi fell asleep early.
The next day, he set off again, carrying sweet potatoes on his back, wearing copper coins and a quilt, holding a basket in his left hand and a hoe in his right hand.
After resting, she walked very fast, her eyes always scanning the road. Anything edible she saw, whether wild vegetables or mushrooms, she threw into the basket, preparing for the next meal.
As I was walking, I would often hear a sound from the sky, then a bang, and it felt like the whole mountain was shaking, and then it would return to calm; after a while it would happen again.
Liang Shengdi knew that there must be a war going on outside, with those planes flying back and forth and dropping bombs. Maybe there were people living at the foot of the mountain...
Sometimes I think that going into the mountains is really a good idea. No matter how dangerous the mountains are, can they be as dangerous as the outside world?
Liang Shengdi silently turned her direction inside again. There was a war going on outside, and many people would probably run into the mountains. She didn't really want to meet anyone, no matter if they were good or bad. In such times, only those who could survive could be called human beings.
After walking and stopping for three or four days, there were only three small sweet potatoes left in the bag. She had been looking for other food to eat during these days, but she didn't dare go into the water. She didn't dare to mess with the big animals on land, so she just tried her luck with the small ones.
There are only five pounds of sweet potatoes in the bag, and they will be finished one day.
Liang Shengdi sighed, not knowing where she had gone. Had she even left their city? Would she die if she left now?
Otherwise... just try to catch some fish?
Liang Shengdi squatted by the water, looking at the dark water, but ultimately she didn't have the courage to go in. Forget it, she decided to walk outside. Maybe she could find a shallower lake or less ferocious animals out there.
After she roasted the remaining three sweet potatoes at once, she put them in her arms. She dusted off the bag and used it to hold the quilt. The burden on her body was not so heavy anymore, and Liang Shengdi's steps became much lighter.
She thought she had walked quite far into the mountains, but unexpectedly, after walking for only half a day, she found many traces of people.
There were broken shoes lying by the trees, freshly pulled vegetables, plucked wild fruits, and even large trees with their bark scraped off. Liang Shengdi even saw a trap and nearly stepped into it, cursing the man for his lack of martial ethics.
Liang Shengdi wandered around a lot of places and found that there was nothing to eat except trees and weeds. She was a little speechless.
Countless people have come here before. I don't know if they came in to look for food and left after finding it, or if they just hid in the mountains like her and didn't come out for the time being.
As they walked, Liang Shengdi suddenly saw a lot of corpses on the ground, which scared her a little. They all looked like farmers, including men, women, young and old. Some had their heads broken open, some were shot in the back, and a woman was holding a child in her arms. Both the child and the mother were dead.
Liang Shengdi only felt that her legs and feet were a little weak, and there was something stuck in her throat, and she was burning.
Suddenly, she turned to the side of a big tree and came face to face with a living person. Both of them were startled, and Liang Shengdi took several steps back.
That was a man sitting against a tree and drinking water. Liang Shengdi took a closer look and realized that this guy was... a Japanese?
The man looked Liang Shengdi up and down. Well, she was a dirty little girl, but she looked very young.
He glanced around and made sure that no one was around. He was not afraid at all and started to stand up with a smile on his face. One of his hands was on his belt.
"Yoshi yoshi... Flower girl..."
"Your mother's money is wasted!"
Liang Shengdi picked up the hoe and rushed forward, hitting the target right in the heart with the hoe!
