Chapter 11 The Cunning Seventh Prince
Gan Dian.
The atmosphere was heavy.
The emperor looked at the furious retired emperor, then at the seventh prince leisurely sipping tea, and felt a pang of unease.
After standing for two hours, the emperor's legs were aching terribly. He tried to quietly move to a chair, but the retired emperor's face darkened, and he slammed his hand on the table, his voice booming: "Insolence! When did I grant you permission to sit?"
The emperor's body trembled, and he quickly straightened his back and stood upright.
The Seventh Prince, holding a teacup, watched this scene with a smirk on his face.
emperor:"……"
"Father, please calm down. I was only thinking of the Seventh Prince. He's not young anymore, it's time for him to settle down and start a family," the Emperor explained with a helpless expression.
Upon hearing this, the retired emperor sneered repeatedly: "Do you think I don't know what's going on in your mind? Didn't I tell you before not to provoke him? Why didn't you listen? What? Now my words have no effect?"
After the retired emperor finished speaking, he slammed his fist on the table again, making a terrifying sound.
The emperor trembled, fell completely silent, and lowered his head tremblingly, not daring to breathe.
He never expected that simply arranging a marriage for his seventh son would alarm the retired emperor who was in seclusion for cultivation.
After the Emperor Emeritus finished his reprimand, he secretly glanced at the Seventh Prince, only to see the latter leisurely and elegantly wiping his teacup.
Seeing that the Seventh Prince remained silent, the Emperor Emeritus swallowed hard, feeling inexplicably flustered. He could only continue to berate him: "The Crown Prince doesn't want him, so you're betrothing him to the Seventh Prince? What do you take the Seventh Prince for? Someone who picks up the trash your son doesn't want?"
The emperor pursed his lips and retorted in a low voice, "Isn't that all because you bestowed the marriage upon us..."
"I'm not deaf, I can hear you!" The Emperor Emeritus glared at him with exasperation. "Do you know how much effort I went through to secure this marriage?"
"A good-for-nothing who's good for nothing but causing trouble!"
"If he hadn't been uninterested in the throne, would you have been sitting in this position?"
The emperor, his head throbbing from being poked, said with a wronged expression, "I will draft an edict right now and have it withdrawn!"
"You haven't retreated yet?" The Emperor Emeritus's pupils shrank, his face filled with astonishment, as if he couldn't believe that his son could be so stupid.
The emperor shuddered and hurriedly shouted, "Guards, immediately withdraw the imperial edict from Shanfu!"
Upon hearing this, the Seventh Prince, who had remained silent until now, finally made a move.
He raised his hand and stopped the eunuch who had gone to recall the imperial edict, saying in a leisurely tone: "You think you can get away with it by withdrawing the imperial edict?"
"Then what else do you want?" the emperor retorted angrily.
With a sharp "smack!", the emperor received a solid slap on the back of the head.
"Shut up! Isn't this all your doing!" The retired emperor glared fiercely at the emperor, then looked at the seventh prince with a fawning smile, "So what do you mean?"
The Seventh Prince's lips curled slightly upward, and his gaze leisurely swept over the Emperor: "The Crown Prince dared to plot against me, I will make him pay the price!"
"What price?" The emperor's heart skipped a beat.
"What do you care about the price? Just agree to it." The retired emperor glared angrily at the emperor.
The emperor was on the verge of tears, thinking: "Does he want the throne, and I have to give it to him too?"
The retired emperor knew what the emperor was thinking with just a glance, and glared at him with disdain: "Look at your incompetence. If he wanted to be emperor, would you even have a chance?"
emperor:"……"
That's like killing someone by breaking their spirit!
"What do you want? As long as the Emperor can do it, I'll agree on his behalf!" the retired Emperor said in a magnanimous tone.
As long as he calms down, nothing else matters!
Upon hearing this, the emperor nearly collapsed from exhaustion.
Could it be that if Seventh Brother wants to kill me, you'd agree to it?
Looking at the Emperor Emeritus's magnanimous appearance, the Emperor had no doubt that if the Seventh Prince wanted his life, his father would truly give it to him!
"No need to be nervous." The Seventh Prince let out a low and alluring chuckle, his tone gentle and pleasant, like a spring breeze. "The Crown Prince plotted against me like this, and I only asked him to do me a small favor."
The smile in those eyes made the emperor shudder.
That smile has a sinister feel to it, making you feel uneasy.
Meanwhile, the philanthropist.
Shanxi entered the ancestral hall with ease, followed closely by the old master. After reciting a mantra, Old Master Chen also went in.
Seeing that an outsider like Old Master Chen had actually entered the ancestral hall, Shan Mingyuan's pupils widened, and he hurriedly grabbed Shanxiong, who was about to go in: "Second Uncle, how can Old Master Chen enter our Shan family ancestral hall?"
Shanxiong was speechless at Shanmingyuan's words, "our Shan family ancestral hall." He thought to himself, "You're just a son-in-law, do you really think you're a member of the Shan family?"
"The steward of the Shan family has special privileges, but only with the order of the head of the family. What? You can't get in?" Shan Xiong's left corner of his mouth turned up slightly, full of sarcasm.
A son-in-law is a son-in-law. He's been living in the family for decades, but he still can't enter the ancestral hall.
Shan Xiong sneered disdainfully, then swaggered in right in front of Shan Mingyuan.
"Damn it, even the steward can come in, but we can't!" Shan Yurou stared at the ancestral hall with a sinister look in her eyes, as if she could kill someone!
Shan Mingyuan was also filled with resentment, gritting his teeth as he said, "That old bastard said that only those with the Shan family bloodline can enter, but clearly, if he allows it, we can enter too!"
Shan Mingyuan is going crazy!
He felt like he had been played for a fool!
If he had known that anyone not of good blood could enter, he wouldn't have exposed Yu Rou, and that rebellious daughter wouldn't have been found!
Now it's too late to say anything!
Inside the ancestral hall, Shanxi sat calmly in the main seat, casually playing with a dragon whip in his hand.
Old Master Chen stood behind her with his back ramrod straight, a slight smile playing on his lips, a smug expression on his face.
"You piece of trash, what are you trying to do now?" Shanxiong was furious when he saw Shanxi actually sitting in the main seat.
She really is a wild country girl, she doesn't know any manners at all!
Is that a seat she can sit in?
"Shut up!" Old Master Chen narrowed his eyes and coldly reprimanded, "Miss hasn't spoken yet, what right do you have to interrupt!"
Suddenly confronted with a fierce look, Shanxiong thought: "???"
no!
Grandpa Chen, whose side are you on?
I gave you a thousand-year-old ginseng!
Why are you taking this girl's side?
Fearing that Old Master Chen might misunderstand, Shanxiong cautiously moved closer to him and tried to wink at him: "Old Master Chen, it's me, Shanxiong, the one who brought you the thousand-year-old ginseng."
Old Master Chen frowned, his face full of disdain: "You, a descendant of a respectable family, send me ginseng? Are you blind? Did you cry at the wrong grave?"
