Chapter 29 Finding a Solution

Seeing the worry in Qin Yue's eyes, Qin Mu knew she was just saying that and smiled without replying.

Perhaps because they all share the surname Qin, the Qin siblings have a very good impression of Qin Mu.

“If you can help Huaidao, then try your best to help him. Give him something to do; it’s better than him just thinking aimlessly all day.”

"Okay." Qin Mu nodded seriously.

Seeing that Qin Mu agreed, Qin Yue was also very happy. The two siblings took Qin Mu to tour Juyong Pass, showing him everything except the military camp. It wasn't until evening, after having dinner at a restaurant, that they took Qin Mu back to his villa.

"You're back?" The two siblings had just returned home when they heard a familiar voice.

"Father." The two stopped and walked to the pavilion under the tree, bowing respectfully.

"Please sit down."

"How was your day?" Qin Yao asked after the two sat down.

“Brother Huaidao is a good friend,” Qin Yue replied.

"Friends?" Qin Yao raised an eyebrow. He hadn't expected that the two of them would consider each other friends after only knowing each other for a day.

"Huai Dao is indeed a good person, kind and warm-hearted," Qin Yue agreed.

"Kind-hearted!" Qin Yao felt even more puzzled; both children actually seemed to like Qin Mu. If this wasn't genuine, then it was extremely hypocritical. However, considering Qin Mu's age, he felt relieved.

"Yes, Brother Huaidao promised to help me find a solution," Qin Yue said happily. This wasn't their first meeting, and he already trusted Qin Mu completely. He had tried countless methods without success, or at least with poor results. It was rare for someone to offer help, and he certainly didn't want his dream to be shattered before it even began.

Knowing his son's worries, Qin Yao naturally didn't believe that a young man could solve a problem that many adults hadn't been able to solve for generations. He simply dismissed it as youthful impetuosity and laughed it off.

"hehe."

"Qin Mu is Qin Qiong, the Duke of Yi, and his eldest son who has been separated from his family for many years. I didn't tell you this for two reasons: first, he hasn't yet acknowledged his ancestry; second, I wanted you to interact with him as normal people. Now that you're getting along well, it's alright to tell you. From now on, just pretend you don't know," Qin Yao continued.

The two siblings were surprised to learn that Qin Mu had such a background, and blinked in astonishment before nodding and replying, "Understood."

"Go and get some rest," Qin Yao said, waving his hand as he saw that there was nothing else to do.

"It's Father." The two siblings exchanged a glance, hurriedly stood up and bowed, seemingly eager to leave. It was clear that, like most young people, they didn't like spending too much time with their strict father.

"Come back! What are you holding?" The two siblings had only taken a few steps when they were called back. It turned out that, because they were relaxed, they had both started waving folding fans.

"This is a folding fan given to me by Brother Huaidao." The two siblings placed the folding fan in front of Qin Yao, and Qin Yue introduced it.

"Take it." Qin Yao picked up the folding fan, turned it over and over to look at it. After looking at the poem on it, he realized it was clearly not suitable for him. Qin Yao's lips twitched, and he threw the folding fan down.

The two grabbed the folding fan and turned to leave, but after only a few steps, they heard his father's voice again.

"Send a few fans to my study tomorrow."

Upon hearing this, the two breathed a sigh of relief, because they now knew that the fan was made by the craftsmen in the manor.

"The craftsmen are mine now," Qin Yue said with a slightly domineering air.

"Alright! Alright! But you should check if Brother Huaidao still needs it," Qin Yue reminded him.

"Hmph! Of course I know, why do you need to tell me?" Qin Yuexiang wrinkled her nose and said arrogantly, then turned and left.

Qin Mu, of course, was unaware of the Qin family's conversation. After enjoying a pleasant day, he read for a while and then drifted off to sleep.

The next morning, just as dawn was breaking, Qin Yue knocked on the door.

"Brother Lingyun, do you really need to come so early? I haven't eaten yet," Qin Mu said with a wry smile.

"Is it too early? Why don't you sleep a little longer, Brother Huaidao?" Qin Yue looked up at the sky and hesitated for a moment before asking.

Although he knew that getting up early to read was good, Qin Mu had not yet developed the habit of getting up before dawn.

"Never mind, they're all awake."

"You eat first, I've already had meat porridge prepared."

"Okay, let me wash up first."

“Brother Huaidao, I thought about it last night and it was really a bit much to ask you to help me find a solution. But you’ve been through a lot, so let’s investigate and see if we can make some slight changes. Here’s a map of the three passes. Take a look at it after you’ve eaten.” Qin Yue sat down at the table and took out several rolls of animal hides.

"Brother Lingyun, you didn't sleep all night, did you?" Qin Mu asked, taking a closer look at Qin Yue, whose eyes were bloodshot.

"I slept for a while, it's nothing, you should eat first," Qin Yue said, waving his hand dismissively.

Seeing that he was getting impatient, Qin Mu picked up the bowl, drank the meat porridge in a few gulps, and said, "Let's go, let's go see the largest stream nearby first."

When Qin Shi Huang built the Great Wall, he relocated prisoners, soldiers, and conscripted laborers to this area. The name Juyong Pass was derived from the phrase "relocating the laborers," and it is located in the Taihang Mountains.

Qin Mu accompanied Qin Yue on horseback for a whole day, mainly to inspect the waterways and the farming methods of the local people. It must be said, the situation once again exceeded Qin Mu's expectations.

When I read history books before, they recorded that ordinary people didn't have many bronze or iron tools, but now it seems completely different. First of all, hoes and rakes were made of iron. Plowshares were also made of iron.

The farmers were not unskilled; they did all the work, from weeding to fertilizing.

"Let's continue tomorrow. Take a look and decide where we're going tomorrow," Qin Yue said as the two returned to the pass before dark.

"No need. I've asked the locals and looked at the map, so I have a general idea," Qin Mu said, shaking his head.

"Is that the answer?" Qin Yue asked in surprise.

"Yes, I have some ideas, but there's still room for improvement before we can make significant progress," Qin Mu said, his brows furrowing slightly.

"Really?" Qin Yue asked in surprise. Judging from Qin Mu's words, he already had a solution, but it couldn't completely change the current situation.

For Qin Yue, having even the slightest solution represents a step forward, and that's enough for him.

"Don't worry, come find me tomorrow, and I'll give you the answer," Qin Mu said confidently.

"Great! Great! That's wonderful!" Qin Yue exclaimed excitedly.

After a day of riding horses, Qin Mu was exhausted, especially his buttocks, which were almost bleeding from the chafing. However, thinking of being able to do something for the people, he endured his fatigue, took a bath, and then laid out his brush, ink, paper, and inkstone to begin summarizing the differences between the other world and this one, looking for areas where he could learn from them.
