Chapter 5
When they were almost at the foot of the mountain, Chu Shao stopped. He opened the banana leaves wrapped around the rabbit legs, tore off a large piece of meat and handed it to Chu Jiujiu.
Chu Jiujiu shook her head and said, "I'm not hungry yet, Grandpa."
Chu Shao: "Eat even if you're not hungry. There will be nothing to eat when you go down the mountain."
Chu Jiujiu blinked and took the meat. Before she put it in her mouth, she heard Chu Shao say, "Also, don't call me grandpa from now on."
"What should I call you then?"
Chu Shao thought for a moment and said, "Call me brother."
Okay, brother is brother, she won’t suffer any loss anyway.
The two men quickly finished off a rabbit leg. Chu Shao threw the bones away and continued down the mountain.
The way they went down the mountain was different from the way they went up. There was a big locust tree at the place where they went up the mountain, but after coming down, she found that this was the place where she first appeared, and in front of her was a large green farmland.
Passing by the house where the woman and the old lady lived again, Chu Jiujiu took another look, but did not see the two familiar faces.
Chu Shao took Chu Jiujiu around the village. Whenever they met other villagers, they would whisper about the pairing of Chu Shao and Chu Jiujiu. Strangely, no one came over to ask about it.
When she arrived at the Zhang family’s gate, Chu Jiujiu finally understood why no one asked.
Sharp and vulgar curses continued to emanate from the courtyard. Occasionally, someone would try to stop her cursing, but since the person she was cursing at was not around, it was useless. As a result, she would curse the person who tried to stop her curse at her again.
No need to ask, this is the powerful Mrs. Zhang.
The whole village knows Mrs. Zhang's reputation as a bully both at home and abroad. No one dares to interfere in their family affairs for fear of getting themselves implicated.
"You bastard! I treated him to delicious food and drinks, yet he beat Fulai like this! I've made an enemy! What an ungrateful bastard! He still has the nerve to run away. Fulai, just wait, wait until he comes back, and I'll make him kneel down for you!"
The Zhang family had their own fence, with a bamboo gate in the middle, but it wasn't even a meter high; it was just a decoration. Mrs. Zhang's curses echoed through the air. Now that work was over, everyone was sitting at home waiting for dinner, but no one came out to watch the fun.
Because Mrs. Zhang had been cursing like this for half an hour.
Her eldest daughter-in-law, Zhang Fulai's mother, also scolded him, "Mom! We really can't keep this kid any longer. He's so unruly and disobedient, and now he's even beating up our family members. It's like this now, why should we keep him? With him here, no one in our family can eat enough. Qingguo doesn't even have the energy to work in the fields, and the rice harvest is coming soon. If this continues, how are we going to survive?"
The eldest daughter-in-law is Niu Ailing, the wife of Zhang Qingguo, the eldest son of the Zhang family. Zhang Fulai is her youngest son, and he is her life. She will say whatever she wants today to vent her son's anger.
Zhang Qingguo was a little hesitant. "That's not good. After all, Chu Shao is my eldest sister's son..."
Niu Ailing looked at him with dismay, "Big sister, big sister, your eldest sister is dead! When she was alive, we were all in trouble. Now that she's dead, her son has taken over her job. You only have your eldest sister in your eyes, and your son is not a human being. He deserves to be beaten half to death?!"
Niu Ailing's words and actions made it seem as if Zhang Qingguo was very good to Chu Shao's mother. In fact, he didn't care about Chu Shao's mother and at most he had never bullied her.
Zhang Qingguo felt humiliated after being scolded by his wife, so he simply shut up and went to rest.
In the room, Zhang Fulai was still howling in pain, which sounded weird. However, if you listened carefully, you would find that he was just howling for nothing. If he was really beaten half to death, how could he still have the strength to howl like that?
Zhao Shiliu, the second daughter-in-law of the Zhang family, stood under the eaves, sneered in her heart, and said nothing on her face, as if she didn't exist.
The second branch of the family no longer lives here. They just have a separate room but not a separate family. They still have to come back to the old lady's house for meals. But the old lady was angry today and didn't cook at all. She didn't know how long she would stop scolding, and her stomach couldn't take it anymore.
Zhao Shiliu was absent-minded and looked around. Just then he saw a figure standing outside the fence. Zhao Shiliu was immediately overjoyed: "Oh, my nephew is back!"
She was really happy. Now that Chu Shao was back, the old lady could beat someone up to vent her anger. After beating Chu Shao, they could start eating.
After Zhao Shiliu finished shouting, everyone looked at Chu Shao. Mrs. Zhang even moved at the sound, picked up a fire stick and rushed out.
"I'll beat you to death, you ungrateful wolf!"
