Chapter 1 The Great-Grandma Returns

Chapter 1 The Great-Grandma Returns

The ancestral hall of the Shan family was filled with flickering candlelight, creating an eerie and terrifying atmosphere.

Among a row of plaques, a slender, fair hand suddenly reached out from the highest plaque and grabbed at the roast chicken on the table.

"Bang!" The ancestral hall door, which had not been opened for a long time, was kicked open.

The little hand instantly retracted, but it was clearly unwilling to give up without getting the roast chicken. It moved with lightning speed, and with a "whoosh," the roast chicken on the table disappeared instantly, leaving only an empty plate.

At the same time, Shan Xi, the eldest daughter of the Shan family, staggered over, covered in blood.

Just as she was about to step into the ancestral hall, a hidden arrow shot out from behind her with a "whoosh" and pierced her chest.

Shanxi fell heavily at the entrance of the ancestral hall, and blood instantly stained the ground red.

As Shanmingyuan approached, Shanxi raised her head in despair, her voice hoarse and strained: "Why? I am your own daughter too!"

Shan Yurou is his daughter, so why can't I be her?

Fifteen years ago, Shan Mingyuan, for his own selfish gain, switched her with Shan Yurou, his half-sister who was a fake heiress, in an attempt to have Shan Yurou inherit the Shan family and marry the crown prince.

However, when Shan Yurou turned eighteen and entered the ancestral hall to worship her ancestors, she was refused entry because her bloodline was not pure.

The family was shocked to realize the truth and quickly found the real Shanxi.

Tonight, Shan Xi stumbles upon the secret, and Shan Mingyuan and Shan Yurou, in order to protect it, actually plot to kill her.

"My biological daughter? If Father truly cared about you, he wouldn't have switched us out of pity for me." Shan Yurou said smugly, curling her hair. "Besides, if you hadn't died, how could I have married my brother, the Crown Prince?"

Shanxi was filled with resentment. Looking at the ancestral hall plaque, her eyes reddened: "Father, aren't you afraid that Mother and the ancestors of the Shan family will find out about what you've done?"

"As long as you die, they won't know!" Shan Mingyuan raised his hand viciously and slammed it down on Shanxi's face!

Shanxi closed her eyes in despair. Suddenly, a powerful suction force burst out from the ancestral hall and sucked Shanxi in.

"Who?" Shan Mingyuan's pupils shrank, and he turned to rush into the ancestral hall.

But as soon as he touched the ancestral hall door, an invisible yet powerful resistance, like an impenetrable wall, blocked his way and bounced him back violently.

Shan Yurou quickly supported him: "Father, don't worry, your arrow has already hit her heart, she can't survive!"

Shan Mingyuan breathed a sigh of relief and spat out a vicious curse: "You bitch, you can't even die in peace!"

"Father, let's go find the old master and tell him that my sister is naughty and stormed into the ancestral hall..." A smug sneer appeared in Shan Yurou's eyes.

The old master of the Shan family placed great importance on filial piety, and the Shan family ancestral hall was sacred and inviolable in his heart.

If he knew that Shanxi had barged in so rashly, he might have been so angry that he removed Shanxi from the family register!

Shanjia's backyard.

Shan Mingyuan, looking anxious, hurried after the old man: "Old man, that girl Shanxi is really not presentable!"

"Even if you're feeling really unhappy, you can't just go into the ancestral hall all the time."

“This ancestral hall is a peaceful place where our ancestors are enshrined. If she disturbs it like this and disturbs the peace of our ancestors, it would be a terrible sin that we cannot bear!”

Upon hearing this, the steward, who was supporting the old man, turned as black as the bottom of a pot: "The young lady is a useless person who can't cultivate, how can she be so ignorant? How dare she barge into that ancestral hall?"

As expected of someone found in the countryside, they have absolutely no manners!

