"No circulation?"
Inside the hall, Ying Zheng put down the memorial and his gaze fell heavily on Wang Jian.
Wang Jian cupped his hands and said, “This matter is of great importance. This old minister led his trusted confidants to investigate carefully. No trace of this millet was found in the area where Zhang Heng was located.”
Zhang Heng was the one who presented the medicine this time.
Ying Zheng's eyes flickered slightly. "As a millet grower, is it reasonable that he would have such a miraculous potion but not use it at all?"
Wang Jian frowned. "This old minister also finds it strange. Such a miraculous potion must be incredibly tempting to a millet merchant!"
"After all, this thing can increase millet production by thousands or even tens of thousands of times. He should have used it long ago. I don't know why there is no such millet over there."
Even though Wang Jian was a military general, he understood how much this medicine could help a millet merchant.
As long as he uses this stuff, his millet reserves are practically inexhaustible; he can have as much as he wants.
This means endless wealth, which should be an irresistible temptation for a businessman.
But he didn't use the potion, which is puzzling.
Ying Zheng's eyes darkened slightly. "It seems this thing truly holds a hidden world within!"
······
Gai Nie carried a lunchbox to the top of the mountain and saw Xiao Huhai practicing chopping motions with a wooden stick, not stopping even though he was covered in sweat.
This level of achievement made him feel quite gratified.
He stepped forward and said, "Let's eat first."
On the grass, Xiao Huhai was eating, while Gai Nie sat beside him drinking wine.
There's very little of the Daughter's Red wine left, but thankfully the Manchuntang restaurant hasn't been touched yet.
He took a few sips of wine, then turned to look at Xiao Huhai, "How has the training been these past few days?"
Little Hu Hai shoveled rice into his mouth, saying, "It's a bit tiring."
For almost half a month, Gai Nie has only made him practice one move every day: slashing.
Gai Nie was quite satisfied. "I thought you would find this one move boring and lazy, but it seems that's not the case."
Xiao Huhai's eyes were calm. "Master must have his reasons for asking me to do this."
Xiao Huhai had complete faith in Gai Nie's abilities.
Not only because he was a famous swordsman, but also because his younger brother had found him a master.
Gai Nie looked at him and said, "Judging from your actions just now, perhaps we should move on to the next step."
Xiao Huhai's expression brightened slightly. "The next step?"
Gai Nie took out a tree branch about the thickness of a little finger, "From now on, this will be your weapon."
Xiao Huhai took the branch, looking somewhat puzzled.
Gai Nie pointed to a spot not far away and said, "For the next two months, all you need to do is use this to cut the bamboo over there."
Little Hu Hai looked up and saw a bamboo grove standing there, its leaves swaying in the wind.
The bamboo wasn't thick, but it was about the size of his arm.
Xiao Huhai's gaze was strange. "Use this?"
Bamboo is inherently very resilient; even with a sharp sword, it needs to be quite sharp to cut it in one blow.
The twig in his hand was so thin and had very poor toughness.
Gai Nie's gaze was indifferent. "To learn swordsmanship, one must first understand its meaning. If one only knows how to use brute force to slash, then one's swordsmanship will always be limited."
He looked at Xiao Huhai and said, "You must let the weapon in your hand feel your will and become one with you. Only then can it be indestructible and unstoppable!"
Little Hu Hai lowered his head, looking at the branch in his hand, "Can you sense my will?"
Gai Nie tilted his head back and took a sip of wine. "Didn't you want to protect someone important to you?"
Xiao Huhai's gaze hardened, and he gripped the branch in his hand tightly.
Gai Nie looked into the distance and said, "The power required to completely protect someone important is unimaginable."
After all, the world is vast and there are countless powerful individuals.
"To obtain that power, one would need to accomplish almost all of the impossible things."
Just like you, with your small body, reached the top of the mountain all by yourself.
"But you are someone who has created miracles, so there is hope for everything."
After saying this, Gai Nie put away the lunchbox, got up and left.
Little Hu Hai stared blankly at Gai Nie's retreating figure, his ink-black hair dancing in the wind.
······
Inside the hall, a middle-aged man was brought in by Wang Jian.
He was dressed in a black robe, slightly overweight, with a large belly; he was Zhang Heng, the millet merchant.
Upon seeing the man seated above, clad in a black bird robe, Zhang Heng quickly cupped his hands in greeting, "This humble servant greets Your Majesty!"
Ying Zheng's gaze fell on the memorial. "Get up."
"Thank you, Your Majesty!" Zhang Heng said, then stood up.
Ying Zheng didn't speak again, and Zhang Heng didn't dare to speak rashly either, standing still and waiting.
The hall fell into complete silence; you could hear a pin drop.
Zhang Heng was extremely nervous, beads of sweat appeared on his forehead, and he stood there at a loss.
After a long pause, Ying Zheng's voice finally rang out, "Recently, I discovered something interesting."
Zhang Heng listened but didn't dare to reply.
Ying Zheng continued, "A jewelry merchant obtained a magical artifact that allowed his jewelry to grow infinitely and be inexhaustible."
The story sounded somewhat familiar, and Zhang Heng frowned deeply.
"With this magic weapon, he could have used it to produce an unlimited amount of jewelry, then sold it to make a fortune and become the richest man in the area. For a merchant, this should be an irresistible temptation."
"But he chose to give the magic weapon to someone else, and never even used it."
Zhang Heng's brows furrowed even more deeply, and beads of sweat on his forehead had gathered to the size of grains, dripping down his cheeks.
Ying Zheng suddenly put down the memorial and looked at Zhang Heng. "This matter has puzzled me greatly. As a fellow merchant, what do you think his motives are?"
