"Oh no! The young master has disappeared!"
Before dawn, the Xiongnu general was awakened by a noise.
He suddenly stood up and walked towards the noisy crowd, but then he was stunned.
The large tree where Fusu should have been sitting was now empty.
The Xiongnu general's face darkened, and he looked coldly at the Xiongnu soldiers on guard. "What's going on?"
The Xiongnu soldier lowered his head and hurriedly said, "I was so tired, I slept so soundly, and somehow, I just disappeared..."
Before he could finish speaking, the Xiongnu general had already slashed with his sword, the sharp blade instantly slicing across the Xiongnu soldier's neck.
As blood spurted out, the Hun soldier fell to the ground, his blood staining the earth red.
This cruel scene frightened many villagers into backing away.
Seeing this, the old village chief stepped forward, stared at the Xiongnu general, and said, "We have already given you the man as agreed. Now that he has escaped, it is your responsibility!"
The Xiongnu general stared at him and said, "Check if any of the villagers who accompanied us are missing."
The old village chief gave Zhang Kui a look, and Zhang Kui went to investigate the people.
Soon, he returned to the old village chief's side. "Village chief, Xiaoya is also missing."
The Xiongnu general's eyes flickered slightly. "Who is she?"
The old village chief frowned. "The girl who supported the young master yesterday."
He was also somewhat worried that if the two of them really escaped, the fact that the villagers had handed Fusu over to the Xiongnu would likely be exposed.
If the Qin Dynasty were to pursue the matter, their situation would be extremely dangerous.
After pondering for a moment, the old village chief looked at the Xiongnu general and said, "Please be sure to bring them back! If possible, kill that girl!"
Upon hearing this, Zhang Kui frowned. "Isn't this a bit too much?"
The old village chief turned and glared at him, his eyes cold and piercing. "If the young master escapes, we will all die! Yet even so, she still helped him escape. Shouldn't she be killed?"
The middle-aged man who was the first to stand up and demand the handover of Fusu said, "Yes, keeping this kind of person around will only cause trouble sooner or later. It's better to kill him!"
Another villager chimed in, "That's right, if we keep her around, there's no guarantee she won't go around spreading rumors. It's better to shut her up forever!"
Zhang Kui frowned deeply and remained silent.
The Xiongnu general's gaze was calm, as if he were pondering a countermeasure.
After a moment, he finally spoke, "The weak young master is with a young girl and is unfamiliar with the terrain; he won't go far."
"First squad, listen up!"
At a command, seven Xiongnu soldiers stepped forward, shouting, "Here!"
The Xiongnu general looked at them and said, "You are responsible for the pursuit. Take the shortcut and capture the eldest prince as quickly as possible, just make sure he doesn't die. Then return to your unit!"
The Xiongnu soldiers replied in unison, "Yes!"
"yes!"
"yes!"
The Xiongnu general's gaze was icy. "If the mission fails, then we shall atone with our lives!"
The Xiongnu soldiers replied in unison, "Yes!"
"yes!"
"yes!"
Then the Xiongnu general looked at the old village chief and said, "You continue to come with us to the border. Once I am sure we can leave safely, you will be able to reunite with your families."
······
The Xiongnu soldiers moved with incredible speed, darting through the jungle.
The leading Xiongnu soldier charged ahead, searching for any signs of escape as he advanced.
"Over here!"
Upon discovering a tangled thicket nearby, the Xiongnu soldiers quickly determined their direction and led the way into the jungle.
This was a mission of life and death, and they pressed on tirelessly until they entered a dense forest.
"etc!"
The leading Xiongnu soldier raised his hand to signal, and the Xiongnu soldiers all stopped.
The leading Xiongnu soldier looked around in confusion, noticing that the trail seemed to have ended there.
He stepped forward and examined the area more closely. He quickly discovered a rather messy clump of trees, and judging by its height, it was clear that an adult had passed by.
"Over here!"
He led his Xiongnu soldiers and swiftly flew towards the dense forest on the right.
However, after creating a thick tree trunk, Fusu and Xiaoya hid there, not daring to make a sound.
After the Xiongnu soldiers had gone far away, Fusu pulled Xiaoya up and ran towards the dense forest on the left.
The leading Xiongnu soldier marched forward, but before he had gone far, he suddenly stopped.
He looked around, his brows furrowed deeply, and the traces that should have been there had disappeared.
Recalling how he discovered the traces, the leading Xiongnu soldier's expression changed. "Go back!"
The group immediately retraced their steps back to the same spot.
······
In the slightly eerie room, the Lord of Shadows sat on a skeleton chair, his voice chilling, "Dead again?"
Below, two figures stood there.
On the left is a short man dressed in black, who looks no more than five or six years old, with his right cheek completely black.
Although he was not tall, his eyes revealed a chilling, adult-like coldness that sent shivers down one's spine.
On the right is a robust old man with white hair, wearing a blue Taoist robe, and holding a black skull cane.
Although dressed as a Taoist priest, the old man exuded a chilling aura.
"Useless! Utterly useless! Can't even kill a little baby!"
The short man sat on the ground, grumbling as he ate mutton.
The old man in the Taoist robe frowned slightly. "This matter is rather strange. After Blood Kite came Viper. In all the years that Shadow has been carrying out missions, this is the first time he has encountered such a strange thing."
The short man dismissed it, "What's so strange about little kids? They're just incompetent. If I were sent, I'd be dead by now!"
The Shadow Lord's voice grew harsher as he rebuked, "This matter cannot be taken lightly!"
