Inside the hall, two rows of armored figures stood on either side, gleaming coldly in the orange light.
Xiaoyao, disregarding the need for rest, picked up a brush, dipped it in cinnabar, walked to a suit of armor, and began to draw talismans.
A full 20,000 suits of armor—that's an enormous undertaking.
Even with Xiaoyao working day and night, he only completed a little over two thousand bodies in a month.
As he was concentrating on drawing the incantation, a jar on the table next to him suddenly began to shake.
The talisman at the mouth of the altar began to swell, as if it were being impacted by something, and seemed about to be broken in the next second.
Upon noticing the unusual activity over there, Xiaoyao quickly stepped forward, took out two talismans, and affixed them to the mouth of the jar in a crisscross pattern.
As the talisman shone with golden light, suppressing the evil power, the jar gradually quieted down.
Xiaoyao frowned. "This guy is getting stronger and stronger."
Once the jar had quieted down, Xiaoyao seemed to remember something and went outside.
Soon, he returned carrying two roasted chicken legs, a plate of pig's trotters, and a pot of wine.
But instead of drinking it, he placed it next to the memorial tablet on the table.
Xiaoyao clasped his hands together, bowed, and said, "Master, please enjoy."
Today is the anniversary of his master's death. Although his master was also a monk, he loved wine and meat most during his lifetime.
After putting down the wine and meat, Xiaoyao continued to draw talismans on the armor.
······
"Is Yu'er still not awake?"
Inside the palace, Consort Shu frowned.
The little one fell asleep inside the Liangfei Palace.
All she heard was, "I'm so sleepy, I've used up too much spiritual energy."
Consort Shu had heard about Xiao Liu's ordeal and knew that he was able to come here safely today because the little guy had helped him.
Since the little guy wanted to do it himself, she wasn't going to stop him.
I'm just a little worried that this help might harm the little guy.
After all, the little guy would sleep for a long time after each time I helped him, and he looked very tired.
Xiangqin lowered her head and said, "He's still asleep. Your Highness, please have something to eat first. I will let you know as soon as the young master wakes up."
Since the little one fell asleep, Consort Shu has had a worried look on her face.
Several hours had passed since she returned from Consort Shu's place, and she hadn't eaten or drunk anything, which made Xiangqin very worried.
"I'd better go check on Yu'er."
Consort Shu walked to the crib, looked at the sleeping little one, and said with a complicated expression, "You are so special, should I be happy or not?"
She reached out and stroked the little one's head, and the little one slowly opened his eyes, "Mother."
Consort Shu's face lit up with joy, "She's finally awake!"
The little one sat up and said, "Mommy, I'm hungry."
Consort Shu asked Xiangqin to bring over the milk pot, and the little one drank it with great relish.
Consort Shu watched from the side, her eyes filled with satisfaction. "Yu'er, do you remember what you promised your mother?"
Seeing the Consort Shu's worried expression, he said, "Mother, you don't need to worry too much about me. I will protect myself!"
Consort Shu smiled and said, "Alright, Yu'er, you must keep your word!"
After drinking the milk, the little one fell into a deep sleep again.
Consort Shu did not disturb him. Seeing that the little one was alright, she was able to fall asleep peacefully.
The little guy woke up late at night.
After a good night's sleep, his spiritual energy had almost fully recovered, and he felt much more energetic.
My stomach is growling in protest; I'm hungry.
The little one looked at the milk jug next to him, picked it up and shook it twice, and it was empty.
He tiptoed off the bed and sneaked out of the palace.
It was late at night, and the palace was very quiet.
The little guy had a clear goal and headed straight for the kitchen.
But as soon as they entered the garden, a fragrant aroma wafted over, and the little guy's eyes lit up, "Succulents!"
He sniffed and walked toward the source of the fragrance.
After turning the corner of the corridor, we passed through a garden.
After many twists and turns, we finally arrived at a grand hall.
The little guy ignored the two Buddha statues at the door, pushed open the door, and slipped into the room.
He walked through a corridor filled with armor and came to the altar, his eyes immediately lighting up.
"drumstick!"
The little guy's face lit up with joy, and he climbed straight onto the altar, picked up the chicken leg with both hands, and started gnawing on it.
However, he didn't have all his teeth, so even with all his strength, he could only tear off a small piece of meat.
But the little guy chewed it with great relish.
Soon, the little guy sat on the altar with a satisfied look on his face, his belly round and plump.
He devoured a large chicken leg.
Bored, the little guy looked around, quite puzzled, "Whose residence is this? Why are there so many suits of armor here?"
Suddenly, his eyes changed slightly. He climbed down from the altar and came to a suit of armor, examining it closely.
He quickly recognized the runes on the armor, "A talisman?"
After observing it carefully for a moment, the little guy frowned. "Too weak."
He looked around, his gaze landing on the calligraphy brush not far away. "Fine, I can't just eat your food for free."
He stepped forward, picked up a brush, and made a few changes to the original talisman.
The little guy put down the brush, quite satisfied. "That's much better."
After moving around a bit, he felt hungry again.
The last chicken leg also couldn't escape.
Early in the morning, Xiaoyao pushed open the door and entered the room, ready to continue writing, but then he was taken aback.
He stared at the armor, scrutinizing it carefully for a moment, then his expression changed slightly. "It's been modified?"
His face turned cold. "Who is it?! Who dared to secretly alter it without permission!"
Each stroke of a talisman has its own effect; only when they are combined can they achieve the desired result.
Even the slightest change can make a world of difference in the results.
"If I catch you, I'll make you pay!"
Xiaoyao stormed up to the altar, but then paused, stunned.
