Mount Taibai.
Inside the temple, Jin Yan personally laid out various offerings.
Most of them are sweet-tasting foods, and some are toys for children.
Looking at the offerings, Iron Hammer, who was waiting nearby, frowned. "Are these things really useful?"
Others offered chicken, duck, fish, and meat, along with incense, showing their utmost sincerity.
But the fact that Jin Yan was using these strange things naturally left him somewhat bewildered.
After placing the offerings, Jin Yan walked to Zhao's side, put his hands together, and began to pray devoutly.
Zhao was also extremely devout, sincerely praying, hoping to have a child.
Seeing the two of them like this, Iron Hammer's eyes turned slightly cold. "You went to all this trouble just for something so pointless?"
In his view, praying to the gods for children is utter nonsense.
After all, having children is a matter for the two of them. Now that they don't have children, putting their hopes on the gods is undoubtedly self-deception.
They should blame themselves for not trying hard enough, otherwise how come they don't have children?
Lady Zhao kowtowed devoutly, "Please grant me offspring. I am willing to serve you for eternity, preparing all the offerings you like, and never missing any festivals or holidays."
Jin Yan also kowtowed devoutly, saying, "My wife is a kind person who has accumulated countless good deeds throughout her life. She deserves to be rewarded. She has no desires except for having a child. If you can grant her this wish, I will worship you for eternity."
As Jin Yan finished bowing, the statue that looked like a child suddenly shone with golden light, and endless radiance fell like golden rain upon the Zhao family.
The group was taken aback upon seeing this.
Immediately, as if realizing something, Zhao's expression lit up with joy. "The gods have responded! Thank you! Thank you!"
She kept bowing, her eyes filled with tears of emotion.
Jin Yan also kowtowed, deeply moved.
They had always longed for a child, and now that the gods had responded, they finally saw hope and were naturally overjoyed.
Upon seeing this, Iron Hammer was dumbfounded. "This works?"
They initially thought the two were just deceiving themselves, but to their surprise, these strange offerings and their devout worship actually received a response from the gods.
His gaze fell on the altar. "No, I have to write these things down too."
He would not let such an effective deity slip by; he would write it down, as it would bring him immense benefits whether he sold it later or used it himself.
After the worship ceremony, Jin Yan led Zhao out of the temple. Suddenly, a clap of thunder sounded in the sky, and a torrential downpour began without warning.
Seeing this, Jin Yan frowned slightly. "Why don't we wait a bit before we leave, so that everyone doesn't catch a cold?"
The weather wasn't particularly cold, but the rain made it feel rather chilly. If you forced yourself to continue your journey and got caught in the rain, the chances of getting sick would be extremely high.
Moreover, with Zhao Shi present, it would be easier for her to fall ill.
Upon hearing this, Iron Hammer stepped forward and said, "We've already wasted a lot of time taking this detour. If we wait for the rain to stop and don't proceed as planned, the losses we suffer will be even greater."
Jin Yan frowned, his expression quite solemn.
Seeing this, Zhao said, "It's alright, but we can't delay the journey too much."
Jin Yan had already wasted a lot of time getting to the temple, and she didn't want to waste any more time on something as trivial as avoiding the rain.
After hesitating for a moment, Jin Yan said, "Alright, let's go."
He held an umbrella over Zhao, and the two walked slowly toward the carriage.
Large raindrops pounded roughly on the carriage, making a "thump-thump" sound.
Despite the extremely bad weather, Zhao was in a good mood, thinking, "It seems this time it really will work out."
She had witnessed the miracle just now and knew that the matter was likely settled.
Jin Yan was also in a good mood, looking at her tenderly, "When we get there, we need to work even harder."
Upon hearing this, Zhao's cheeks flushed slightly, and she lowered her head.
Just then, the carriage suddenly stopped, and Jin Yan quickly helped Zhao Shi up.
He asked with a puzzled look, "What's wrong?"
The sound of a hammer came from outside, "Master, you've come out to take a look?"
Jin Yan frowned, lifted the curtain and stepped out of the carriage, then froze in surprise.
A row of large stones was neatly arranged on the road ahead, blocking the way.
Iron Hammer frowned. "How come there are stones on a perfectly good road?"
Jin Yan's expression changed drastically when he saw the neatly arranged stones. He shouted, "Not good! Turn the car around and leave immediately!"
Having been in business for many years, he had encountered many things. The fact that such a wide road was blocked by stones was clearly intentional.
And since it happened to be blocking their only way, he immediately realized something was wrong.
Before the words were even finished and the convoy could react, the ground suddenly began to tremble, and a rumbling sound could be heard from behind, as if some huge object was approaching.
Jin Yan looked toward the source of the sound, and his expression changed instantly. He saw a group of burly men carrying swords rushing toward him with fierce eyes.
Jin Yan's eyes darkened. "We've been targeted by thieves! Everyone, be on guard!"
At his command, the guards on the outer perimeter drew their swords, but instead of aiming them at the bandits, they turned around and surrounded Jin Yan.
Jin Yan stared at the group of guards in shock. "What are you doing?"
"Just surrender obediently, sir, so that the lady can suffer less."
Jin Yan turned his head and saw Tie Chui staring at him with a cold expression.
His eyes widened as he stared at the hammer. "Did you do this?"
Iron Hammer looked at him and said, "You can't blame me for this. It's all because you're too rich and your wife is so beautiful."
Upon hearing the commotion, the bodyguards around the carriage drew their longswords and aimed them at the rebels on the periphery.
They were personally selected by Jin Yan, had followed him for many years, and were absolutely loyal; they would never betray him.