"Grandpa, don't be angry. Sister definitely didn't mean it. It's just a pity that Father and I can't get in, so we can only disturb you in the middle of the night." Shan Yurou's voice was gentle and melodious, and her words touched the old man's heart.

"If only Shanxi were half as sensible as you," the old man sighed helplessly.

It's one thing to be unable to cultivate, but to be even more ignorant of the rules, being unfilial to one's superiors and unkind to one's inferiors, how can such a crude person shoulder great responsibilities?

Upon hearing this, Shan Mingyuan pressed his advantage, saying, "Grandpa, Xi'er is truly beyond redemption. What do you think... perhaps we should change the title of our legitimate daughter to Yu Rou?"

Upon hearing this, the old man paused in his steps.

In the past, he would have severely criticized Shan Mingyuan, but after these days of turmoil, he had lost all hope for Shanxi.

Thinking of this, the old man looked at Shan Yurou, who was respectfully supporting him.

Shan Yurou grew up in a family of kind people from a young age. She was well-educated and virtuous, proficient in music, chess, calligraphy and painting, and was a rare genius in cultivation. She became famous in the capital at the age of eighteen.

Unfortunately... he is not of good family lineage.

Thinking of the blood transfusion formula, the old man hesitated for a moment, then shook his head: "Let's discuss this again!"

Upon hearing the words "discuss again," Shan Yurou's eyes lit up, and she couldn't help but exchange a glance with Shan Mingyuan.

The fact that the old man didn't refuse outright means there's a chance!

When the old master discovered that Shanxi was dead, he had no other choice but to use a secret technique to swap her blood with Shanxi's.

At that time, she can enter the ancestral hall openly and take charge of the Shan family; then, she can use her status as the eldest daughter of the Shan family to marry the crown prince!

With a hint of joy and pride that she couldn't hide, Yu Rou's attitude became increasingly respectful: "Yu Rou will be waiting for Grandpa here."

Just as the old man was about to go in, he heard Shan Yurou say again, "Grandpa, don't be angry. My sister has just been found, so it's inevitable that she doesn't know the rules. We can teach her slowly in the future."

The old man had been hesitant, but seeing how well-behaved and sensible Shan Yu Rou was, he couldn't help but nod in approval: "Yes, you are a sensible person."

If Shanxi is truly not up to par, then let's consider a change of bloodline and let Yurou become the real Shan family young lady!

With a creak, the ancestral hall door slowly opened.

The old man was dressed in a dark robe, his figure slightly hunched but his imposing presence undiminished.

Holding a cane, he walked alone into the ancestral hall.

When he walked to the center of the ancestral hall, he saw Shanxi sitting upright in the main seat.

That main seat was always reserved for the most respected and esteemed members of the family, but now it was occupied by a junior like Shanxi. The old patriarch felt a surge of anger rise from the bottom of his heart and rush to his head.

"Insolence!" The old man's eyes widened in anger, and he slammed his cane on the ground. "Who allowed you to sit there! Just as your father said, you're no good!"

She dared to disrespect even her ancestors; Shanxi is utterly ruined!

As soon as he finished speaking, Shanxi, who was sitting in the main seat, slowly raised his head.

Her brows and eyes were like frost, exuding a chilling coldness that seemed to penetrate one's soul, sending shivers down one's spine.

Her gaze, sharp as a blade, shot straight at the old man, without the slightest fear or hesitation, radiating an unassailable aura.

The old man paused slightly, his steps unconsciously halting, and the cane in his hand trembled slightly.

He seemed to have never expected that his granddaughter, whom he had once regarded as a good-for-nothing, would have such a sharp and resolute look in her eyes.

“If you were even half as good as Yu Rou, I…” The old man was about to reprimand her when Shanxi’s voice rang out. Unlike his usual timidity, it carried the cold and imposing aura of a superior: “Little Yellow Flower, you have overstepped your bounds.”

The phrase "little yellow flower" struck the old man like a thunderbolt!
