While Grandma Li and her family were busy inside the house, only two large dogs and six wolf cubs whimpered and gathered around in the yard.
She smiled and said to Liao Fusheng, "Close your eyes first."
Liao Fusheng closed his eyes as instructed.
"Woof woof woof!" the two big dogs barked.
"Awooooo!" The six little wolves seemed to be either frightened or excited.
"You can open your eyes now," Li Ruo said.
Liao Fusheng was so startled when he saw it that he almost fell on the dog. Then his eyes lit up. "The statue of the Heavenly Venerable Morality!"
"Surprised? Unexpected?"
Liao Fusheng looked at her as if she were Laozi, and couldn't help but blurt out, "Could it be that you are truly a fairy sent from heaven?"
Li Ruo: ...“A fairy?”
Two seconds later, she burst into laughter, "So you've always thought I was a fairy, that's why you've been so protective of me? That's why you haven't asked me anything?"
Oh no, what kind of bad influence has this had on that child?
Liao Fusheng blushed slightly. "Aren't you one?"
“Of course not,” Li Ruo said seriously. “I am made of flesh and blood, I can get sick and injured, and I have no magical power to summon wind and rain.”
Liao Fusheng was a little confused. "Then how come you can conjure things up?"
Li Ruo thought for a moment, "You can think of me as having a magical artifact, but you can't see it."
Liao Fusheng sighed, "So, there are still people from beyond this world." His master's prophecy was indeed correct.
Li Ruo didn't want to discourage him too much, lest his faith be shattered and he give up such a promising career as cultivation. "These statues are for you. I have many more: Yuanshi Tianzun, Lingbao Tianzun, Jade Emperor, Ziwei Emperor, Qinghua Emperor, Changsheng Emperor, and so on. You know feng shui, so we can find a place to build a Taoist temple and enshrine them. We'll name the temple after you, oh, your Taoist name."
Liao Fusheng: "!!!"
"Everyone should have dreams, what if they come true?"
Liao Fusheng's gaze was intense, yet somewhat uneasy. "If I'm not mistaken, this Laozi came from Huaqing Temple, right? I've been there and recognize him. You should put him away first, lest the news reach the ears of the Prince of Jiangning. If he finds out you have such a magical artifact, he will do everything in his power to capture you."
Seeing his nervous yet serious expression, Li Ruo said, "Okay."
Liao Fusheng breathed a sigh of relief. "If anyone has any doubts in the future, just say that I performed the ritual."
"That won't do."
"Fine." The Taoist priest's attitude was unusually firm.
Li Ruo felt a warmth in her heart, and a gentle smile curved at the corner of her eyes.
Liao Fusheng looked at her, seemingly wanting to say something but then stopping himself.
"Just say what you have to say." Once she opened her mouth, she transformed back into that tomboyish woman.
Liao Fusheng said, "I want to move out and live with everyone else."
"Why?" Li Ruo frowned.
