Chapter 189, /.

Ying Gao had just stepped into the garden when he bumped into Bai Xixue.

He frowned. "It's so windy, why did you come out?"

Bai Xixue, dressed in a purple silk dress, looked at him timidly, "I came out to see you since you haven't returned for a long time."

That pitiful look, filled with worry for him, dispelled most of Ying Gao's resentment.

He suppressed his emotions and patiently said to her, "I'm fine. It's just that my father wants to see me about something. You haven't fully recovered from your cold yet, so you should stay indoors as much as possible."

The girl's eyes flickered slightly. "Your Majesty? It really is because of me, isn't it? I knew I shouldn't have come back with you. I don't know the rules and I come from a humble background. It's never good for you to stay by your side. Maybe I should leave the palace?"

The girl's eyes were red and she looked at him pitifully.

Ying Gao was somewhat displeased. "Xi Xue, if you say that, I will feel guilty. Even a drop of kindness deserves a spring of gratitude, let alone a life-saving grace. If you leave the palace now, you will truly put me in an unrighteous and immoral position."

"As for Father, he only wanted to discuss other matters with me. It has nothing to do with you, so don't overthink it."

Bai Xixue looked at him with considerable doubt, "Really? But I don't want to be a burden to you."

Ying Gao looked at her with a firm gaze, "No, you are the one I brought back. Just live a good life in the palace. As for the rest, I'll take care of it."

The girl lowered her eyes and said in a weak voice, "Thank you."

A gust of wind blew by, causing the girl to stumble and fall forward like a butterfly, landing in Ying Gao's arms.

Feeling the delicate woman in his arms and smelling her unique fragrance, Ying Gao was momentarily lost in thought.

Bai Xixue realized what was happening and quickly crawled out of Ying Gao's arms, awkwardly straightening her clothes. "I'm sorry, I feel a little dizzy."

Ying Gao looked away, suppressing the pounding in his heart. "It's alright. If you're not feeling well, don't come out. I'll take you home."

The girl gave a soft "hmm," and the two walked into the hall.

They walked on in silence.

As they reached the room door, Ying Gao stopped. "If you're not feeling well, just rest. Don't go out and wander around."

He didn't plan to go in; if a man and a woman were alone in a room, gossip would inevitably circulate.

The girl looked up at him, her eyes so tender they seemed to overflow with tears. "Okay."

Ying Gao turned to leave, but before he had taken two steps, a girl screamed.

He rushed into the room and saw the girl sitting on the floor, pulling her dress tightly with both hands.

The purple dress had slipped down at some point, revealing the girl's fair and delicate shoulders.

Ying Gao quickly looked away. "What's wrong?"

The girl's voice was soft, "I accidentally stepped on my skirt and slipped."

"Close the door first, someone passing by will see it."

Ying Gao turned and closed the door, but seemed somewhat at a loss. "What do we do now?"

The girl lowered her head and said, "I sprained my ankle. Can you carry me to the bed?"

Ying Gao hesitated for a moment, "Me?"

He was a little nervous. Now, not only were they alone together, but Bai Xixue was also practically naked. Getting any closer to her would be really inappropriate for a woman.

Bai Xixue's voice was pitiful, "I'm still sick, do you expect me to kneel like this?"

Ying Gao hesitated for a moment, then stepped forward and picked up the girl.

The girl was very light and her body was soft, like a delicate cat.

She lowered her head, her fair face flushed crimson.

He placed the girl on the bed, and she unfolded like a blooming flower, her jade arms outstretched, revealing a patch of white skin.

Ying Gao looked away and got up to leave, but the girl grabbed his neck.

The girl's cheeks flushed, and she looked at him tenderly, "Young master, don't you have any feelings for me at all?"

Looking at the soft, fragrant woman, Ying Gao swallowed hard. "This is against etiquette."

The girl hooked her arms around his neck, her eyes hazy, "Since you like me, then take me. I believe you will take responsibility for me."

“We are sworn brothers, I trust you, young master.”

As she spoke, she brought her cheek closer to Ying Gao, her lips almost touching his.

Just then, Ying Gao suddenly pushed her away and stood up, "No! We have no relationship, we can't do this!"

Bai Xixue looked resentful and said in a coquettish voice, "Young Master and I are sworn brothers, there's no need for you to care about these things."

Ying Gao hurriedly fled, saying, "Miss Bai, you should rest well first. I have things to take care of. Farewell."

"Young Master!" She wanted to stop him, but Ying Gao was determined to leave, and his figure disappeared in the blink of an eye.

Bai Xixue sat up, straightened her slipped dress, and a cold glint appeared in her eyes. "Boring man, you're just ungrateful!"

······

Ying Gao hurried along the garden path.

He had focused on both academics and martial arts since childhood and had never heard of matters between men and women. Today, he was surprised to encounter such a grand scene, and his heart began to pound wildly.

He took a few deep breaths and sat down in the garden. The gentle breeze, the blooming flowers, and the lush green trees finally calmed him down.

"It seems that my mind is not cultivated enough."

Ying Gao sighed to himself.

Just then, a commotion broke out.

"I'll say it one last time, hand over the stuff!"

The obese boy, who looked to be about fifteen or sixteen years old, was staring fiercely at Xiao Huhai; he was none other than the Eighth Prince.

Little Hu Hai shielded the wind chimes behind his back and said timidly, "These belong to my younger brother."

The Eighth Young Master sneered, "You're an orphan, where would you get a younger brother?"

He stepped forward and kicked Xiao Huhai, sending him sprawling to the ground, his face hitting the ground hard.

Even so, he still held the wind chime with both hands to prevent it from being broken.

Seeing the Eighth Prince's cruelty, the slightly shorter boy beside him tugged at him and whispered, "Is this alright?"
