Xie Xiao, who was already injured, fell towards the weapon rack when she bumped into him. Li Ruofei quickly went to support the weapon rack, but he caught her in his arms.
"Let go." Li Ruo grabbed a knife in her hand. "Or I'll chop your hand off."
"Okay, go ahead and chop it up."
Even though he could barely stand, he could still laugh. "If you want to be a widow, then chop me up."
Li Ruo glared at him.
He stared intently at her.
Both of their eyes were a little red, and there was a bruise under his eye. His hair was messy, and his eyes were fierce. "I missed you so much and was in a hurry to come back to see you, and this is how you treat me."
"How do you expect me to treat you?" Li Ruo's lips curled into a sarcastic smile. "You're hiding things from me, and you won't even let me be angry?"
Xie Xiao's breath hitched. "I went to Beishan without telling you because I didn't want you to take the risk with me. Because Lao Si acted on his own, everything was rushed, and General Zhao was late. Who knows what might happen?"
Li Ruo smiled, but there was no smile in her eyes. "With you, Chief Xie, planning ahead and burying such a deep pawn, what danger can't be averted?"
Xie Xiao's arm around her stiffened.
Li Ruo's tone was filled with icy anger, "What did you say when Guan Siyu appeared last time? You asked the Fourth Master who she was and said you had never seen her before, but you even managed to get her father on your side."
Xie Xiao's eyes darkened, a complex emotion flashing in them.
Seeing his expression, Li Ruo felt a pang of guilt. "You've known Marquis Xinyang for a long time, and you've known her for a long time too, haven't you?"
Xie Xiao said, "I do know him."
Li Ruo scoffed, "Then we have nothing to say."
She pushed his chest, hitting his wound squarely. Xie Xiao groaned, loosened his grip slightly, then grabbed her arm again, staring intently at her with a look of deep, dark emotion in his eyes.
"The Marquis of Xinyang is a pawn I planted long ago. I wouldn't expose him unless absolutely necessary, and that's what I promised him. Even Uncle Luo and the other leaders didn't know. There were so many people around at the time, how could I explain it? Besides, I suspected there were spies in the stronghold, so I should have been even more cautious!"
Li Ruo was taken aback. "Yes, you acted so well, you kept it a secret perfectly." She shook off his arm and said expressionlessly, "The Boss is badly injured, you should rest well."
After saying that, he quickly turned around, went out to open the door, and a bunch of heads crashed in from outside.
