Miao border region.
After a long and tiring journey, the little one fell asleep peacefully in Consort Shu's arms.
Consort Shu looked at the little one and couldn't help but smile.
She hadn't originally planned to come this time, since it was a military expedition and it would be inconvenient to bring a woman along.
But the little guy insisted on coming, and Ying Zheng wanted to take him with him, so Consort Shu couldn't refuse him outright.
But she was still worried about the little one, so she came along anyway.
Ying Zheng was reviewing memorials when he noticed the commotion. He looked up and was immediately taken aback.
Bathed in orange light, the girl's already delicate face appeared even more fair and tender, her pink lips curved into a slight smile, revealing her pearly white teeth.
Her eyebrows were arched, and her eyes were bright and captivating, like a figure stepping out of a painting.
Noticing Ying Zheng staring at her, Consort Shu raised her eyes, her expression slightly puzzled, "What is it, Your Majesty?"
Ying Zheng snapped out of his reverie and looked away. "I wanted to ask you if you're hungry?"
Before Consort Shu could answer, the little one's voice rang out, "Hungry! I'll starve to death if I don't eat a few chicken legs soon!"
While Ying Zheng and Consort Shu were still in a daze, the carriage came to a stop.
The little one leaped down from Consort Shu's arms, lifted the curtain, and rushed out, shouting, "We're here!"
Upon seeing this, Consort Shu quickly got off the carriage, only to find that the little guy had already run far away.
She wanted to give chase, but Ying Zheng's voice came, "It's alright, someone is watching him."
Hearing this, Consort Shu felt somewhat relieved and did not chase after him, but said with a sigh of helplessness, "That brat!"
Ying Zheng watched the little guy jumping around, looking at all the food at the stall with shining eyes, and a look of joy appeared in his eyes.
"It's alright, it's good to have spirits."
Seeing Ying Zheng's amiable appearance, Consort Shu was pleased and a faint smile appeared on her face.
Ying Zheng then said, "You and Yu'er can have fun here. After we've dealt with the Miao affairs, I'll come back and take you back to the palace."
Consort Shu was somewhat surprised, "Right here?"
She thought that Ying Zheng was going to take her and the little one to the front lines.
Ying Zheng looked at her and said, "The battlefield is too dangerous. Neither Yu'er nor you are suitable to be there."
Consort Shu didn't speak again, and turned to look in the direction of the little guy.
The two enjoyed this brief moment of peace.

"Is the young master leaving the palace?"
Seeing Fusu packing his things, Meng Tian frowned.
Fusu, carrying his books, said calmly, "Many days have passed, and the disaster victims must be running out of food again. I must go back and check."
Meng Tian said, "Don't worry, my lord. I prepared enough food for them before they left, so this situation will not occur."
Fusu insisted, "Then I have to go back and see them. They will soon be reunited with their families, and I have to make sure nothing goes wrong. Besides, I promised to rebuild houses for them so they can have a home."
Meng Tian still hesitated, "But you just got back."
Fusu packed his bags and patted Meng Tian on the shoulder. “Anyway, Father is not here, and I have nothing to do here. General Meng, don’t worry about me. The Xiongnu have retreated now, so everything will be fine.”
"You're the one who rarely comes back; you should spend more time with your family!"
After saying this, he shouldered his bundle, got up, and left.
Watching Fusu's retreating figure, Meng Tian frowned slightly.
As expected, the eldest son could not be persuaded.
······
It was late at night, and the moonlight was bright.
In the shadows, a group of people moved stealthily, like ants walking in the dark, silent and extremely well-hidden.
Soon, the group made their way into the Miao territory.
Flames could be seen in various places from afar, and men dressed in Miao costumes were scattered around, their eyes warily watching their surroundings.
Wang Jian observed the situation for a moment, then raised his hand to signal, and the soldiers split into two groups and quietly made their way towards Miao territory.
The cold silver armor gleamed in the night.
But after taking only two steps forward, the soldier at the front suddenly changed his expression.
As soon as I stepped on the grass with one foot, the ground collapsed instantly.
The withered grass fell into the hole full of spikes, but fortunately the soldier reacted very quickly. He pushed off with his other foot and his whole body sprang up, thus avoiding the deadly trap.
"There's an ambush! We've been discovered!"
The soldier shouted.
Instantly, the entire unit went on high alert.
The next instant, the sound of Miao soldiers charging rang out.
They were clad in black armor, their faces painted with various colors, and they charged forward with scimitars in hand, their momentum overwhelming.
"kill!"
Wang Jian roared and led his soldiers around the traps, charging towards the enemy camp.
He gripped his spear, leaped into the air, and swept it diagonally across the neck of a Miao soldier.
As a gash opened, the soldier froze, blood gushing out, and he collapsed to the ground.
With a single spear thrust, Wang Jian felled a soldier, but he did not stop. He continued to lunge forward, and then swept his spear horizontally, leaving a gash in the chest of another soldier.
As hot blood gushed out, the soldier fell to the ground, lifeless.
Wang Jian fought with increasing ferocity, his figure weaving through the Miao soldiers, and wherever he went, the Miao soldiers fell one after another.
Meanwhile, the accompanying Qin elite troops were also extremely powerful, engulfing the Miao soldiers like a tidal wave. For a time, the Miao soldiers were powerless to fight back and were forced into a series of defeats.
On the high platform, an old man in white robes stood with his hands behind his back, gazing calmly down below.
Even as he watched all the Miao soldiers being killed, his face remained completely expressionless.
A man approached the old man, cupped his hands in greeting, and said, "Chieftain, everything is proceeding according to plan!"
