Discovering that your blind date is your mortal enemy

Discovering that your blind date is your mortal enemy

General Manager's Office on the 32nd Floor

Sunlight streamed through the glass and onto the desk. A woman sat directly in front of her, beautiful and dressed in a black, white, and gray office suit. Her hands were fair and smooth, gleaming healthily in the sunlight. With each movement, the taut muscles beneath her shirt were subtly visible, indicating regular exercise. Her delicate face was framed by her eyes closed, leaning against the back of her chair as if resting. The light quietly crept onto her face, making her appear like a goddess descending to earth.

Leaning back in your chair, you rub your nose to relieve the discomfort. A week has passed since that night, but you still think about Chen Peiyuan in front of the elevator from time to time. Thinking about it carefully, it doesn't seem like an illusion; you really saw him. The more you try to figure it out, the more frustrated you feel, unable to find an answer.

"Mr. Chen, Mr. Li from Xincheng Pharmaceutical has arrived. I greeted him and led him to the small conference room." The assistant knocked on the door.

"Okay, I understand."

Forget it, I'll think about it for now.

We met again.

At the restaurant entrance, you and Chen Peiyuan stood in front of the door at the same time. The receptionist stood opposite you, smiling awkwardly, unsure of who to welcome in first. You didn't want to go in with him, so you stood still, wanting him to go in first, but he also stood still.

Seeing that he didn't move, you decided to take the first step. As soon as you took one step, he followed closely with another step. When you took two steps and stopped, he stopped as well. You immediately realized that this person was doing it on purpose.

You looked at him and said, "Mr. Chen, what's wrong? Why don't you go in first?"

Chen Peiyuan greeted him with a smile, "Oh, what a coincidence, Mr. Chen, you're here to eat too."

You frown at him, thinking, "What's wrong with that smiling tiger now?"

You smiled dismissively and nodded, "Yeah, I heard this place has really good food, so I thought I'd come and try it today. I didn't expect to be so late and still not be able to get in. I don't know what's wrong."

Chen Peiyuan, with his elegant demeanor, stepped to the side, gesturing with his hands in welcome, and said with a smile, "Yes, Mr. Chen, it's not easy to find a seat if you arrive late. I'm a gentleman, so ladies go first. Please, Mr. Chen."

Looking at his arrogant expression makes you so angry you want to tear his face off and see if there's another face underneath, otherwise how could he be so shameless?

You managed to utter a curt "Mr. Chen, you have such a good manners," then gave a heavy snort and stomped inside in your high heels. As you passed the ever-smiling receptionist, don't think you didn't see her secretly laughing at you; you're just too magnanimous to hold a grudge.

The lobby was resplendent with gold, and in the center, a waiter in a tuxedo played the piano. To the soothing music, the waiter led you to the second floor, where there were semi-open private rooms. Your room was located on the left rear of the second floor, offering both a view and privacy, which helped you relax a bit. You liked this safe and secure environment.

Next, you prepare to wait for your blind date.

Yes, my blind date, you didn't come to this restaurant for no reason. Your dear mother arranged a blind date dinner for you, and you agreed to come after receiving the payment you wanted.

You thought you could just do a shoddy job and get away with it, since you were in charge of whether it succeeded or not.

You arrived on time, but your blind date hadn't shown up yet, which made you both unhappy and happy. Punctuality is the most basic courtesy for a stranger. You were unhappy that he wasn't on time, but happy that he wasn't on time. You couldn't help but laugh when you thought about having an excuse to refuse your blind date to your mother. Just then, you heard a sound from across the street. He had arrived.

You straighten your posture, ready to speak first and subdue him. But all those thoughts vanish the moment you see him.

When everyone finally sat down, you were dumbfounded.

What, it could be Chen Peiyuan?

"You, you, you're not here for a blind date, are you?"

Undeterred, you leaned slightly to look behind him and saw that there was no other man standing there besides the waiter.

Any lingering hope died after Chen Peiyuan nodded with a smile.

You sat dejectedly in your seat; your plans had changed, and you'd run into a cunning old fox.

What a small world!

This blind date is doomed to fail; it won't meet my mother's expectations!
