Chapter 9 I Have a Night-Shining Pearl

Jieshen Jieshen is located in the southeast of the imperial city. With red bricks and green tiles, it is magnificent and can be regarded as the most prosperous commercial street of the era. There are shops lined up one after another, with signs and flagpoles standing in all directions. There are shops selling brocade, ready-made clothes, daily necessities, and grains. There is a wide variety of goods.

Of course, as the largest city in the world today, there are also places selling jewelry.

The jewelry shops here are large and luxuriously decorated.

The two of them arrived at the door of a larger jewelry store. Zhang Shixun stopped and said, "Let's go into this one and ask."

Wang Dong wiped the sweat from his head and sat down on the steps at the door. "You go in and talk. Black and White Impermanence and I will be waiting outside."

"Why don't you go in?"

"It stinks of money. I'm too lazy to go in."

Zhang Shixun shook his head and had to walk into the jewelry store alone.

Inside the door, two strong men stood on either side with their arms folded. In the huge shop, there were only a few customers standing in front of the counter looking at the jewelry.

He walked straight to the counter, and a waiter came up to him, bowing and saying, "Sir! What would you like to do...?"

Zhang Shixun waved his hand and said, "Call your shopkeeper over here. I have a big business deal to discuss with him."

"Big business?"

Zhang Shixun didn't say anything and stretched out his right hand.

The boy looked into his palm and couldn't move his eyes away...

Zhang Shixun withdrew his hand and said to the servant, "Don't just stand there. Go and call your shopkeeper."

The waiter came to his senses and turned to the well-dressed middle-aged man at the counter and said, "Uncle, this is the first one."

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man politely bowed slightly to Zhang Shixun and said, "Sir, please wait a moment. I will go and invite the store owner."

The servant politely asked Zhang Shixun to sit on a chair next to the counter, poured him a cup of tea, and respectfully served it with both hands.

Zhang Shixun took the teacup and tasted it. The tea was rich, but tasted a bit strange.

He was already thirsty and didn't bother to savor the tea carefully, so he drank it all in one gulp.

The servant was very considerate and poured him another glass.

After a short while, a middle-aged man with a fair complexion and a short beard came out from the back. He clasped his fists towards Zhang Shixun and said, "We are honored to have you here. I am the owner of this shop, my last name is Gao. How can I help you?"

Zhang Shixun looked at him with a smile and said, "Manager Gao, I have a big business deal and would like to ask if your store is interested."

He stretched out his right palm, and a bracelet lay in the palm.

The shopkeeper's expression was exactly the same as the servant's just now - petrified.

The light in the store was not bright, but the blue light from the bracelet was clearly visible. The bright flowers inside the bracelet were arranged in an orderly manner, and the patterns on the flowers were clearly visible.

The shopkeeper stared at the bracelet with his mouth wide open.

As the owner of a large jewelry store in Tokyo, he was naturally knowledgeable, but this was the first time he had seen the treasure in this man's hand.

Generally speaking, only night-shining pearls can glow, but night-shining pearls are all round beads. However, the treasure in front of you is different. You can say it is a night-shining pearl, but its appearance is clearly a bracelet.

What’s even more incredible is that there are small blooming flowers inside the bracelet!

Shopkeeper Gao was completely shocked. It took him a while to come back to his senses. He forced himself to look away from the bracelet and asked Zhang Shixun, "Excuse me, sir, do you want to sell this treasure?"

"Well! I'm short on cash at the moment, and I want to sell this rare treasure. Please give me a price first. I'll still look around in other shops and sell it to whoever offers a suitable price."

Zhang Shixun casually put the bracelet into his arms.

"Sir, we have bought this treasure. As for the price, you can name it!" Manager Gao said in a very arrogant tone.

"I set the price?" Zhang Shixun dug his ear, thinking he had misheard.

"Yes, you name the price."

"Aren't you afraid that I will ask for an exorbitant price?" Zhang Shixun asked.

"Honesty is the foundation of a person. I see that you are a man of honor and not the kind of greedy person." He has changed the title to "young master".

Zhang Shixun laughed out loud and gave a thumbs-up: "I really admire you. First you trapped me with your integrity, then you hinted to me not to be greedy. Brilliant!"

Shopkeeper Gao bowed and smiled, "The final decision will be made by our owner. Could you please wait in the living room at the back?"

"No need, I'll just sit here and wait for your owner."

Shopkeeper Gao quickly instructed the well-dressed middle-aged man, "Gao Shiyi, go and call Yanei over and tell him that we have what he wants. Go quickly!"

Gao Shiyi hurriedly agreed and went out in a flash.

Wang Dong was probably getting impatient waiting outside, so he walked in with the Black and White Impermanence.

Zhang Shixun said to the shopkeeper, "This is my cousin. Please pour him a cup of tea."

"Okay!"

Wang Dong refused to accept this and asked, "When did I become your cousin?"

Zhang Shixun whispered, "Don't take it seriously. This is just an act. We'll bargain with them later, and you can just help out on the side."

Wang Dong remained silent.

After waiting for about a meal, the owner of the jewelry store came, panting "huff! huff!" and obviously in a hurry.

"Young Master, I didn't expect you to come so soon." Manager Gao stepped forward and saluted respectfully.

"Stop talking nonsense. Where is the guy selling the night pearls?" The owner was very arrogant. He didn't even look at Manager Gao, but stared directly at Zhang Shixun.

Zhang Shixun did not avoid and looked at the young master with great interest.

He looked exactly like the dandy dude in later TV dramas: thick lips, short nose, round body, wearing a lake green gown and a bright red fu hat on his fat head.

The most arrogant thing is that there is a peony flower as big as a bowl stuck on this guy’s headband.

Zhang Shixun liked dandies very much because they loved to show off and had money.

"This is my boss, Gao Yanei." The shopkeeper introduced him to Zhang Shixun.

"Nice to meet you!" Zhang Shixun stood up and bowed to him, muttering to himself: Gao Yanei? Why does that sound familiar?

Could it be the Gao Yanei from "Water Margin"?

On second thought, this possibility is very small. "Water Margin" was written by people in the Ming Dynasty, and most of the words of the novelist are fabricated.

Gao Yanei casually cupped his hands and asked anxiously, "I heard you have a night-shining pearl?"

"It's not just a night pearl." Zhang Shixun stretched out his hand.

Gao Yanei's expression became even more exaggerated. His big mouth turned into an "o" shape in an instant, and his eyes were as big as bells, staring at the bracelet.

Zhang Shixun smiled slightly and put the bracelet back in his arms.

Gao Yanei smacked his lips, stared at Zhang Shixun and asked, "How much do you want to sell it for?"

Before Zhang Shixun could answer, Wang Dong interrupted, "Is your father Gao Qiu?"

"My father..." Gao Yanei's face suddenly turned red, and he pointed at Wang Dong and cursed, "You bastard! How dare you call my father by his name... Come here!"

Two followers jumped in from outside the door in response, looking aggressive.

The Black and White Impermanence stood behind Wang Dong, their eyes looking straight ahead, motionless.
