Chapter 309 Two Oxen Slay the King of Changguo!

Lord Changguo and his guards suddenly stopped in their tracks. The black-armored cavalry that had suddenly appeared in front of them were like fierce tigers blocking their way, resolutely cutting off their retreat.

Behind Erniu, soldiers clad in heavy black armor appeared like ghosts from the night, their swords flashing coldly as they advanced directly towards them.

"Ambush... Commander of the Black Dragon Armored Army, Erniu?!" Changguo Jun's pupils suddenly contracted, and he involuntarily let out a cry of surprise.

Nowadays, news about the Black Dragon Armored Army is no longer a secret. One of its leaders, Erniu, is known for his fierce and violent nature. He has massacred countless cities and is a bloodthirsty man.

Erniu looked at the remnants of the Yan army who were about to be devoured with a cold smile, his gaze as sharp as a knife. "Lord Changguo, it's dark and the road is slippery. Why don't you stay here?"

Changguo Jun's face turned pale, a chill running through him, but he quickly regained his composure, suppressing his fear. He gripped his longsword tightly, his voice icy: "No more than a hundred men, kill them!"

However, as soon as the order was given, Erniu rode his horse at full gallop forward, and with a flash of his blade, he swept across the enemy.

With a "thud," one of the accompanying guards was severed from his body like a kite with a broken string, blood splattering everywhere.

"Quickly!" Lord Changguo raised his sword to block a long blade slashing at him from a Black Dragon Armored Army soldier. The terrifying force caused his hand to split open. He turned around in a panic and shouted to his personal guards, "Take me away!"

Seeing the Black Dragon Armored Army slaughtering people like dogs, Lord Changguo knew that if he didn't retreat immediately, even his last chance of survival would be cut off. He spurred his warhorse to accelerate, bypassing the two sides locked in fierce combat, and charged into the mountains.

The mountains and forests are just a stone's throw away. Once inside the dense forest, the chances of escape will greatly increase under the cover of night.

"You think you can escape?" Erniu sneered, raised his long sword and aimed it at Changguo Jun's back, then threw the sword away with all his might.

Just as Lord Changguo was about to disappear into the woods, a sharp, piercing sound came from behind.

"This is bad!" Lord Changguo's face darkened, his heart pounded, and the hairs on his body stood on end. He tried to turn around and avoid it, but it was too late.

The long sword pierced straight into Changguo Jun's back, the bloody tip protruding from his heart. Changguo Jun stared in astonishment at the sword tip in his chest, dark red blood immediately spilling from the corner of his mouth.

Changguo Jun's body jolted violently; the excruciating pain from the longsword nearly caused him to lose control of his body. The blade pierced his back, and blood gushed out instantly, staining his chest robes crimson.

The intense, piercing pain almost made it hard for him to breathe. His head spun, and his legs instantly lost their support. He collapsed onto his warhorse, which neighed anxiously, as if sensing its master's impending demise.

"Lord Changguo!" A guard rushed forward urgently, reaching out to support him, but seeing the bloodstains on his chest and his pale face, his heart turned cold.

Despite the excruciating pain, Lord Changguo remained calm in this critical moment, his eyes showing no sign of panic. He gripped the saddle firmly, raised his trembling right hand, and pointed towards the woods ahead: "Quick...quickly into the woods..."

However, the sound was almost drowned out, and in this state of extreme pain and helplessness, his consciousness gradually blurred.

Erniu's cold laughter came from behind, like the whisper of death: "Changguo Jun, you are destined not to escape today."

He rode slowly closer, his eyes flashing with cold light, as if preparing to deliver another blow to this powerless pillar of the Yan state.

"You're courting death!" Suddenly, a furious roar came from behind, followed by the sound of hooves from a large group of Yan cavalry. They rushed over like the wind, swords drawn, and charged straight at the Black Dragon Armored Army.

Erniu raised an eyebrow and sneered, seemingly unafraid of the arrival of reinforcements. He waved his hand, directing the soldiers behind him to form two formations to meet the sudden Yan army reinforcements.

"Lord Changguo, you must leave quickly!" A guard, pale-faced, anxiously grabbed the reins of Lord Changguo's horse. "You are seriously injured. We will protect you as you retreat!"

Changguo Jun struggled to lift his eyelids, looking at the loyal soldiers before him with deep helplessness in his eyes. He wanted to say something, but could only let out a low cough.

"Quickly take Lord Changguo away!" A Yan army lieutenant general who had broken out of the city was extremely anxious. He drew his sword and charged straight at the Black Dragon Armored Army, attempting to cross the defense line to rescue Lord Changguo.

Despite being outnumbered, the Black Dragon Armored Army remained calm and composed in the face of the Yan army forced into a corner. Over a hundred men held off the thousands of Yan soldiers, refusing to yield an inch.

"Don't worry about me...you...retreat quickly!" Changguo Jun gasped for breath, as if in a final burst of energy, roaring with his last ounce of strength, "Quickly retreat to the mountains and forests, survive!"

He knew that there was no chance of turning the tide in this battle. His only hope was to save his life, minimize casualties, and wait for the heavy troops in Raocheng to join him. Perhaps then there would still be a sliver of a chance to retreat from Qin.

The lieutenant's eyes were bloodshot, and it was clear that Lord Changguo was seriously wounded and had no hope of survival. For the sake of his soldiers and the safety of the country, he could only say in a resentful voice, "Don't linger in battle, retreat!"

Although the hundred or so Black Dragon Armored Soldiers were invincible, if the Yan army was determined to escape, they would find it difficult to stop them all and could only try their best to kill the Yan soldiers.

Erniu stared expressionlessly at the dying Changguo King, then suddenly slapped his warhorse on the rump. The horse, in pain, galloped away and caught up with Changguo King's horse in a short while.

"Prepare to die!"

Changguo Jun's personal guards would not stand idly by. In an instant, more than ten sharp blades slashed at Erniu like a whirlwind, attempting to stop him.

"clang!!"

Erniu was unarmed, with his battle sword still in Changguo Jun's possession. He had no choice but to raise his arms and use his armor to defend himself. He then seized the opportunity to grab a long sword, and even though the sharp blade cut his palm, he did not hesitate to take the sword away.

"I'll take your head. I can use it to buy some wine!" Erniu sneered. His longsword streaked across the sky like a comet, and in the blink of an eye, he had taken the lives of four or five soldiers.

The warhorse continued its mad gallop, getting closer and closer to Changguo Jun. The sinister smile on Erniu's face slowly magnified in Changguo Jun's eyes, and his vision suddenly blurred before plunging him into darkness.

Blood gushed from the headless corpse like a pillar, and Erniu caught the head of Lord Changguo, whose eyes were still open. "Lord Changguo is dead!"

These words were like a thunderclap, startling the warhorses and causing panic among the soldiers. Many Yan soldiers were even so frightened that they fell off their horses.

"Hahahaha, kill—!"

Seeing this, Erniu laughed wildly, threw Changguo Jun's head into the side bag of his warhorse, took the sword from Changguo Jun's body, turned his horse around and charged straight at the Yan army.