If it were any other time, Chu Shao might have hidden away, but the situation today was special. Chu Shao gritted his teeth and prepared to endure the beating.
But he didn't expect that Chu Jiujiu suddenly jumped out and, taking advantage of her height advantage, pushed Zhang Pozi's waist hard.
"Why did you hit my grandpa!!!"
Mrs. Zhang was pushed back two steps. Just as she was about to get angry, she saw Chu Jiujiu's unfamiliar and beautiful face. Her throat choked. At the same time, the people inside heard the noise and chased out.
Niu Ailing's eyes widened, "What did you just say?!"
Chu Jiujiu paused in her anger, turned around and yelled at Niu Ailing, "What are you talking about?! Don't you understand what I'm saying?! Why are you hitting my brother?!"
Chu Shao: “…”
Zhang family: "..."
They always felt that what she said was different, but seeing how confident she was, they thought that they might have heard it wrong.
Chu Jiujiu continued to blast Niu Ailing: "If your ears aren't working, go see an ENT doctor. If your brain isn't working, go see a psychiatrist. If you see both departments together, you might get a buy-two-get-one-free deal. They might even give you a day trip to the cardiology department! Then ask the doctor to take a good look at what's wrong with those wolf hearts and dog lungs you transplanted last year. Why aren't you treating healthy people instead of just barking like a stray dog?"
Chu Shao: Good guy.
Niu Ailing stared with her eyes wide open, her face redder than a monkey's butt, all because she was holding it in.
"You, you damned girl, how dare you scold me?!"
The Zhang family was stunned. They probably didn't expect that such a small child could say such a long string of words, and there was obviously not a single dirty word in it, but it made Niu Ailing very angry.
Although the country people are not well educated, they can still understand Chinese, but the amount of information is too large and they need to wait a few seconds.
Mrs. Zhang was worthy of being the most powerful woman in Qingzhu Village when it came to scolding people on the street. She reacted the fastest and her nose got crooked the fastest from anger: "You little bastard, who are you calling a stray dog?"
Chu Jiujiu was almost pissed off when she heard them talking outside just now. Now she felt a little relieved.
Glancing at Mrs. Zhang, a tall and burly woman whose wrinkles were practically etched with the words vicious and fierce, Chu Jiujiu smiled brightly and apologized readily, "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have called you a stray dog. Stray dogs are not as ferocious as you. When people pick up bricks, they get scared and run away. Stray dogs are not worthy of you. You are a blind wolf."
Mrs. Zhang: "...You little bastard, say it again if you can!"
"I'll say it again, isn't it wrong to be a blind wolf? You said my brother is an ungrateful wolf, so aren't you, his grandmother, a blind wolf too? An old blind wolf at that, too old and ugly, unable to work, the kind that will be eaten by an eagle sooner or later!"
Mrs. Zhang was furious. She didn't care who Chu Jiujiu was and picked up the fire poker to hit her. Of course Chu Jiujiu had to run away. She nimbly hid behind Chu Shao, and Chu Shao snatched the fire poker away from her in a very reliable manner.
Mrs. Zhang beat him, but he was thick-skinned and didn't care. However, she couldn't beat Chu Jiujiu.
Mrs. Zhang's hands were empty, and she looked at Chu Shao in astonishment. Chu Shao was twelve years old this year and was stronger than her. He held the fire stick and looked at her with a very unfriendly look. Perhaps it was true what the saying "ungrateful" meant, because he now looked like a wolf cub that eats human flesh.
Mrs. Zhang is a person who bullies the weak and fears the strong. She will beat to death those she can beat, and scold to death those she can't beat. If she can't even beat them by scolding them, she has another trick up her sleeve: crying, making a fuss, and even threatening to hang herself.
The neighbors seemed to be eating quietly at home, but they were actually listening with their ears perked up. When they heard something wrong outside, they quickly put down their bowls and chopsticks. Those who were close saw Mrs. Zhang raise her head and slap her thighs with both hands, and they knew she was about to make a scene.
It's the same old drama every time, so boring.
The man shook his head and was about to go back to eat when suddenly, a round head popped out from behind Chu Shao. She grabbed Chu Shao's clothes and tilted her head to look at Mrs. Zhang's actions. In a flash, she remembered a rural TV series she had watched when she was two years, eight months and twenty days old.
After completing the preparations, Mrs. Zhang opened her mouth wide and was about to cry out when she heard an even louder voice coming from behind Chu Shao.
"Wuwuwu I won't live anymore!"
"This is so unfair! I'm only nine years old, and you're trying to kill me!"
Chu Shao: “…”
Zhang family: "..."
Mrs. Zhang: “…”
You little bastard, you're stealing my lines!
